#TeaserTuesday

For teaser Tuesday, I thought I’d share an as-yet unedited scene from Airman to the Rescue, book 2 in the Heroes of Fortune Valley series coming on June 1, 2017.

Airman to the Rescue is up for pre-order now.

~~~~~~~~~~~
He walked inside the house and once again endured Shackle’s assault. Picked up the creature who for some reason seemed to adore him no questions asked, and gave him a rub. The shower was going, which meant Sarah would be in there. Naked. Wet and naked.
Two of his favorite combinations.
He pressed his ear to the door and heard Sarah singing the theme from Titanic. Off-key.
Actually, there was no reason he couldn’t enjoy their time together, whatever little was left of it. It was what he’d signed up for at the start of all this. He was crazy to want more, anyway.
He was going to forgive her for selling this house.
Just as long as when he walked into that bathroom, she wasn’t quite done showering. He went for the door, which thank you baby Jesus, was not locked. Walked inside and shut it closed again, then pulled off his shirt. Kicked off his shoes, pants and underwear.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Do you like?

You can pre-order this one and Breaking Emily’s Rules now and the cool thing about Amazon is you’ll get charged the best price no matter when you pre-order.

What would you do for a second chance with your first love?

Welcome to wine country and the small town of Starlight Hill, California, where the wine flows freely and so does the gossip.

The town has never quite forgiven Ivey Lancaster for leaving their favorite son, Dr. Jeff Garner, when she met a man on an online dating site. But while the people of the township took sides, the truth of her absence is something Ivey doesn’t want anyone to know.

When a sudden change of plans forces Ivey to work with her hunky ex, she must keep it professional or risk her heart all over again.

Ex-cop Ryan O’Hare takes one look at buttoned-up control freak Liz Garner and just itches to loosen the woman up. Not that he’s into her. Because a woman like that comes with way too many expectations. Not to mention, she practically works for him, and he didn’t hire Liz to watch after his beloved Harley-stealing Gran so he could turn Liz loose in his bed. Still, there’s something about her, a hidden wild side, that makes him wonder what it would take.

A country music heartthrob and his long-lost love walk into a wedding…

Will Truitt grew up living a country song. His momma died, his daddy went to prison, and his dog ran away. Now, as superstar Billy Brenton, his life should be pretty dang good. But he hasn’t been able to write a decent song in months. Crashing a wedding in a quirky little bridal-obsessed town is supposed to provide inspiration to get his career back on track. Instead, all he finds are regrets when he comes face-to-face with the only woman to ever crush his heart.

Lindsey Castellano gave up on love a long time ago. As a cutthroat divorce attorney on the outskirts of a town devoted to brides, weddings, and happily ever after, she’s honed her skills at avoiding love, commitment, and inevitable heartbreak. Or so she thought until Will Truitt reappears in her life.

When Lindsey shattered Will’s heart fifteen years ago, she’d been a sorority girl on her way to the top. He’d been a lowly janitor with a dream. Now he’s on top of the world, and she’s the last person he should need or want.

But she’s the only person who has ever inspired his music. And he’s the only man she’s never been able to forget. Have the years made them wiser, stronger, and better able to love, or this time, will they simply crash and burn harder?

A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS by JENNIE MARTS

Holly Adams returns to her hometown with a simple to-do list from her therapist: 1) Return to your roots, 2) Face your fears, and 3) Listen to your heart. But Holly hasn’t been back since a tragic accident claimed the life of her young husband. Returning home is one thing. Facing her fears and giving her bruised heart a voice are quite another.

Cowboy Levi Garrett remembers Holly as the brazen girl who once stole a kiss at a high school party, and barely recognizes the heartbroken young widow who ends up stranded at his ranch on Christmas Eve. All he wants is to remind Holly of the fearless girl she used to be.

It’s holiday magic when a winter storm traps the pair together, but will Holly be able to hear her heart when it asks for a Cowboy for Christmas?

He’d lost his best friend…

Logan Dorsey left the military and his job as an undercover detective, but he still couldn’t shake the nightmares that haunted him. The only thing that had ever silenced the horrors for the chiseled former Marine was the one woman that was untouchable for so many reason…

She’d lost her husband…

Emma Locke wrote romantic stories for a living despite the fact that her happily-ever-after had been taken away years ago. The gorgeous, blue-eyed, twenty-six year old widow and single mom had nothing in her life to connect her with the love and heat she needed to write about. Nothing to inspire that kind of passion…except the one man that was off limits.

They say time heals all wounds, but can it also be enough to grow new love?

Five Things You didn’t know about ‘Crazy for You’

Juan Carlos, Jack’s real name, is a combination of my grandfather’s name and my father’s name. Like my father, Jack is half Puerto Rican. For a long time, I’ve wanted to write a Hispanic hero. And guess what? More of them are coming.
Originally, Jack was going to be dressed in his street clothes when he apprehended the would-be burglar. Until my friend and author Amy Lamont suggested: what if he’s dressed like Santa?
I had to re-read parts of ‘Somebody Like You’ to re-familiarize myself with Fallon’s character and background. I then proceeded to deeply regret I’d had her divorced three times! Oy! One of the toughest things I’ve ever done is trying to make Fallon sympathetic to the reader.
I had never previously mentioned the name of Fallon’s son, and I picked David because I’ve always loved that name.
I named Wallace and Genevieve’s youngest son after my youngest son.

Pre-Order Giveaway for Crazy for You!

