D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantra #6: Live Like a Bunny (and no...not a Playboy Bunny...)...an Ostara Bunny
Wavin' atchya, D. D. Scott-ville!
Happy Ostara (which is also known as Eastre)!
And yep, that looks and sounds a lot like Easter, right?!
That's because long before Easter, in The Old World, the wise men and women of witchcraft celebrated Ostara/Eastre.
Ostara is the Spring Equinox, meaning that Spring has officially arrived on the Wheel of The Year!
***Note: The official date was last Wednesday, March 20th.
And guess what?
The Old World Peeps celebrated this holiday with colored eggs, bunnies, Spring flowers like tulips, crocus, daffodils, hyacinths and more as well as grand feasts.
Sound familiar? :-)
As we all get ready to usher in Spring, here's a fabulous Magickal Mantra you can use:
Live Like a Bunny (and no...not a Playboy Bunny)...an Ostara Bunny
Happy Ostara, D. D. Scott-ville Peeps!
I've got my all-things-green smoothie lifted high in the air to ya!!!
And here's the recipe if you'd like to make one:
Green Mango Smoothie
1 1/2 cups of Spinach
1 cup fresh or frozen mango chunks
1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
2 tablespoons vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup ice chips
1/2 cup almond milk (or more, depending on how thick or thin you like your smoothies)
(From Harley Pasternak's Body Reset Plan...Luuuvvv Harley!!!)

D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras #5: Celebrate The Moon
Happy Hump Day, D. D. Scott-ville Peeps, and welcome back to my Magickal Mantras!!!
Today, we're ready for #5...
Celebrate The Moon
Just like my new character Belle Bishop, Queen of Witches, who debuts in just a few days in her new series, beginning with Book One - PRACTICAL MISCHIEF -
I "celebrate the moon" and actually build my witchery around that incredibly powerful source.
And not just at each month's Full Moon. The Moon is magickal in all of its quarters. In fact, here's the scoop:
If you want to increase and/or improve certain things in your life - for example, health and prosperity, practice moon magick during Quarters 1 and 2 (so, from each New Moon until the Full Moon). If you want to decrease or banish certain aspects of your life and the negative effects they have on you, work your magick during Quarters 3 and 4 (from the Full Moon back to the New Moon).
To help you track the moon's quarters and phases, check out this fabulous site (I've used their moon phase module on the bottom left sidebar in D. D. Scott-ville):
http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/moon_phases.phtml
What I love to do is to head on outside each and every night (I take out my dogs one last time before bed so that's when I do this type of witchery) and celebrate all the gorgeous phases of the moon. I often lift-up my arms to the moon, close my eyes, and feel the light and warmth of its power flow into my heart, mind and soul.
And yep, sometimes I dance a little bit just like these fabulous faeries. The energy pull is so strong it just makes you want to do a little Victor Cruz Salsa or some bootscootin' down the sidewalk.
Depending on which phase we're in, I silently, or sometimes out loud too, whisper to the moon whatever it is that I'm working on. Lately, for example, during Quarters 1 and 2 (known as The Waxing Moon - when the moon gets bigger and brighter toward a Full Moon), I've asked for guidance in how to help my DH (Darling Husband) to continue to improve and recover well from his double knee replacement. During Quarters 3 and 4 (The Waning Moon - the time the moon gets smaller and eventually goes into its dark, New Moon phase), I've been working on finding magickal ways to banish his pain.
***Note: See how you can kinda ask for the same thing, but with a different focus? In one case, I'm asking for positive energy to come to us (better health), and then later, asking for the negative energy to be banished (pain free).
Now then...I also toss in a few wonderful magickal correspondences, such as my Moonstones and white and silver candles to give the magick a bigger boost yet!
That's one way I Celebrate The Moon in my wonderful witchery-filled home.
What do you think, D. D. Scott-ville Peeps...How do you Celebrate The Moon?

