Support our soldiers… for the upcoming holidays

Got this list from my friend, Kelley. Cards are great, but we’re kind of looking for care packages for the holidays.  We want these folks to have goodies at Christmas, right?

A few things first… if you’ve never done a care package or have any questions at all, please contact my friend at kelleygranzow at yahoo.com.

Let her know what you need/curious about.  I can’t help you.  At all. :)  Her email is above and she can answer your Qs.

All of these names were given directly to her and recently, so they should still all be at the following addresses.

Please do not post to facebook.  Please, if you’re looking to write anybody, keep in mind, the cards need to be for support and friendship.  I point this out because a few people somehow thought it was…um, for more.  And sent some rather inappropriate letters.  Many of these folks are married, so please…just support and encouragement.

Okay!  The list!

STOLEN… they lost, who wins? #winners

Winners!

Okay, as per the info laid out in the widget, prizes are drawn/awarded randomly.  The more you entered, the more chances you got.

The winners & their prizes…

Viki S

Mr. Real

Michelle B

Rogue Rider ARC

Caro H

Magic for a Price

Evening Green

Rocky Mountain Heat & Rocky Mountain Haven

Linda L

Fragile

Kat M

Lord’s Fall

Sheryl S. N. is the winner of the $50 GC from me…

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Thanks to all who entered… my winners!  You have two weeks, from today, to claim your prize… email me at shilohwalker2011 at gmail.com.  If I don’t hear from you within the two weeks, I keep my stash of loot.  Please include your name and which prize you won, and the email you would have used to enter the contest.  Without that email, I can’t give you the prize.  If you’re not sure if you are one of the names above, send me your email and I’ll check.

FYI… I had to delete a number of entries.  Upfront, a number of people tried to enter and use the ‘hosting blogger’ to get extra entries.  The only people who qualified for those were the ones who hosted me on the Stolen blog tour.  All others were deleted.

A lot of people entered for ‘adding to GR shelf” but didn’t leave a link to their GR’s profile, which was required… that’s what the extra info space was for.  I don’t have time to track down profiles so if you didn’t fill the info out all the way, your entry was deleted. There were well over 1500 entries-I can’t chase the info down-it said in the widget to leave that info.  If you didn’t, your entry was voided.

As it said on the widget, entering means you read my disclaimer and agreed…I reserve the right to do that.  It’s not fair to those who did to provide me with the needed info.

Again, thanks to all who entered…this was a fun one for me, and I hope you all enjoyed it, too.

Thanks to my blogging hosts

The Tobermory Cat…giveaway

A different sort of giveaway. I’m giving this away.

About a ginger cat that lives in Scotland.  I want to go to Scotland.  Anyway. Why am I giving this away?  Well, the author went through one hell of a time.  You can read about it here at the Guardian if you want.  Or you can enter to win this book for the child in your life.  You can also donate it to a library or school-your choice.

I’ve ordered one for the baby bratlet.  But I had the urge to buy more than one.  So, I’ll do it this way.  I know some of you have kids in your lives.  Want to give them this book? Enter away!  We have to get them hooked on words young, ya know. Make sure you read the disclaimer…one random winner gets the book. Open internationally.

So…what it?  Tell me a favorite book from childhood.  One of mine?  Bunnicula.

Frenemies!

Hmmmm.

This one is hard.

I guess I’ll go with THE PROTECTED….(due out in 2013)

Her tongue was too thick.

Help—

Help. She needed help. A face formed in her mind. Tucker—

Even as she screamed for him, she was distantly aware of Gus easing her around in the seat. “I’ll leave the windows down,” he said, leaning in to murmur against her ear. “You’ll sleep for thirty minutes, no more. The keys are you in your pocket.”

The words barely made sense. The darkness came on harder, faster.

“You…” she licked her lips. That sense of dread kicked up and ran down her spine. Adrenaline chased back the fog a little. “They’ll find the boy,” she whispered. “You stupid jack-ass. You…just fucked yourself…”

“No. I’ll keep him safe. It’s my job.”

Another Ramble… my final day as a criminal

After this, I must clean up my act.  And today’s prize, I think people want it.  Bad.  It’s…well. I kind of want it myself.  But I can’t keep it.  This was the terms of the agreement.  I must give it away.  It’s the goods I swiped from Larissa Ione.

If you’d like your chance at winning, check out The Book Binge.

Also, please make sure you read the rules for entering…a few people have attempted to enter as ‘hosting bloggers’ who…well…weren’t.  Only six blogs attempted to hide me on my life of crime, and only those six bloggers can claim the ‘hosting blogger’ benefit. Anybody else who does it – those entries are deleted, as specified in the contest rules.

Now… onto the next ramble…

I love HelenKay Dimon. I think she’s just awesome.  And because I love her so, I’m making her book a Friday 56 sort of contest.

Only…with pictures!

What’s the Friday 56, you say?

Oh, here we go…

About the Friday 56

Grab the book nearest you. Right now
Turn to page 56.
Find the fifth sentence. (If you do it on your blog, you’re welcome to use a picture instead like I did)
Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Yes, LEAN ON ME was totally the closest because it was on my phone.  I’d just bought it.

And now I’m going to buy another copy.  It’s ebook only so if you’re not an ebook reader, you can either give it a shot for this…or…um, well not enter.  No other prize is offered.

Want it?

Cool!

Here’s how to enter…just tell me whatever book is lying close at hand.  You can do the 56, or not. Up to you.  If you don’t have a book handy, either lying close or on your gadget, tell me what book you think is lying near your preferred reading place.  That works, too.

