House Doms wore masks to conceal their identities, and each chose something singular to identify themselves. Sir Daniel’s weapon of choice was the single tail whip, and he wore it as his badge.
Sconces lined the walls, giving off a soft light that left most of the room in some degree of shadowy privacy for its occupants. A red spotlight shone down on the stage and cast a sensual glow over the naked man bound to a frame in its center. The submissive’s wrists and ankles were bound with simple jute, the heavy rope cuffs securing him suspended from the sturdy metal.
Mistress lifted her flogger, a heavy fall of long, thick leather straps, and flicked her wrist. The tails whooshed through the air, landing with a solid thwack across her submissive’s broad back. Tom flinched, familiar with the feel of Mistress’ powerful swing and the brutal sting of her flogger. Thanks for having me on the blog today to talk about my novella, Club Stratosphere: Lexa and Tom. It’s great to be here, and to get the word about my book, as well as the 21 other fantastic stories in the Alpha Fever boxed set.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing professionally since 2009 when I wrote the first book in my Abbey of Angels series, Ardeur. Writing is something I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. Books, and a deep love of them, have been a part of my life since childhood. I can remember writing stories down on a little heart-shaped notepad in 7th grade and filling the pages with my loopy scrawl.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
For me, the best part is being able to create. I get to tell stories about fantastical worlds and creatures, sexy Doms and their equally beautiful submissives. The world is my oyster when I’m putting words on the page. The downside is that I’m very critical of my own work, and have a hard time shutting of my inner editor so that I can write without editing as I go.
What inspires you to write?
Writing is my passion, so the inspiration comes easily. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Now I get to do exercise my passion, and share my work with readers.
What is the title of your story included in Alpha Fever? How did you come up with this story?
Club Stratosphere: Lexa and Tom. It was originally a short story that I’d written several years ago, but I didn’t feel like it was finished. When I was offered the opportunity to be included in the Alpha Fever compilation, I knew this was my chance to give the story the attention it deserved.
How did you conduct your research for Club Stratosphere: Lexa and Tom?
Personal experience, visits to Swingers/BDSM clubs and local lifestyle events. I have several friends, and acquaintances in the lifestyle who were happy to share their knowledge and experiences as well.
What are 3 of your favorite lines/quotes from Club Stratosphere: Lexa and Tom?
1. “Damn,” he laughed. “Can’t blame me for trying. I’ve been waiting forever for this—for you.”
2. “I’ve been waiting all day to get my hands on you and I’m not going to let being kicked out of my house keep me from getting what I want. And right now? I want you.”
3. Leaning in, Tom murmured against her ear. “Be a good little slut now, kitten.”

Tell us about your other books?
The Abbey of Angels is a series of Paranormal Romance books with the main setting in a hidden-from-humans part of an abbey. The annex is run by angels and is a refuge for supernatural beings seeking asylum. There are currently three (3) books in the series, and several more planned.
Aside from the AoA series, I have four stand-alone Erotic Romance novellas: Cursed, Tarnished Tiaras, UnWrapped and The Lists.
There are more stories planned for Club Stratospheres, too. The original story starring Ellie and Robbie Avery (formerly of Miss Ellie Swings) is next.

The idea for this story began with a random casual conversation with someone who had once been a prison guard. And me being me totally ran away with that thought and an idea was born. What if a male guard fell in love with a female prisoner and as a result they have a child? All the while she's incarcerated. But again me being me I didn't want to focus on the obvious consequences of their actions but I wanted my story to focus on the child and how events that happened before his birth affects him later in life. And so The Prison Guard's Son was born.

I never knew my mother. I tell people she died shortly after I was born, that stops any more questions. So I don’t have to say she was a convicted felon who died while in prison. Nor do I have to talk about the fact that my father was one of her guards. He raised me as best he could. The one thing I never had or wanted was a family, he was family enough. The only other thing I ever needed was my music. I never pretended to be anything other than what I am, but then she entered my life and my music suffered. This all started with sex in elevators. ;-) I was part of a group of authors who contributed to anthologies titledGoin' Down. We had so much fun that we decided to write mail order bride stories. Since I'm kind of an obstreperous woman, I wanted my bride to be in Joshua, California with the rest of the ladies under false pretenses. A mail order bride who didn't want to be a bride under any circumstances. As a writer, you let your mind wander to find the most unique story possible.
Why would my bride be opposed to marriage? Well, maybe because she'd already been seduced by a man and dumped. Believe me, that'll do it. Then to add just a little more interest to her, she had been raised in Egypt by Egyptologist parents. Coming back to America was her escape and new beginning. Her mission now was to open a library in the small town of Joshua.
Now for my hero. I'd always wanted to write about a minister and give him lots of temptation. How would he handle that and still follow the tenets of his faith. To add some more complications, he'd been a bounty hunter who'd found God after the disastrous shooting of an innocent child. He'd now settled in Joshua and arranged for a group of mail order brides for the single cowboys and ranchers in the area. He wouldn't mind a love for himself. Unfortunately, the woman he's attracted to wants nothing to do with finding a committed relationship.
With these backstories, Isis Garrett and Prescott MacKay were born.