PRACTICAL MISCHIEF - Belle Bishop, Queen of Witches, Book 1
(CHAPTER ONE)
“An’ it harm none, do what thy will.” The Wiccan Rede.
Belle Bishop and her sister Gaia had always lived by The Wiccan Rede. But their sister Angelica never had. This time, however, Angelica had gone too far. Way waaay too far.
Now that Gaia had crossed over into The Summerland, only Belle stood between Angelica and the practical mischief she doled out with gusto. Belle wondered, if even she, Belle Bishop, Queen of Witches, could reverse what her ethically challenged sister had done. Or, should she even attempt to reverse Angelica’s worst spell yet?
Maybe they were all better off just leaving things as they now stood and trying to find the best way to move forward. Maybe. Maybe not.
Belle repeated the Rede over and over. With each deep inhalation, the wise words fortified her resolve to make up for what Angelica had done. With each exhalation, she attempted to banish the negative energy her sister stirred.
Normally, she enjoyed the ride across Lake Michigan from New Bison to Chicago aboard her yacht, The Moon’s Muse, the last ride of the year before Winter set in. But not tonight. Not even the Mabon Ball to honor the Autumn Equinox, an event she looked forward to, could bring her out of the restless fit Angelica’s latest prank had caused.
According to the Wheel of the Year, the light of day and the darkness of night were in equal proportion, but the darkness of the Winter Solstice was about to take over just as the dark magic Angelica dabbled in could snuff out light and goodness in an instant.
“Well, I guess I’m ready then,” Gia’s soft sweet voice interrupted Belle’s silent brooding.
“You look stunning, my dear. Absolutely, divine.”
Belle had never seen her niece, Gaia’s only child, Gia, look more beautiful. She was simply radiant in the new gown they’d picked out together for the ball. The copper-beaded designer sheath was a perfect personification of the magickal enchantment of Mabon’s autumn splendor. It was beyond bewitching for the season of the Witch, especially for a woman who, thanks to her Aunt Angelica’s meddling, had no recollection that she was a witch.
Offering a silent “thank you” to the Lord and Lady, as well as to her best friend Suzie Witherspoon, tears filled Belle’s eyes, threatening to spill over her long lashes. It was Suzie and her family who had helped lead her to Gia, after five long years of having no idea where Angelica had hidden her.
“Why are you crying, Aunt Belle?” Gia asked, sitting down next to her on the white faux leather sofa in the yacht’s main salon.
“You look just like your mother. Looking at you, makes me feel as if I’m looking at her,” she said so softly she was almost whispering.
And, in a way, Belle knew that through Gia, she was seeing Gaia. If only she could break through Angelica’s powerful binding spell to once again connect with her sister on the magickal plane they once shared.
“I just wish I could remember her and remember how to be the good witch you and my mother raised me to be,” Gia said, frustration etched into her creased brows.
“Hopefully, you will after tonight’s ball,” Belle said, doing everything she could to make sure the universe continued to hear her will for her niece’s memory and powers to return, despite Angelica’s conspiring against that feat.
“I’m afraid, Aunt Belle.”
“So am I,” Belle said, telling her precious niece the truth, knowing it wouldn’t do either of them any good to sugarcoat the obstacles they had to face.
She turned Gia toward the gilt-edged dressing mirror still in the salon from when her stylist had delivered a variety of gowns to fit them both for the ball. The salon’s lighting danced across the thousands of earth-toned Swarovski crystals sweeping across Gia’s couture, halter-style Armani Privé gown. The effect truly was captivating and served as a perfect tribute to the colors of the season.
“Just remember,” she said, lightly squeezing her niece’s sculpted shoulders, trying to transfer as much warmth and love through her touch as possible, “you’re a Bishop, and somewhere inside of you, you’ve got the power to do this.”
“No offense, but Aunt Angelica is a Bishop, too.”
“So it says on paper,” Belle said, never believing that Angelica truly was born a Bishop. The dark power she thrived on just wasn’t in their gene pool.
“What do I do when I see her?” Gia asked, tiny goose bumps rising on her skin.
Belle tried to compensate for the chill that thoughts of Angelica always summoned by rubbing Gia’s arms with her hands. But, even as she did so, she felt that same chill cascading over her own flesh.
“The question really is - what will Angelica do when she sees you? But don’t worry. I’m not leaving your side. And Angelica wouldn’t dare make a scene in front of The Council and the neighboring covens.”
At least Belle didn’t think she would. But once she realized Gia had been found and brought back home to tap into her Bishop legacy, or relearn every skill if necessary, Angelica’s reaction could very well shock them all. If there was one thing Angelica Bishop excelled at, it was shock and awe.

