Cancer Prevention- Cabbage is a powerhouse of fiber and vitamins
Cabbage is a powerhouse of fiber and vitamins such as vitamin C, K, E, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), thiamin (vitamin B1) and minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, folate, and magnesium.
Vitamin K also helps with mental function and concentration, the nutrients also prevents nerve damage, improves your defense against Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Diabetes Prevention and Maintenance
Cabbage is very low in calories and fat and it contains sulphorapane and anthocyanin which is found in high quantities in Red Cabbage. The Anthocyanin present in cabbages helps to boosts insulin production and lowers the blood sugar levels; Cabbage there by helps reduce the risk of developing Diabetes.
Weight Loss Benefits
It is excellent for weight loss simply because it is very low in calories and fats, it is rich in vitamins minerals and fibers which is also excellent for weight management. To capitalize on the weight loss benefits of cabbage it is best to eat it raw; it offers the most nutritional value that way. Consuming cabbage at least three to four times per week speeds up your weight loss process and meets your nutritional needs as well.
Cancer Prevention
Cabbage has anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant properties, which protects the body against breast, colon and prostate cancers, and reduces bad cholesterol levels. Sautéed or steamed cabbage has more cholesterol lowering effects than the raw cabbage. Cabbages also have anti-inflammatory properties.
The uniqueness of cabbage in cancer prevention is due to the three different types of nutrient richness. They are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and glucosinolates. Polyphenols top the rank of the list for phytonutrients in cabbage.
When there is not sufficient intake of antioxidant the oxygen metabolism becomes unstable causing chronic oxidative stress, this in collaboration with an insufficient intake of anti-inflammatory nutrients compromises the inflammatory system causing chronic inflammation, these are risk factors for the development of cancer.
Seeing that oxidative stress and chronic inflammation are cancer risk factors, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant contents in cabbage would provide anti-cancer health benefits without the inclusion of glucosinolates in cabbage. Glucosinolates are converted isothiocyanates which prevents many varieties of cancer such as bladder, breast, colon, and prostate cancers.
Types of Cabbage
There are many different types of cabbage such as nappa cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, bok choi or pak choi and Brussel sprout, different types of cabbages have different glucosinolates.
Cabbage juice is good for helping heal stomach ulcers (peptic ulcers). The ITCs (isothiocyanates) made from cabbage can lower the risk of unwanted stomach bacteria. Whether cooked or raw cabbage is heart healthy, this is so because it lowers cholesterol levels. Red cabbage contains more health benefits than green cabbage.
This vegetable is excellent and must be included on the weight management table for those wanting to get rid of the extra pounds, it is very filling and has superb health benefits, so do not be afraid to add to your diet plan, eat and enjoy.
Live well and healthy it does the body good.

Ways to Get Rid of Facial Marks and Acne Scars
It is no secret that the acne represents a serious dermatological problem which affects a lot of people in all ages. Mainly, it is the most present among the teens and young adolescents, although they may be present at other life stages as well. Besides the discomfort and the visual issues they represent, they also have other effects. A lot of people feel insecure and self-conscious when they have the acne. Moreover, the acne leaves scars that are quite a tricky thing to cure and conceal. Here are some of the main things that you need to know about the acne and the scar treatments in order to do all you can to avoid them.
Acne Causes
In order to know more about how to fight acne and the way they affect your skin, you need to know what causes them. The first and the most important cause of the acne are the hormones. The hormones that are responsible for the acne are the androgens. They affect the sebaceous glands and they make them produce more sebum which is how the acne come to be. The sebum destroys the cell walls and the bacteria come in, causing infections the manifest as the acne. Besides the hormones, the acne may be caused by a bad diet and certain medications. However, once they appear, it is important to treat the cause as well as the effects.
Acne Treatments
The treatment depends on the type of acne and the level of their manifest. Women with hormonal problems usually regulate the acne by using contraceptive pills. Since the acne are caused by the bacteria entering cells and causing infections, in some cases, the acne are treated with certain type of antibiotics. Besides this medication, other types of medicines that are used include azelaic acid, topical antibiotic, topical retinoid and other types of local treatments. Regardless of the option that you choose with your doctor, it is important to know that the acne treatment is long and it takes a lot of patience.
Scaring
When the acne happens, that means that the cell walls are destroyed and that the infection has penetrated deep into the skin. Once this happens, the skin tissue is being damaged and your body attempts to fix it and get it into the previous state. In order to do that, it will produce collagen to fix the damaged tissue. The right amount of collagen fixes the tissue and it doesn’t leave a scar. However, too much and too little collagen make scars. Too little collagen will make what is called depressed acne scars which manifest as dips in the skin. Too much collagen will make raised scars that are above the level of your other skin. Scars can be prevented by the proper treatment which comes in due time and popping and squeezing of the acne should be avoided by all costs as they are certain ways to end up with acne scars.
Treating Scars
Once the scars are there, there are some things that can be done about them. If they are not prevented, there are methods in which they can be treated. There are some home remedies and some chemical-free treatments. Also, there are medical options which can include laser skin rejuvenation. For starters, you need to keep your skin moisturized because scars develop more easily on dry skin. Also, you can make some homemade masks, especially the one that includes simply grating saw potato and applying it to your face. Besides these things, you may want to undergo some laser treatments, use fillers of scars and many other methods that are widely available today. You can also do what can be done by using cortisone and fade creams which will render your scar less visible.