It’s the countdown to release day for Crazy for You, book 7 in the Starlight Hill series, and I’m VERY excited. I loved writing Fallon and Jack’s romance. I hope you will agree with me that they’re a couple that deserved their happily ever after. When they find each other quite by accident, it’s a “soulmates” connection. That moment you think, “If I’d only met him sooner.”

I have a pre-order giveaway going for Crazy for You, just to celebrate. In honor of October breast cancer awareness month (yep, I know it’s November) I’m giving away this packet shown below to one lucky winner (continental USA only – international – gift cards.) I’m including bookmarks and two signed print books of Unforgettable You and Forever with You. Make sure you enter the giveaway here.

Yet Another Cover Reveal…what!

9780373640164

Oh yeah.

You read that right. I have yet another cover reveal. I know, I know, I know. I just wrote in another post that Jack from Crazy for You is the sexiest hero I’ve written to date. Well, he’s the sexiest law enforcement hero to date.

But by FAR, Stone Mcallister of Breaking Emily’s Rules is the single sexiest military hero to date, by none! Ok, so maybe I’m prejudiced but I’ll let you decide come February 1, 2017.

That sounds like a long way away, I know. Rest assured it will be here before I know it.

And we’re available for pre-order now!

Happy Hump Day … Crazy for You is coming soon!

Seriously, it just feels like forever but Crazy for You will be here in four weeks. Jack can’t wait. He’s probably the sexiest hero I’ve ever written. At least Fallon thinks so.

Read below for a small excerpt.

He needs a break …
She needs a date …

Meet Jack Cooper…

Jack palmed the back of Fallon’s neck and drew her closer. “Scared?”

“I’m a big girl, Jack. I’ve been propositioned before.”

“This is different.”

At least he hoped like hell it was different. Because the truth was that by all rights he should be exhausted. He hadn’t slept well the night before and then driven hundreds of miles today. But right now he could stay up all night. He was wide awake and alive because she did that to him. Excited him. Made him have thoughts and emotions he hadn’t in a long time. Made him feel…something.

She wouldn’t meet his eyes. “I know.”

“Look at me.”

Her green gaze rose to meet his, and there was a spark in them that kick started his heart into next year. “I’m looking at you.”

“And?” He tried not to smile.

“Okay, maybe I’m a little bit terrified.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re strange if you’re not scared of me after tonight.”

“What I saw tonight was a mother who loves her son, and a son who adores his mother. And I also saw an idiot who doesn’t talk to you with the respect you deserve.”

“Ted is rude to me, but he’s rude to everybody. I know that people talk about me behind my back, too, but maybe I deserve it.”

“No one deserves that.”

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, Jack. Three of them. Maybe you should run for the hills.”

“I’m not worried.” He pressed his forehead against hers. “Tell me to back off, Fallon, and I will. Just say the word.”

He listened to the pattern of her breathing as it shifted and the breaths came faster. Shorter. He sensed her heartbeat kick up under his fingertips.

“Don’t feel sorry for me. I can’t stand that.”

“Seriously?” He pulled back to study her face. “I will only feel sorry for myself if you say no. But I’ll do what you want. Nothing more and nothing less.”

Adventures in Bell Land …

I had to run an errand, and after that somehow my car magically found itself in the parking lot of the Starbucks nearby.

“You ought to own stock in Starbucks,” I mutter. But the point is: you. do. not.

SO, I turned said car around and headed to the golden arches. I decide I’m going to buy an entire meal for the price of that one drink. It means I will buy a Happy Meal. Thank goodness they don’t check your ID for these, and anyway for all they know I could be buying this for my youngest child (he’s 20 and away at college in another state, but that’s not my point).

I used to have SUCH a good time back in the day when they would ask “boy or girl toy?” and I got to say: “Boy toy!”

You know, it’s the little things.

I ordered the meal but they didn’t ask me. I went up to the first window to pay and I asked: “Do you still have the toys?”

“Of course,” she said, but still she didn’t ask. I’m polite. I wait to be asked.

No one asked. Ever.

But I got this toy. I guess it’s unisex.

Treadmills and Kindles…they don’t always mix well in my house

Happy Labor Day!

There are many of you readers out there who get your exercise in while running. I thought I might try this since reading romance always seems to ease so many of my frustrations…why not running? Am I right?

But EMTguy (aka my trainer) caught me as I was getting up on the treadmill, Kindle in hand.

“No!” he said. He took my Kindle from me, and replaced it with a pair of earbuds and a mixed track of Sam Hunt (he knows that Sam Hunt is my boyfriend).

“Here. Now RUN! Like somebody is #@!% chasing you!”

Maybe I’m weird, but this worked for me. I ran the easiest mile of my life, while the sexy sounds of Sam Hunt played in my ear. It didn’t even feel like work.

I’m not guaranteeing anything, but I could get used to this…and honestly, how DO you run and read the Kindle at the same time? Inquiring minds want to know!

Cover Reveal! A Christmas novella…Starlight Hill book 7, an iBooks exclusive pre-order event

HeatherlyBell_CrazyForYou_800

Fallon McQueen needs a date to a wedding…yesterday. The pickings at the speed dating events she’s attended are slim indeed. She needs someone special to impress her ex.

And then she meets…Santa Claus.

Jack Cooper was simply trying to do a good deed and now he has a hot but batshit crazy blonde asking him to be her date to a destination wedding.

But if Jack is going to help, they’re going to do it his way.
