We are not out of the woods yet: Jane is trying to nail the rathole shut…
Any help is welcome. Anybody out there a PPH guru?
Jane's got her site fixed…
The nature of the problem was not such that you could pick up any 'contagion' from it. It was an attempt to phish search engines in favor of another site, as I understand it. Jane has the explanation on her site, plus input from Abbey, who has traced the origin of the links…
Thank all of you for your help and moral support..your info and suggestions were valuable, and even the ones that didn't apply this time have gone into our memory banks. The denizens of the internet's sewers occasionally ...

Not a good couple of days, friends…
Yesterday we lost one of our friends from the rink…expected, but not that fast. We went to the hospital, but it was too late to say goodbye; and skating today—none of us were in top form. Today—Jane's blogsite got hacked, and some people see ads and we don't. If you can report on what you see and give her some help, this would be welcome.

Re the poll you may have noticed…
One of the nice things about doing the Cafe Press store is that we can offer ANYTHING they have the stuff for, so we're not voting out anybody's choices, just figuring what to prioritize in development. We can also offer something, sell a few of it, then shuffle it off and put something else in, as for instance, seasonal offerings.
We're hoping to get that fired up soon. By mid January we hope to have a few more books, and the Cafe Press store operational, as well.

Filked last night…
The local filk group held another gathering—we really enjoy this. We didn't bring our guitars—we just haven't had time to play at all, given the pace of work, but we sang and had a good time. Adding to the enjoyment Patty and Mike (Briggs) came up from southern Washington, and we haven't seen them in way too long! They sing and Mike plays, and plays very well, too! Shar was there—she's going to be a filk GOH at one of the Baltimore conventions upcoming. It was so nice to see everybody. The...

Waded through the old contracts…
…and some regular publishers are putting out e-books without the right to do so, not to my total surprise. That's quite annoying. You'd think they'd at least read the contract.
But then I've been in this business long enough to know a lot of things are done pending loud protest from persons affected.

New Year's Day: I've put up a walk-through for loading e-books for PC or reader—
—and stand ready to help anybody who's having trouble. A tip: easiest reader to handle is the Mobipocket reader or the Adobe pdf reader. Either one—just click on a .prc or .mobi file (for Mobipocket) on your computer, and if you have those readers installed on your computer, the reader window will pop up after a brief delay to load the book. Calibre requires a 3-step process, first clicking on an .epub file to bring Calibre up, 2 THEN clicking on the file title that should appear in the...

And a Happy New Year to all!
The world is turning round to a new year…2009 is in the books and we have all 2010 before us! We'll be starting it off with the US figure skating Nationals, here in Spokane, and doing some traveling and getting ourselves back on the ice, and back in shape—we've worked a lot at the computer, but we need some exercise! We plan to get our guitar playing back in practice. And to build that pond bridge—
And to have numerous books for Closed Circle, plus fun things to buy like t-shirts and mugs and ...

Incinerated a pot of stew this morning
Which proves the Bren book is moving nicely.
I thought I'd put it on and just sit down and trim up a few details in the scene…
It would have been a nice pot of stew. A total loss. Fortunately I got to it before the pot was ruined, but nothing else. I think it's going to be beans tonight.
We had a little snow this morning and now the sky is that lovely china blue it gets up here in the north. It's forecasted to snow non-stop for the next several days, but the weather reports have not been...
