re the backups of lost pages: is there a MYSQL wiz in the house?

Lynn could use some advice on actually extracting the pages.

Got some sleep last night…Faery links e-mailed to people who bought…

Jane was up late, however, getting Faery revisions links e-mailed to appropriate people. Please check your spam filters. They ARE valid for the next 12 hours. We have fully-justified pdfs, etc. Save your original downloads on a dvd, then download these.

Nearly lost the whole Wave site…

I was following instructions for a security upgrade, and got to the point I thought I should push the 'do-it' button. I nearly wiped my whole identity, which would have taken the page with it. I made a belated move to stop it, but in the process, I lost a bunch of sub-pages, just lost, gone, with all attached comments!  I am so sorry!

I have reconstituted the generic book discussion page, and trust you guys to fill it with brilliant threads. I will reconstitute others as I think of them, or...

Avatar monkey business: and I don't mean the movie…

Mine is back to normal for subsequent comments, but every older post is screwed, with a green gravatar: don't be too surprised. I'm still here. I hate spambots. I hate spambots. I hate spambots.

I just finished the new Foreigner book…

It's taken longer than I hoped, but so much intervened. It is, however, done! And thanks to Jane, who undertook the correction of the Hellburner files herself because I was working on the ending of a book—and she's so tired she's about walking into walls: she's been working til 4 am on her own Ring of Lightning; plus dealing with the spambot; plus helping me; plus, plus, plus. We are both tired, but Jane is exhausted…Thank you, Jane!

Closing end on end of Bren book…

Trying to maintain sanity and a writing schedule while getting other things done, not to mention our recurring pest 'bot that afflicted Jane's blog. She's got a new format up which we hope will lock out the 'bot. Plus there is a scan artifact that crept in on Hellburner and Heavy Time, and Jane is trying to pursue that so we can get people a corrected file. And the corrected file of Faery Moon; and Jane is trying to get HER next book up on CC; plus we are approaching US Nationals, where we...

And still happier news! I have 2 'new' books and 1 revision ready.

That would be Heavy Time, Hellburner, and the revised Faery Moon—which I hope will give improved function particularly in the PDF files, and some error correction in the others. I will advise if you are getting an update, KEEP your old files, against the probability that in patching the old mistakes I have made inventive new ones! But I have tried! I should be putting them up tonight, sometime around 8-9pm Pacific time.

I will be e-mailing people who bought Faery Moon with a special download c...

An explanation of what's been going on: your computers are safe…

Basically we had an incursion by a spammer bot, which is a virtual creature interested primarily in installing a huge number of links on sites. The 'bot prowls the web looking for sites, in this case WordPress sites—sort of like the oldtime burglar [in the era before electronic locks:] who has once checked into a hotel room, pretends to have lost his key, and then once the hotel installs a new guest in that room—uses his key to burgle the room. Or in this case, it came in via a chink in the...
