Norah (The McKades of Texas, Book 2) Cover Reveal and Teaser!
So I still don't have an official release date for Norah but I just wanted to share a few things with you to tide you over until the story comes out :) First up...the cover :
Well...what do y'all think? I personally love it. And now for a little teaser :) Please keep in mind that this novel is still a work in progress. It has not been edited and minor tweaks may happen upon final editing. With that being said, I hope you enjoy the following excerpt and as always thank you for reading!********************* She was on her way back towards the bar with her empty tray in hand when a man pushed his chair back from his table and stood abruptly, knocking into Norah in the process. Stumbling backward, she thought she’d found her footing but her boot slipped in something, no doubt some of the beer left over from that jerk earlier, and the next thing she knew her feet were flying out from underneath her. Her tray went flying back as she braced herself for the fall on the hardwood floor, but she felt it hit something else instead and then a pair of masculine arms encircled her waist. “Shit!” She heard a deep voice say from behind her. The tray dropped to the floor with a light thud and Norah grasped onto the arms around her waist as she attempted to find her balance. When she was standing upright, the arms around her loosened and she heard the man ask, “You okay?” “Yeah,” she said as she turned around slowly to see who her savior was. Her breathe caught in her throat as she stared at the man before her. Oh. My. God.

Five Questions for MK Tell us a bit about yourself.To put it simply, I’m a country/mountain girl at heart (and in truth) who bakes to relax, hikes just to stand on a mountain, swims in crystal blue lakes, reads voraciously and prefers gloomy days to sunny. I’d rather stay home for pizza and a movie than go to a party. I prefer dresses to pants, print books to digital, chocolate to anything else, and never tire of watching eagles fly.
What is your favorite movie based on a book, where you preferred the movie?This is going to sound awful, but I adored the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. Of course it would be horribly unfair to compare Jane Austen’s book with the movie because the book is wonderful, but I can’t help it—love the movie. I haven’t read the book since, but I watch the movie twice a year.
Is there anything else besides writing you think people would find interesting about you? I always have a tough time with this question because I wonder why anyone would find what I do with my life interesting. I’m the person who can’t tell you what happens in People magazine—ever. But I’ll give it a go! I enjoy swimming in the lake during the summer or hiking through Glacier Park and Jewel Basin. I can spend hours baking in the kitchen and not become tired or bored. During the winter I snowshoe. I love dogs and horses and would raise Friesians and Highland Ponies if given the chance. In an ideal world, I would spend half my year in Montana and the other half in Scotland.
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be?
Other than my own? Julie Garwood’s Ransom – every time I read that book I think of how much fun it would be to live in that time and place. I’m always up for a good adventure.
Favorite quote?

My Review:
In book three of the Gallagher Series we are introduced to Ramsey, Brenna's (Ethan Gallagher's wife) long lost brother. Ramsey has returned to Montana (with a little help from Eliza Gallagher) to reunite with the family he didn't know he had, find some answers, and help put an end to a feud that has cost everyone nothing but heartache and pain.This book picks up right where book two left off. Eliza has sought out and brought Ramsey back home to Montana. No time is spared in the family getting reacquainted with Ramsey and discussing theirs plans to finally put an end to Hunter's (Ramsey and Brenna's grandfather) nonsense--which after the stunts he pulled in the first two books I was ready for that guy to get it already! There is quite a lot of action in this book and most of it came when I least expected it. I always enjoy a good action scene and I must say that it kept me on my toes not knowing when or where the action was going to come from. There are also a lot of unanswered questions from the characters that are mentioned (not in detail) throughout the novel and don't get resolved until near the end, which I liked and disliked at the same time. Liked because it kept me wanting more and disliked because I'm an impatient person and wanted the answer right then :) The only thing I can say I wish had happened in the book was a little more background between Eliza and Ramsey's romance. When they arrived at Hawk's Peak it was clear that they held feelings for each other and I just would have liked a glimpse into how that happened. All in all this was a wonderful read and I was very pleased with the way it ended--even the little twist I didn't see coming.