Acne are a big problem for young people, but the scars that are left after them also make significant problems during life. Some of those scars are easily concealed and they are not that big esthetic issue, while some represent a very big problem and a painful spot in self-confidence of some people. Therefore, choose the treatment you feel works the best for you and get rid of the scars.

Things to Know Before Undergoing the Cataract Surgery
The cataract is actually the health condition that affects the lens of your eye. The lens is the part of the eye that is found right underneath the colored part of the eye and it gathers the light rays, directing them to the retina, in this way enabling the eye to see correctly. However, when the cataract starts, your eye lens starts to alter and it becomes clouded. Its color changes and it gets yellow color that prevents the light to touch the retina in a focused way. Once this starts, it is not going back and it can even progress further until the lens is completely clouded. This means that it doesn’t let the light into the eye which means that the person is blind.
What Causes the Cataract?
It is hard to say what will cause the cataract to happen. The most common cause and reason for the cataract development is the old age. The structure of the lens changes and the cataract develops. However, the same can be caused by some sort of injury. Also, besides the injury, the eye surgery can be a factor of risk. Other medical problems and issues such are genetic disorders, diabetes and high blood pressure. All these can in some way alter the structure of the lens and make it less transparent.
Could This Be Prevented?
It is highly unlikely to prevent the cataract from developing. There have been some studies that tried to observe the influence of vitamin E and selenium to the cataract development, but they showed that the influence is insignificant. The best you can do is to prevent the disorders and medical conditions that can cause the cataract and lead healthier lifestyle so that your body has great general health. This means ceasing smoking and leading
healthy lifestyle to prevent high blood pressure and diabetes. Also, it means taking good care of your eyes and preventing any type of injury at all costs.
What Does the Surgery Look Like?
The surgery today is a very routine and very effective procedure. With the use of laser, this type of surgery is pretty common and very effective. What happens during the surgery is that it is done in local anesthesia. Once the anesthetics are given to the patient, a small incision is made in cornea. Through this incision, the lens is vacuumed out. If it is to be replaced entirely by the artificial lens, then sometimes, the lens is broken into pieces by the ultrasound device and sucked out. When the lens is removed it is replaced by the artificial one. This lens can be acrylic, silicone or plastic. Once it is installed, you don’t need glasses and it doesn’t require any special care on your part. While there are risks to this surgery, the success rate is almost 99%.
What is the Recovery Period?
During the first couple of days, you need to be very careful about the eyes and the post op procedure. The pain that is felt should be managed with pain relief medications. Also, it is important that you use eye drops that your doctor has prescribed because they are liquid form antibiotics that prevent any sort of infection that could happen to the eye. After that, a couple of weeks is needed for the eye to heal and for the incision to heal completely. The vision can still be blurry and not that clear because of the time needed for the eye to get used to its renewed function. The vision may take as long as several months to be completely restored to normal.
It is important that you are ready for the cataracts treatment in form of the surgery because that is the only way to heal this type of health issue. The good sides of this treatment are the fact that the vision is completely restored, the cataract is permanently removed and in most cases the vision is fixed in a way that you probably don’t even need the glasses anymore. Another great side is the success rate of this surgery which is very high. It is all about determining to get healthy as medicine is here to help you with that.

Best Home Remedies for Acne & Pimples
Best Home Remedies for Acne & Pimples
The biggest problem anyone faces when it comes to face care is how to effectively and quickly deal with acne and pimples. It is important to protect your skin, as it is protecting your body from many issues as well. Acne and pimples are basically clogged up pores and dirt gathering on the surface of your skin, and in order to take good care of your skin, it is important to keep it clean and to regularly cleanse it properly.
Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might fix the problem immediately, the chemicals might leave scars and bigger problems behind after, which is not something you would want. Opting for natural remedies is not only better, but it will spare your skin from scarring and leaving marks behind. Moreover, some remedies are easy to make and even easier to apply, so that you can save some money on skincare products.
Wash your face twice daily
It is important to keep your skin clean, by washing your face twice daily you will be able to remove all the filth and bacteria that is just waiting to clog up your pores. Moreover, it is not a good idea to wash more than twice daily, as it will ruin your skin and it can even dehydrate it; which is why you should moisturize immediately after washing your face.
Also, it is not a good idea to use any harsh chemicals nor too hard face scrubs as they can damage the skin. It would be preferable to use acne soap so that you help your skin become cleaner. The soap should be sulfur based and it should help clear up and congestion formed on your skin. Remember that too much scrubbing and force can stimulate the oil glands to produce more oil; too much oil causes acne and pimples to pop up.
Honey masks
Using a honey based face mask once or twice a week is a good idea to clear up and disinfect your skin. Honey has antibacterial properties, and it is great for even healing minor blemishes. Furthermore, even people with sensitive skin can use a honey mask as it is gentle and will not cause any damage.