D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras #4: Lighten Up! (with Imbolc, also known as Candlemas)
It's just about Imbolc/Candlemas, D. D. Scott-ville!
In the magickal witchery realm, that means it's time to "Lighten Up!"...from the inside out!
Beginning tomorrow night at sundown - February 1st - thru sundown on February 2nd, I'll be celebrating the witch's sabbat/holiday of Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid's Day.
I've talked about Brigid before as she's one of my all-time fave goddesses. You can learn more about her in my Magickal Mantra #2: Home and Hearth, Health and Wealth, O Bright One!
She is indeed The Bright One. The Triple Goddess of hearth, health and home, she's considered the keeper of the flame and therefore a wonderful source of light and illumination.
She was born at dawn and heralded a brilliant light (thus she's often referred to as The Bright One), which she forever maintains around the hearth of homes the world over. Because she illuminates life and keeps homes full of good health and love, prosperity/wealth (in all aspects) grows.
Here she is bringing light to a cold and snow-filled Winter night.
Imbolc marks the half-way point between Winter and Spring, and believe it or not, the earth and all of its amazing plants and flowers (some of its animals too) are beginning to wake up far beneath all that snow.
For thousands of years, people have celebrated this half-way point by bringing all the extra light into the world that they can - primarily using candles (thus...Candlemas).
I'll be doing something to this effect both outside and inside our home to light the way for Spring and to encourage more light and love in our hearts...
There are many other magickal correspondences for this fabulous witch's holiday too! For example, you can use the magick of flowers (called flower fascinations) using white and red carnations - white to symbolize the snow blanketing the earth and red for the flames from the fires we burn, whether in our hearths/fireplaces or by candlelight.
One of my favorite witches - Ellen Dugan, The Garden Witch, also uses the color purple to give her the comfort of knowing the gorgeous purple crocus will soon be popping out of the snow and ushering in Spring.
Note: I highly recommend you follow the Wheel of The Year with Ellen. She's just wonderful, totally witchy brilliant with superfab fun 'tude to go with it! I'm on her Pinterest almost every day, which is where I found these gorgeous images for Imbolc. And I'll have soon read all of her books! :-)
So, as we all settle in for the weekend and perhaps another cold, snow-filled Winter night (and if you don't have snow where you live, I've probably got some from here along the fab shores of Lake Michigan that I can share with you), light those candles and your heart along with the rest of the world!

D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras #3: Bubble Up!
Welcome Back to D. D. Scott-ville, where we're goin' magickal all year long!!!
As I finish the first book in my brand new Belle Bishop, Queen of Witches Series - PRACTICAL MISCHIEF, I thought I'd share with you a fantastic magickal tip that Belle teaches her niece Gia, who could be the next Queen of Witches, if she can recover her magickal abilities which are "lost," thanks to the magickal mischief and dark magick spells of her other powerful witch of an aunt, Angelica.
Gia, like many of us newbie witches, and even the most powerful of witches, have moments, whether among non-magickal mundanes or fellow magickal folks, where the environment is just too much for our psychic channels to handle.
Let me give you an example...
Going to the grocery (or any large public venue) is often a bit of a challenge for magickal folks. Especially if your talents include clairvoyant skills and/or intuitive and empathic skills.
Why is the grocery a problem?
Because your senses and psychic receptive areas are simply overwhelmed by all of the energies swirling around you.
Peeps with magickal skills are, in a nutshell, people who are very in tune with other peoples' energy as well as all of the energies in their surroundings. It's as if we have large signs on our foreheads that say: "Please allow me to feel, fret about, rejoice over and share everything you are feeling, thinking and worrying about."
So, how do we handle this pouring in of energy fields?
We BUBBLE UP!!!
Yep...think in terms of the gorgeous, sparkly purple and blue bubbles in the image above.
We literally envision large purple or deep blue bubbles and mist forming around us, protecting us and acting as a shield of sorts against all of the various feelings, thoughts, emotions and both positive and negative forces that want to share with us. It's our very own psychic armor so to speak.
Personally, my bubble is very Glinda the Good Witch. I've always sooo luuuvvved her...well...until I saw Wicked, which made me want to be a total Elphaba but in Glinda's fabulous bubble.
I'm getting to the point now where I don't have to BUBBLE UP unless I'm surrounded by people who I sense are very dark and those filled with a lot of negative, depressive energies.
In those rare cases when I do have to BUBBLE UP, because I honestly will do pretty much anything to just stay clear of those emo-monsters and psy-vamps period, I throw up my glowing and very sparkly purple bubble and actually borrow one of my fave lines from Glinda's script:
That's it, D. D. Scott-ville Peeps...when you're feeling overwhelmed, no matter where you are...in other words, if you're far from the quirky fabulous comfort of Oz or Munchkin Land, no need to worry...just...BUBBLE UP!!!

