Fiction Friday: Two books & other bookish news
It's spring, and that means many new books are coming out right now. I wanted to tell you about a couple today. One comes out at the beginning of May and the other released this week. There truly is something for every reader with these.

The Story Behind: Sandhill Dreams
With my World War II novels, my starting point is usually a historic fact. To find it for books two and three, I started asking people what they knew about Nebraska and WWII. I don't remember exactly how, but I stumbled on the idea that something must have happened at Fort Robinson at the time.

Me? Write a Historical? The birth of Canteen Dreams
Imagine my surprise and delight when the first night of the 2006 ACFW conference, JoAnne Simmons called me to the front at the opening session to give me my first contract for Canteen Dreams. The prior year I had watched Mary Connealy receive her contract and thought, "it is possible. That could happen to me." I had no idea it would happen so quickly, or that it would be such a magical moment.

What has resonated in my heart with startling clarity is the idea that God is I AM. Not I was (You're too late. If you'd come earlier, I could have helped you, but it's too late. You've missed your window. So sorry.). Not I will be (You're too early. You're not ready. You're not good enough. You're not clean enough. You have too much sin still coating your life). Instead, He is the I AM. I AM enough. I AM the perfect sacrifice. I AM the one who took care of it all. I AM the one with a plan. I AM the way. In this moment, I AM.
