Summer Bookclub: Week 3 God of the Wild

Today we're looking at chapter three, God of the Wild. This chapter thrilled me because it was all about God and His glory. I don't know about you, but I want my life to matter for Him and for His glory. Everything else is dust that doesn't last.

Walking Tour of Florence

Today I'd like to take you on a walking tour of Italy. The last week of my stay, I was on my own. Being me, that meant finding reasons to walk as far as I could. On this particular day I actually got out a tour book and selected a walking tour that would take me to some sites I already knew and a few that I didn't.

Fiction Friday: A Read for Everyone

For today’s Fiction Friday, I wanted to bring you two of the books I read this week in Italy. Beneath Copper Falls is available for a pre-order ebook sale of $4.99 right now, and Heart on the Line just released this week. Both were really enjoyable reads, and authored by two of my go-to authors. I know with Colleen Coble ... Read More

Summer Bookclub: Week 2 Caged by Our Limitations

This week we're looking at chapter 2 inWild and Free, We have become caged by our limitations. In this chapter Haley addresses head on the reality for many women: We feel like we are too much and not enough all at the same time. The result? Defensive living.

If we live defensively, we will miss the fullness and richness God has for us. We will miss opportunities to partner with God because we are so focused on ourselves we miss the needs of the world around us.

Lessons from a da Vinci

One of the places we went last week was the Uffizi Gallery. If you've read Shadowed by Grace, you know that some pivotal scenes in that book happen at the Uffizi, so it was an absolute thrill to go there last year on a tour with the students. But when you tour with a group, you don't get to savor and enjoy the art. It's a rush to the five or so paintings that the art critics consider important, and then you move on to the next painting or place. This year we wanted to savor and soak in. I didn't expect revelation as we did.

Wild & Free: What it means

There's something about the words wild and free. They capture my imagination. Though I live in a staid, rule-laced box, I want to live a life that runs off the path and into wildness. Just ask my husband about the Grand Canyon. And I long to live a life that is free of other's expectations and the voices in my head.

How to Help Authors: Write Reviews

Periodically, I'll get to spend time with readers or developing writers. I absolutely love it. There's something so fun about rediscovering books through the eyes of a book club. Or to talk about why they want to write with new writers. Often it will come up that they'd like to help and encourage their favorite authors, but they don't always know how.
