Another excerpt from Crazed Hearts…
Want to meet Ren...?
(don't forget I Thought It Was You-the free short story..)
Reaching for the corkscrew, he opened the bottle of wine and poured her a glass. From the corner of his eye, he saw her rubbing at her head, frowning. Through the low-level shields he kept up, he could feel her vague unease. Wondering now if she had hit her head—despite the fact that she was actually very convinced she hadn't—if she did have a head injury, and if she should be drinking the wine.
He sighed...
GoodReads & Bad Promo… a mini rant
So I'm on GoodReads. But I don't do much there-just keep my profile up, approve the friend requests & add in new books I buy when I remember. If I was any sort of organized, I could probably organize my books, the books I want, the books I've read through there a lot better. That's a ramble for another today, though. Today isn't about rambles. It's about ranting.
Dear GoodReads Authors:If you are recommending your own books to me, please stop. It's annoying. And no, I'm not the only one...July 13, 2010

Crazed Hearts… and that surprise I promised….
UTA… I'm guest blogging at ROMCOM today…
So July is a month that I always expect lots and lots of presents. My birthday… and my anniversary is also this month. I always expect to score, big. Yes. I am materialistic. I admit this…I own this.
But this year, I'm actually going to give away a pressie.

Where am I today…
Hmmm.
Blech. It's a bad sign when I can't remember where all I am supposed to be.
I know:
I'm guest-blogging for Sylvia @ Murder She Writes
(Say congrats to her if you head over there-she's a double winner in the Rom Con readers crown)

JenM… who commented…
I love flawed characters, the more flawed the better. My all-time favorite flawed character is from a medieval Scottish historical series called The Lymond Chronicles written years ago by an author named Dorothy Dunnett. Her protagonist, Francis Crawford, was a tortured anti-hero type who goes through all kinds of trials in the course of 6 books, but ultimately finds happiness in the end. I've measured every hero ever since against him.
As per my blog rules, Jen, you have a...

Gulp.
I was just at PBW's blog and saw this…
20 Days Dream Called Time Arrives
The Final Stardoc novel. Releases on August 3. I'm filled with terror, glee, anticipation and sadness. She is one of the few authors I will put just about everything on hold for-I'm just glad it doesn't come out on 7.27, like so many other fricking books. Yes, I don't plan on doing much that day, but I'm trying to decide-can I read it right away? Or wait a while and try to pretend it's not the last?
The Final
Going to Nationals? Never been…? #RWA10
Okay… here's what I'd recommend…
Do NOT:
overcrowd your schedule-you can't do everything.wear miserably uncomfortable shoes-I don't care how cute they are.force yourself into on the cool agent's conversation-you'll look rude, she'll remember, it won't do you any good.get so intimidated or overwhelmed by the atmosphere that you forget one simple thing…we're there because we love writing. Period.expect everybody to be all sunshine and roses-it's not going to happen. You're surrounded by people...July 10, 2010
Winners of the Veil of Shadows ARCs
Just a reminder guys…
As specified in the contest, these ARCS are basically promotional tools for me, so I was definitely more inclined to give them to those who would (or did) do things that would help spread the word.
Hope y'all understand…but look at it this way-the more people who see/hear about the book, the better it is for all of us, because the more people who see/hear about it, the more likely it is people will decide to check it out…which means…the more likely my publisher will be at ...