That's it, D. D. Scott-ville Peeps...when you're feeling overwhelmed, no matter where you are...in other words, if you're far from the quirky fabulous comfort of Oz or Munchkin Land, no need to worry...just...BUBBLE UP!!!

D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras: #2 - Hearth and Home, Health and Wealth, O Bright One
Merry Meet and Blessed Be, D. D. Scott-ville!
Here's a fabulous bit of Kitchen Witchery to fill your heart with the magick of hearth and home...
D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras: #2
Hearth and Home, Health and Wealth, O Bright One!
I'm a natural, eclectic witch, which means that my hearth and home and the natural energies surrounding it, as well as the natural elements (earth, fire, water and air) that I bring inside, create and empower the magick of my heart.
As is often chanted while conjuring up fabulously bewitching spells:
For this wonderfully magickal kitchen witchery, I gather together three, 7-day white candles (I buy them at The Dollar Store - for yep, just a buck each.) I also use a Black Sharpie and draw the ancient triskele ruin on the glass to symbolize and tap into the powers of the inspiring Celtic Goddess Brigid.
Brigid is the Triple Goddess of hearth, health and home. She's considered the keeper of the flame and therefore a wonderful source of light and illumination.
She was born at dawn and heralded a brilliant light (thus she's often referred to as The Bright One), which she forever maintains around the hearth of homes the world over. Because she illuminates life and keeps homes full of good health and love, prosperity/wealth (in all aspects) grows.
To welcome Brigid's kind of hearth and home, health and wealth energies into my home, I keep three candles (three for the Triple Goddess) lit at all times while I'm home. I keep them on our stove because of Brigid's hearth connection. Today's hearth is either your fireplace or your stove/oven.
I light my candles before dawn each morning and say:
"To Hearth and Home, Health and Wealth, O Bright One!"
And then I work each day with these fabulously warm and positive energies combined with everything I do. Each time I go into the kitchen, I see the candles burning bright and am reminded that my happy home is my number one priority.
What do you think, D. D. Scott-ville? Does this sound like a wee bit of kitchen witchery you'll try?
Blessed Be! --- D. D. Scott

D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras: #1 - An Apple a Day Brings Magick Your Way
Let's get magickal, D. D. Scott-ville!
Today, to celebrate my new wonderfully bewitching series - The Belle Bishop Books - which launch in late February with Book One, PRACTICAL MISCHIEF, I'm kicking off my new blog series filled with Magickal Mantras!
In this series, I'll treat you to a bunch of magickal spells, teach you to conjure up powerful warding witchery, and train you to work a little kitchen and garden magick too!
It all begins with this...
D. D. Scott's Magickal Mantras: #1 - An Apple a Day Brings Magick Your Way
Did y'all know that an apple is one of the most magickal of fruits?!
Why, it even has its very own five-pointed star (pentragram). Simply do a cross-section cut, and you'll see it!!!
Apple wood makes for a great wand, and the tree itself is a favorite of witches. When witches celebrate both Mabon (which is a Thanksgiving of sorts) and Samhain (a witch's Halloween), apples are used as a divination tool, decoration and as yummy treats. They are also symbolic of knowledge and illumination. And are thought to be a gateway to other realms such as faeryland and The Summerland (the land of the dead).
Need a great love spell? You might work with an apple.
Need a secret way to let someone know you are a witch? Then serve them an apple and cut it crosswise.
Need a great way to spread love, gratitude and generosity? Show it in apples and apple blossoms! :-)
I eat an apple a day, and it's not just about keeping the doctor away, although apples also represent healing. It's to bring more magick my way!!!
The Best of An Apple a Day Magickal Wishes --- D. D. Scott
P.S. I also enjoy red, apple-scented candles and use them for spellcasting.

What does D. D. Scott-ville Goin' Magickal mean?
For starters, in late February, my new humorous paranormal series - The Belle Bishop Books - will release with Book One: PRACTICAL MISCHIEF. Followed by Book Two and Book Three, PRACTICAL MADNESS and PRACTICAL MAYHEM.
Belle Bishop is the Queen of Witches...think very Catherine Zeta Jones but on a broom with some A-mazing magickal powers.