I adored Pres and Isis who each have pasts they’re uncomfortable sharing with each other.
Following is the opening scene from Wooing the Librarian.
"Well, Preacher, see any filly you like?"
Prescott MacKay studied the ladies as they alighted from the train. Unselfishly, he hoped his buddies would find suitable brides, and quickly. The thing he wanted most on this earth was a woman of his own, but as the preacher, he had to make sure the other guys found their wives first.
"Not really," he responded, not quite truthfully, to Mayor Jim Benson. Many of the ladies were pretty, a couple could be called plain, one looked a little long in the tooth. Tall, short, thin, plump, the women came in all sizes and shapes. Someone for every fella's taste. He wondered if one of them was to his taste. He might be a preacher, but he was still a man. A great, hungry, lonely, randy man.
"That one." Benson pointed to a severely dressed, severely visaged lady. "Doesn't look like she's happy to be here."
The woman stood to the side, away from the other chattering mail-order brides, her lips pursed, gimlet-eyed gaze sweeping the town. The way her brows drew together said she didn't find much favor in Joshua, California. Frown notwithstanding, she was still pretty. Round cheeks, a determined pointed chin, fair skin, dark eyes, rich brown hair barely covered by a ridiculously small hat, there was something about her that called to Pres. Her gaze rolled over him, on to Jim, past them, assessing everything. Assessed and found wanting?
He was curious. If she traveled all this way to find a husband, why would she scowl like that? Wouldn't she want to put on her best face? Her gaze came back to him. Or was it aimed at his friend? Even from across the busy, dusty street, he could see her lips part slightly and her eyes widen. The sudden heated tightening of his belly shocked him. She didn't look like the kind of woman to inspire lustful thoughts, and as a preacher he tried to keep a lid on them. Didn't feel it was right to respond to all his manly urges, at least not in public.
In his life before becoming a preacher, in his bounty hunting days, he wouldn't have bothered with a proper looking woman. He'd needed the easy, no commitments, no responsibility, no-morning-after type of woman back then. It was all different for him now. Now he wanted the morning-after woman, the family, the promise of forever.
They traded gazes for a long moment, sights and sounds melting hazily into the background. His heart thudded heavily, almost painfully. What the hell, uh heck. At the same time, her breasts rose and fell in a deep breath. And a nicely rounded bosom it was. It didn't escape his notice she was a bit on the plump side all the way around, but that didn't keep him from salivating at the promise of all that softness under his work-roughened hands. His lips quirked, and he brushed his forefinger across his lower lip anticipating the pleasures he could share with the woman.
About Jane -Being a romance writer has its good and bad points. Good because we can always arrange for our characters' stories to have a happy ending. Bad because we're constantly inundated with stories and characters and sometimes talk aloud to them when other people are around. Writing romance stories is a fulfilling and happy job, and I'm grateful to be able to do it.

Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. KayThere are many sub genres within the world of erotica, but for me it is the BDSM genre that has always been the most interesting to write. The possibilities within BDSM literature are boundless. I adore employing twists of submission and domination in my plotlines, and then using those plots to weave in an underlying love story. And, let’s face it- creating a tale with added ropes, ties, paddles, and gags is great fun from a writing perspective.However, it is trust that underpins any BDSM relationship- and it is that concept that can lead to romance- albeit of a very particular variety. Trust HAS to have a lead role in any BDSM tale- although sometimes it isn’t always obvious to the reader at first...
KDI’m a voyeur! I’ve admitted that to the world before, but what that means for me as a writer is that while I personally might not be comfortable with BDSM, some of my characters are, and they’re more than happy to let me watch and learn. Few of my characters have taught me more about BDSM and the D/s relationship than Tino with his strange and wonderful power exchange with Stella James. As I’ve become more experienced as an erotica writer and have had more of my characters teach me more and more about BDSM, I’ve discovered that what truly fascinates me about BDSM is not so much the implements. I find them irrelevant, for the most part; it’s that exchange of power that fascinates me, why it occurs and how. Why does Tino want to be in submission to Stella? Why does he want to be her Pet? And why, if he wants to submit to her, does he insist on being badly behaved from time to time? What is it about being punished that gets him there, so to speak? It’s the psychology of a BDSM relationship that fascinates me, and the fact that as a writer, as a voyeur, I can observe without being drawn in … well actually that’s not true at all, if I listen to my characters, if I write the story they want me to write, I always get drawn in, and hopefully my readers will be to.