I had to think about what I do when I create a hero in one of my westerns. He has to be bigger than life. Think, John Wayne in the western movies of a time gone by. Big. Strong. He must have a strict sense of justice and be an upstanding citizen. Although, he and my heroine might make love before marriage, he knows there will be a marriage. And if the heroine doesn’t want to get married, he will do everything in his power to change her mind.He’s a wonderful father. Teaching his children, sons or daughters, to ride, rope and shoot with the best of them.My heroes are also caring and gentle. They know their strength and make sure to rein it in when dealing with the heroine. No matter how obstinate or ornery she gets he never physically harms her. He may intimidate her, he may restrain her, but there is always an innate respect for her.He is always slow to anger but once riled, look out. And don’t even think about harming someone he cares for, he’ll always make you sorry you did, assuming you live to make it to the hanging. He won’t kill you outright or without reason, but you’d better not give him a reason.Creating a western hero is not any easier than creating a Regency or Highland hero, or any other kind. They are as strong and have as great a sense of right and wrong as any of those other heroes. But I tend to think of them as quieter, more reflective. The strong but silent type who never toots his own horn. I think that’s one of the reasons that I love them so much.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Selby, but I got no choice. There’s an opening at the sanitarium in Albany and my Mary, she needs to go right now. The doctors there might be able to help her. We leave on the morning train.”
Maggie took a deep breath and nodded. She understood. She really did, but it didn’t change the fact that she was now in a difficult situation. “Of course, you must go. I know how poor Mary’s health is and any help that can be obtained for her, must be.”
“I wish I could give you some notice, but we just received the letter in yesterday’s post.”
“It’s fine, Mr. Sinclair. I’ll manage.”
He handed her an envelope. “Here are the train tickets.”
“Yes, well, I’ve wanted to see the frontier I’ve been sending my these girls to. I’m simply going to see it sooner than I anticipated.”
“I’m truly sorry, Mrs. Selby.”Maggie got up, came around the desk and held her hand out to him. “You just take care of Mary. That’s your job now.”He shook her hand, nodded. Mr. Sinclair put on his hat and wiped his brow with his kerchief before venturing back out into the already hot and sunny morning. She went to her desk, grabbed Caleb Black’s file, put the closed sign on the door and then went upstairs to her apartment to pack. Her bride, Jenny Talbot would be by in an hour or so to pick up her tickets. Maggie would tell her then that she’d be accompanying her, not Mr. Sinclair. It was just as well. Jenny was nervous as a kitten and Maggie worried about the union, but both Mr. Black and Jenny had been adamant that it take place. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Cynthia Woolf was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden. She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends.Their closest neighbor was one quarter of a mile away, so her little brother was her playmate and her best friend. That fierce friendship lasted until his death in 2006.
Cynthia was and is an avid reader. Her mother was a librarian and brought new books home each week. This is where young Cynthia first got the storytelling bug. She wrote her first story at the age of ten. A romance about a little boy she liked at the time.
She worked her way through college and went to work full time straight after graduation and there was little time to write. Then in 1990 she and two friends started a round robin writing a story about pirates. She found that she missed the writing and kept on with other stories. In 1992 she joined Colorado Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America. Unfortunately, the loss of her job demanded she not renew her memberships and her writing stagnated for many years.In 2001, she saw an ad in the paper for a writers conference being put on by CRW and decided she'd attend. One of her favorite authors, Catherine Coulter, was the keynote speaker. Cynthia was lucky enough to have a seat at Ms. Coulter's table at the luncheon and after talking with her, decided she needed to get back to her writing. She rejoined both CRW and RWA that day and hasn't looked back.
Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and the great friends she's made at CRW for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Cynthia Woolf was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden. She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends.Their closest neighbor was one quarter of a mile away, so her little brother was her playmate and her best friend. That fierce friendship lasted until his death in 2006.Cynthia was and is an avid reader. Her mother was a librarian and brought new books home each week. This is where young Cynthia first got the storytelling bug. She wrote her first story at the age of ten. A romance about a little boy she liked at the time.
She worked her way through college and went to work full time straight after graduation and there was little time to write. Then in 1990 she and two friends started a round robin writing a story about pirates. She found that she missed the writing and kept on with other stories. In 1992 she joined Colorado Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America. Unfortunately, the loss of her job demanded she not renew her memberships and her writing stagnated for many years.In 2001, she saw an ad in the paper for a writers conference being put on by CRW and decided she'd attend. One of her favorite authors, Catherine Coulter, was the keynote speaker. Cynthia was lucky enough to have a seat at Ms. Coulter's table at the luncheon and after talking with her, decided she needed to get back to her writing. She rejoined both CRW and RWA that day and hasn't looked back.
Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and the great friends she's made at CRW for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Surprise!!!
Had the surprise of my life yesterday.
My husband and I were getting ready for a "last minute date night" when my aunt called with a computer emergency (she runs a boarding kennel and my husband does all the IT work for them). So we loaded up our kids (who were supposed to be going over to Grandma and Grandpa's house while we went to dinner) and headed over there with the intentions of just having my aunt and uncle watch them instead...because we were going to be late for our dinner. So we pulled up to the house and there are tons of cars parked in the driveway. Then, as we pull into a spot, I see my mom and my mother-in-law chatting on the back porch. And that's when I noticed the banner hanging from the roof that read, "Happy Birthday Kimberly!" Yes, folks, it was a surprise birthday party for little ol' me :)
I have never, EVER, been surprised before. If I ever get the feeling that someone is going to do something to surprise me, I turn into detective mode and put clues together until I've figured out the surprise. I don't know why, I guess it was just always my need to have some sense of control...because I'm a bit of a control freak :) But my husband did a great job of keeping the secret and plotting behind my back. He did such a great job and I honestly have the BEST hubby ever! I had NO clue what was going on but was happily surprised by the whole thing. All of my friends and loved ones were there and so many people pitched in to help make it happen. It was such a great day and I couldn't have asked for more :)

“What do you mean, you quit? Mr. Sinclair, you just can’t quit.” Margaret “Maggie” Selby put her pen down on the desk. She would not raise her voice. She would not lose control.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Selby, but I got no choice. There’s an opening at the sanitarium in Albany and my Mary, she needs to go right now. The doctors there might be able to help her. We leave on the morning train.”
Maggie took a deep breath and nodded. She understood. She really did, but it didn’t change the fact that she was now in a difficult situation. “Of course, you must go. I know how pooyki’s health is and any help that can be obtained for her, must be.”
“I wish I could give you some notice, but we just received the letter in yesterday’s post.”
“It’s fine, Mr. Sinclair. I’ll manage.”
He handed her an envelope. “Here are the train tickets.”
“Yes, well, I’ve wanted to see the frontier I’ve been sending my these girls to. I’m simply going to see it sooner than I anticipated.”
“I’m truly sorry, Mrs. Selby.”
Maggie got up, came around the desk and held her hand out to him. “You just take care of Mary. That’s your job now.”
He shook her hand, nodded. Mr. Sinclair put on his hat and wiped his brow with his kerchief before venturing back out into the already hot and sunny morning.
She went to her desk, grabbed Caleb Black’s file, put the closed sign on the door and then went upstairs to her apartment to pack. Her bride, Jenny Talbot would be by in an hour or so to pick up her tickets. Maggie would tell her then that she’d be accompanying her, not Mr. Sinclair. It was just as well. Jenny was nervous as a kitten and Maggie worried about the union, but both Mr. Black and Jenny had been adamant that it take place. If truth be told, Maggie herself was a better match for Mr. Black than Jenny. But she was here to find matches for others, not for herself.
Jenny’s reasoning she understood. Jenny was the oldest of the seven Talbot children. At twenty-two years old, felt she was a burden on her parents even though she worked and helped out with the bills. She hated her job and wanted to get married. Her chances were growing slim. Most men of marriageable age were either already married, old or widowers with hellions for children.
Jenny was a tall, slim girl with pale blue eyes and dark blond hair. Her lips were full, her nose long and straight. Just a plain young woman from a struggling family who wanted a better life. One that the wild frontier might be able to offer.
Mr. Black’s reasoning was less clear. He was successful and wanted children. Maggie had presented him with several other possible candidates, some more attractive, some younger, some older, all of whom he’d rejected. The reasons he gave were weak. Brown hair. Too short. Too fat. Too thin. Too young. Too old. There seemed to be a reason for rejecting every one she sent him.
Finally, he’d settled on Jenny with the proviso that Maggie herself accompanied the girl. She’d agreed, but stated only that Jenny would be accompanied. With her full intention having been to send Mr. Sinclair in her place. Maggie’s time was much more well spent here in New York. Finding clients, assigning candidates that is where her mind, body and commitment lay. Yes, running her business is where she belonged more than on a trip to the wild West.
