The Night Gallery

This morning we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in bed, after which Grey finished his latest art piece while I caught up on my Pogo crosswords. The puzzles seems to be helping drag my poor old brain back from the various damages it has sustained over the last several years. Then, since we don't have a working full-sized oven between the three of us, we and my mother had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at one of the downtown hotels. They had all the traditional items, but I mostly gorged on quail, asparagus, and desserts. At the restaurant, I glimpsed myself in a mirror, failed to recognize myself for a moment, and thought, "Who's that unattractive little man?" Oh well; instinctively reading myself as male made me happy, anyway. And I haven't been "ma'am"ed for several days now. Looking at pictures and videos of other trans men gives me hope of looking even more masculine in the future. I feel like the shots are working faster and better than the topical gel did.

Back home, a four-hour nap, and now I'm getting ready to start my workday. If any locals would like to come take a look at our work some evening, Grey has set up a thrice-weekly event called The Night Gallery. I may or may not be around at any given time, but some of my paintings definitely will be.

Self-Portrait: Ass And Torchiere

My foray into photography. I suppose it's juvenile, but I like my ass better than I like my face. Also, I don't have to give myself a testosterone shot in the face tomorrow. My ass is my vehicle of change.

The New York Series

Here's something different for me, a group of paintings I call the New York series. There may be more. For now, they're available for auction separately, but if anyone is interested in purchasing them as a set, I'd let all three go for $300. Contact me at funkyegret (at) yahoo with "New York series" in the subject line.

1984

I still haven't found the portrait I'm looking for, but damn, I would kill to go back in time and be at that 1984 Wembley show on the An Innocent Man tour. I'd have to go back in time, because in actual 1984 I was only listening to prog rock and ambient music and was way too cool to admit I wanted to go see Billy Joel. The band was superlative and Billy's voice was great and he looked healthy and happy. He and Christie Brinkley were the great love of each other's life and should not have broken up. (I know all about it, see.)

Here is a blog entry from Grey that's well worth reading because, among other reasons, it includes the phrase "wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing Buddhas."

My big achievement for the day has been doing the L.A. Times crossword. In pen.

Dear Magical Internet

Dear Magical Internet,

I'm having a really crappy day. I mean, the kind of day where I can deal with nothing more challenging than sitting in bed watching Billy Joel and Family Guy videos on Youtube. Though life is meaningless and filled with pain, it might help a little if I could find this damn self-portrait I keep thinking about. I'm pretty sure it's by Picasso, and it's a line drawing, and he's in a pose like this (definitely the hand; maybe the hat):

Thank you very much, and please tell the universe to give me drugs.