Buckley Belle
Named after my very own "familiar," Buckley...
Here he is with his fave magickal tool...his ball bell!!! :-)
Now then...not only will my new series debut in 2013, but also, I'll be sharing my love of magickal spellcasting with all of you wonderful D. D. Scott-ville Peeps!
Each week, I'll treat you to a little practical magick spell or tool that I use in my own home. We'll cover everything from prosperity spells to protection and love witchery to various healing and happiness magickal activities.
I'm a big believer in JK Rowling's wise words:
And I can't wait to share with you what I've learned in my magickal journey!!!

Here’s a Sneak Peek at Chapter One:
CHAPTER ONE
“Ring-a-ding-ding, Y’All!”
And no, I ain’t ringin’ some bell at a Salvation Army pot. Although, I do take part in that each holiday season.
But not today, folks. Not today.
I’m jinglin’ these damn sleigh bells as fast as my scrawny arms can shake ‘em ‘cause word has it that doing so this time of year could have some major ramifications.
First of all, it damn sure beats swallowing rocks. Would you believe that’s what those stupid ass Neanderthal cave men used to do? Before they figured out how to make bells, they swallowed rocks so their distended bellies would jingle when they were ready to mate. Romantic, right?
So, anyhoo…let’s get to my bells. Oh, but first, I’d better tell ya a bit about me.
I’m Lucy Weiss, retired from running my award-winning Meat n’ Three Diner in Nashville, Tennessee. Yep. Right there in Music City sits my diner, Lucy’s LunchBox Cafe. Every day, we serve up the Holy Trinity of White Vegetables – mac and cheese, white beans and mashed taters – plus the meat of your choice, barbecued, of course. Thus, we’re a Meat ‘n Three Diner. I can never understand why people can’t figure that out. But anyway, I’m Lucy. Although, my friends and family just call me Grams.
I guess I’m also a bit of what kids nowadays call a Quant. That’s a fancy name for one helluva computer genius – aka hacker. I can totally rock ‘n’ roll across any keyboard. And I can do things you ain’t never seen with a mouse.
Now then…about these bells…
I have it on good authority that ringing sleigh bells with gusto can not only ward off bad luck and evil spirits, and trust me, in this family, that’s important stuff. But also, these bells can attract meteorites!
Now, how cool would it be to see Santa Claus comin’ to town ridin’ the big ass tail of a meteorite?!
Okay. Just kidding…sort of. That’s not the reason I’m ringin’ bells. But, for the record, I do think Santa arriving by meteorite would be totally awesome.
And, since I’m gonna be piloting his sleigh this year, I do have a say in its operation. That’s right. You heard it straight from the main elf’s mouth. I, Lucy Weiss, am finally going to be able to check off the top item on my Bucket List, which is to be at the helm of Santa’s sleigh on the most magickal night of all nights. Yes indeed, hold onto your Santa hats! I’m in charge of this year’s Big Red Ride.
I’m so excited about this opportunity that I could stand out here, at Santa’s North Pole, along the fabulous shores of Lake Michigan, and jingle these damn bells all day long!
But wait…there’s more!
I’ve also been told by one of my sources that, if I’m the first sleigh bell dingler of the season, I’ll herald the arrival of Dietger, the gaily-clad King of Winter and his splendiferous Ice Court. Now, mind you, I’m a huge fan of the Ice Capades, but I’m thinkin’ this might even top that. Who’d settle for just reindeer when you could have reindeer on your roof-top and the Ice Capades too?!
That brings me to exactly why I’m putting everything I’ve got into shakin’ these bells.
I also have my own King of Winter, and he’ll be my sidekick in this grand adventure. That would be my significant other, and Santa’s BFF, Father Time. I hooked up with him last year during one helluva holiday hullabaloo right here at George and Suzie Witherspoon’s gingerbread house – aka Santa and Mrs. Claus’ North Pole.
But my Babycakes, Father Time, has some serious issues. Ever since Baby New Year busted his hourglass, he’s been in quite a funk. Nobody messes with Father Time’s scythe or his hourglass. And talk about bad timing. We’ve got exactly one month to pull off Christmas, so timing is EVERYTHING!
Luckily though, I’ve now got him trained better than one of Pavlov’s dogs. No more of that “like sands through the hourglass” soap opera baloney. In a manner of speaking, he’s been saved by the bells. Well, that or he’ll be salivating like hell.
Here he comes now…
Poor guy. He looks like he’s in a drunk and dazed stupor. Speaking of which, he drinks way too much of that silly elf Wanda Lu’s brandy and cocoa. Well, at least it takes his mind off of that damn hourglass. And...it makes the stress of being in charge of The Big Red Ride somewhat tolerable.