Remember, all contests here are subject to the rules of my website… entering any contest means you’re of the age of majority, you understand that I’ll post the winner’s name (probably by 11/10) to my site and you must check back to see if you’ve won…hint…sign up to have the blog emailed to you… it’s that little feedburner thing…or you can go here).  If you don’t claim the prize within two weeks, it’s forfeited. This is just a quick run-down.  For the rest of rules, please read them.  Entering means you’ve read them and agreed to them.

Okay… fire away!

New Series…

So I announced this via my newsletter a couple days ago.  If you’d like to get the newsletter and get info like this a bit early, plus the sales I sometimes do on my self-pubbed titles, you can sign up here… http://shilohwalker.fanbridge.com/

It usually goes out once a month, except on the odd month I might have two books out in one month, then it might go out twice, but that’s it.  I don’t sell or trade anybody’s emails–they are just for me.

And if you’d been on the newsletter, you would have read the details about my new series with St. Martin’s.

St. Martin’s is now going to be publishing my romantic suspense titles and I’m completely delighted about this, and with my new editor, editor M.  I’ve wanted to work with her for…years.  Now I get to.

So the project.  It’s going to be another small-town sort of feel.  There will be three novellas and three full-length novellas, all connected.  I can’t go into much detail just yet and I have no release dates.

But I can tell you that yes.  I will have more romantic suspense stuff coming. :)

CELEBRATE…good times, come on!

Celebrate good times, come on! (Let’s celebrate)…

Before we start today’s ramble…I’m hiding out today.  Over at Smexy Books.  Supposedly they love me over there, so maybe they’ll keep my secret and not tell any of the…um, people, who might…ah, be looking for me.  Not that I did anything. Really. o.O

So STOLEN is out. A book that almost killed me dead writing it. Some are easier than others, some are harder. This one was harder. Usually on release day, I try to take the family out so I don’t sit around, staring at Amazon numbers and hoping, praying, waiting for that bright and shining day I’ll finally hit a list…and I’ve resolved myself to the inevitable.  It ain’t happening.  Yeah, I know it doesn’t mean much readers, but it means a lot to writers and I keep hoping…and I keep seeing it not happening, so I’m aiming for distractions now.

Still, it’s another book out and I haz shiny new contracts with a new publisher and I absolutely adore my editor.  I’ve wanted to work with her for a long time and no, I’m not just saying that to butter her up.  I don’t think she’d buy it anyway.

Dinner out is not just a distraction.  It’s a way for us to be together and it reminds me that despite that illusive list thing, I’m doing something I always wanted to do, and God willing, I hope to keep doing it.

So that’s the family celebration thing.  This time, we went to Molly Malone’s in Louisville, and we went on Monday after I found out…hey! KIDS EAT FREE!  AWESOME!!!

And the guy took us out for ice cream after. ;)

My personal celebration…I usually make a Kiva loan.  I love Kiva.  I actually have two different accounts, a personal one and then my ‘Shiloh’ one since I talk about them so much.  Kiva is a micro-loan thing, where you can ‘loan’ $25, and it can change a person’s life.  Right now, you can even make your first loan on somebody else’s dime. :)

This time, though, I decided to do a kiva loan and donate to the Red Cross, considering what’s going on along the East Coast with Sandy.  Man, she’s a mean one.

I dunno if that’s normal celebration stuff, but it works for me.  I keep telling myself if I can find a rocking pair of red cowboy boots, one day I’ll buy them as a ‘me’ present, but the only ones I ever find that I like cost waaaayyyy too much.  Maybe that will be that illusive ‘if I ever hit a list’ present.

Oh…I do have a bottle of ice wine. I suppose I could crack that open.

What do you like to do to celebrate something special?

STOLEN…releases today…signing, news, etc

So, STOLEN comes out today.

A snippet!

Shay awoke to darkness and silence.

Silence in her mind, silence all around her.

And warmth. There was an arm around her waist and a long, lean form pressed against her back.

Stiffening, she jerked upright and whipped around.

Light filtered in from the bathroom—she hadn’t left that light on. Well, she didn’t think she had, but she never left that light on. But if that light hadn’t been on, she wouldn’t have been able to see Elliot’s face. Elliot’s face. Which meant Elliot was there.

In her bed.

Elliot was in her bed.

Shay gulped.

“Morning,” he murmured, his voice a low, sexy rumble.

She gulped a second time and managed to squeak out, “Morning.” Then, as terror and nerves gripped her, she scrambled out of the bed and took off for the bathroom.

Halfway there, she realized she wasn’t wearing a shirt. But she was wearing her jeans. What the

Forget about it. She’d figure it out in the bathroom.

She slammed the door behind her and sagged against it, covering her face with her hands. She stood there trembling for a minute and then she stormed across the bathroom floor and turned on the water, washed her face. As she was brushing her teeth, she tried to think; she needed to think. The entire night was nothing but one black pit. She didn’t remember much of anything…

Not much of anything…Slowly, Shay lowered her hands. She didn’t remember the nightmares. That was almost always the first thing on her mind when she woke and they weren’t there.

Wait…

She spit out a mouthful of toothpaste and rinsed her mouth out, staring into the black bowl of the sink. “No nightmares,” she whispered.

And Elliot’s words from the past night came back to her…I’ll be here if the nightmares start…

You can buy here, here, here, anywhere!  Well, not anywhere, but still. ;)
