The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 96
Hi, I'm Jared. I'm the new guy.
By this point, I'm sure you all have gotten a taste of what I'm planning to do over the next year or so with The News From Poughkeepsie. For those who are a little confused with what exactly NFP is, there's always Mur's explanation from the very first NFP post. The short version is that's an idea a day, with a weekly theme. It is, essentially, a jumpstart for your head.
Just as last week had "Lesser known superheroes" as a theme, and the week before had "time trav

The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 95
Lesser known superheroes:
In the end, they all die.
That's the only thing that connects them. Barry is an electrician with an ex-wife and a kid already in the ground. Cecelia, having finally worked off those last stubborn 15lbs, spends most of her time trying not to think about food. ISBW #127 LITE – Wanna give up
Your dose of common sense
I met agent Jenny Rae Rappaport at WorldCon and she was a delight to talk to. She recently had a blog post that I'd hope would be common sense to my listeners, but just in case you had a question: when you get a response from an agent, No Means No.

The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 94
Lesser known superheroes:
The Great Old One will rise. That much is certain. But until it awakens, it has sent minions to do its work on Earth. They are monsters of every shape and size, but none so peculiar as the one who walks like a man. He carries with him no name, only a single minded purpose: to learn everything about the souls his Master will one day devour. His is a quest for knowledge, and his very life a whim of a greater creature to fulfill that quest.
But what the Great Old One could n

ISBW #126 LITE – Drawing Class
I test out my new headphone/mic combo for my ipod and talk about my latest creative attempt: a beginning drawing class where I have to allow myself to suck. Square one, baby.
It's short, it's unedited, it's attempting to be daily, and it's free.

The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 93
Lesser known superheroes:
Black Eyed Susan burns the candle at both ends, they say. That no one can be that driven and keep going. That one day, perhaps one say soon, she'll fall.
They've stop trying to hold her chains and rope. There are those who's seen her walk through an inferno. She's said to dodge bullets, and heal wounds with a wink of her eye. There's talk of her being an angel. There's talk that she isn't anything at all. Black Eyed Susan couldn't be that driven and keep going. That one

The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 92
Lesser known superheroes:
Mary-Ann tells everyone squids raised her, but that's not the truth. The truth is, she just loves them, almost as much as she loves Ba Gau (she's a double black belt). Mary-Ann is studying to be a marine biologist, and volunteers at the local squid preserve, tending to the tentacled creatures. When Dr. Cefal, who runs the preserve, is attacked on the streets, Mary-Ann decides it's time to take matters into her own hands. In a costume designed by her best friend and cosp