Papaya face mask
Not only is papaya a tasty fruit, but it also a great face mask that will help your skin get clean and it will remove most of the dirt and dead skin cells which could potentially clog up pores and create acne or pimples. However, be aware that sensitive skin will require moisturizing after the treatment.
Chromium in your diet
Including chromium in your diet is a great way to help lose weight and to also heal infection on the skin. By taking chromium supplements, you will help your skin get cleaned up quickly and it will prevent future pimples and acne breaking out. However, if you notice that even after chromium you have severe acne, then you should consider visiting a dermatologist and getting asap skin care.
Multi-vitamins
Acne will not only show up when you have something wrong on the surface of your skin, but it can also show up if you have something wrong on the inside. And in most cases, reaching for a multi-vitamin cocktail can solve most of your nutritional and acne problems.
No makeup
For women it is important to reduce makeup wear and to try and go all natural, this way you will be able to let your skin breathe and let the pores get cleaned more. Moreover, makeup can sometimes clog up pores and make pimples and acne show up more than they would regularly.
Acne remedies
It is vital that you fight the urge to squeeze and pick pimples and acne, but try not to. You will cause more damage than you should. Moreover, by squeezing pimples you will rupture the membranes below in your skin, causing more infections and an increase in oil production, which will eventually lead to more pimples being formed. Make sure that you also clean your hands when applying any masks as you might be applying a thin layer of dirt and bacteria to help from acne on your skin.

First I place a little water into the pan and I add the oats same time. When its warm (not boiled) , I add bananas , Nuts, Raisin, Essence and a tad bit of sugar. Then I stir it and leave for 1 minute then I pour in the milk and stir, leave for 30 seconds , then turn it off.
Then to top it off I add pineapples and pawpaw . A Deeper Insight Into Pre-Workout Nutrition
A Deeper Insight Into Pre-Workout Nutrition
No matter if you want to stay fit or you want to increase your muscle mass, you certainly know that nutrition can make or break the entire process. Getting the body you have always wanted requires more than just strength, ambition and determination: in addition to the regular gym workouts and the cardiovascular training, you also need to adopt a healthy lifestyle and a balanced and nutritious diet. This is where pre-workout supplements step in and help you reach your goal in a fast, healthy, efficient and timely manner.
How Do Pre-Workout Nutrition Supplements Benefit You?
These supplements will benefit you on many different levels, regardless of your fitness goal: not only do they increase your strength and improve your overall performance, but they also increase your endurance which means that you will be able to work out more during each training session. On the other hand, the pre-workout nutrition supplements also increase the protein synthesis in the body, it decreases the muscle breakdown during the workout (a fairly normal process, yet one that can be very painful at the end of the workout) and it also improves your ability to focus while boosting your energy levels at the same time. If taken on a regular basis, these supplements can also restore your natural hormonal balance and increase your natural metabolic rate, thus allowing you to burn more fat within a shorter period of time, and this will certainly come in handy for your cardiovascular workout routine.
An Overview Of Pre-Workout Supplements: How Do They Work And How Will They Help You?
As the experts from Australian Protein King claim: “The formulas that make up the most part of the Pre-Workout Supplements consist mainly of Nitric Oxide, Amino Acids, Beta Alanine, AAKG, Creatine Monohydrate, Taurine, BCAAs as well as stimulants, such as Caffeine”.
These are the perfect ingredients for those who want to get stronger, to improve their performance and to increase their endurance at the same time. If you take these supplements on a regular basis, you will be able to recover faster and more efficiently from each workout, and you will also be able to lift more weight than before.
The Creatine Monohydrate, one of the key ingredients in pre-workout nutrition supplements, aims to maximize your strength and to help you grow your muscles in a natural and time-effective manner. Creatine will make sure that the muscle creatine stores are always topped off which will, in turn, allow you to lift maximum weighs every time. The creatine also increases the number of reps, and it will help you gain muscle mass in record-time. All you have to do is to take one dose half an hour prior to your workout session.
Taurine is yet another important ingredient, and this is basically an amino acid that is naturally found in the body. Nonetheless, it is important to say that Taurine is different from most of the other amino acids, and it is involved in many different physiological processes. In a nutshell, Taurine has outstanding antioxidant properties, it supports the structure of the cell membranes and it also helps controlling the fluid balance within your body throughout the length of the entire workout.
Just like Taurine, Beta-Alanine is yet another amino acid that has the unique ability of decreasing the levels of carnosine present in the muscle tissue, while Caffeine acts as an efficient stimulant and an irreproachable performance enhancer. No matter if you drink coffee on a daily basis or this is the first time you take caffeine, you will instantly start to notice its benefits on the central nervous system.
Caffeine has the unique ability of improving the function of your metabolism and speeding up your metabolic rate, by simply releasing fatty acids into your blood, thus “tricking” your body into burning the fat supplies for energy. On the other hand, Caffeine will also benefit you from a muscle growth stand point, as it increases your ability to focus on your training and it also improves limb coordination.
Last, but not least, the BCAAs are branched chain amino acids (valine, isoleucine and leucine) that are known for reducing the muscle tissue breakdown, which will give your body a well-deserved energy boost when it needs it the most.
