Tips to get your kids to eat healthier

Firstly it would be easier for your kids to eat healthier if you start giving them healthy foods from a every young age. If you wait until they are older , such 5 or 6 years , chances are you would have tough time getting them to eat the vegetables.

1)      First tip , you have to use psychology on your kids, simple do not tell them that there are vegetables in the meal you prepare for them.

2)      Cut the veggies up very fine, use a chopper if you wish such as the Vidalia Chop Wizard. This can cut up the veggies very fine in a short space of time.

3)      Put the vegetables in foods that your kids like, for example if you child enjoys eating scrambled eggs you can add finely chopped veggies to it.When I’m doing scrabbled eggs I like to add, onions, garlic, flavor peppers or pimento.

4)      Make the dish look pretty use veggies with different colors.

5)      Variation is key;  don’t give your child the same type of vegetable/s every day

6)      Avoid plain vegetables such as broccoli by its-self or tomatoes by its-self.

7)      A bribe works at times, give you child a reward when they eat all the food with the veggie. It can be extra TV time, extra game time, going to friends house etc.

Everyday tips for getting and staying fit

Try as we all might not to eat too much during the holiday season, the lack of exercise has probably taken its toll. Not only were you spending time with your family at the dining table, but you were probably hanging out on the sofa too much as well. All of this was fine until you stepped on the scale and noticed the unwanted figures. Do not despair: there are tricks which will help you lose those few pounds and you won’t even realize it is happening until they are gone!

Be on the move

Try to walk whenever you can, instead of driving. If you don’t live too far from the place where you work, you could walk there and back. It may mean starting out earlier than you’re used to, but a twenty-minute walk a day is all you need to start shedding those pounds!

staying fit , one pound less

If you still need to use your car, you could park at least two miles from your desired destination. When you get to work, take the stairs instead of the elevator! You’re not tied down to your computer and your office chair. Try to stand and work for a bit. If you have your own office, you might even try doing some exercises, which will help you focus and stimulate blood flow. Take a walk to the bathroom during breaks to refresh yourself with a glass of water and try to walk to the nearest market when you need something, not order food to the office.

You are what you eat and drink

The main key to being fit is a healthy, well-balanced diet. Don’t force your body to go through “super-effective” crash diets. They will probably cause more harm than good. Sometimes these diets have visible results after two weeks or even less; however, it’s not fat you’re losing, your body is simply releasing water. You don’t want your organism to dehydrate. On the contrary, you should drink as much water as you can and replace sodas with healthier drinks such as green tea.

Healthy Eating Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

Eat basically whatever you like, but try to have small amounts of food several times a day. Eating food in big amounts is not good for your body. Eastern cultures might have the answer: if you eat less spicy food, you will satisfy both your senses and your appetite.  The best formula to arrange your meals is 3-4 larger meals and 2-3 snacks (snacks mean a piece of fruit, not a bar of chocolate!). Of course, you can still eat sweets, just not in excessive amounts, and try to stay away from the pre-packaged stuff: you can make tasty sweats yourself, which are low in sugar, and which will satisfy your taste buds.

Another good idea is to add a little something extra to your diet, which will both keep you healthier and more energized. Even though you may think supplementing your diet is not necessary if you’re not aiming to be a bodybuilder, this is not the case. Adding vitamins to your everyday diet will help you, as your body will be better prepared for the exercises you are introducing it to, and it will also recover faster both from exercising and from any illness. Replacing your daily chocolate bar with a whey protein concentrate, full of amino acids, will boost your energy levels and get you fit faster.

Energize and be positive

The best way to start your day is with a smile. The beginning is the hardest part, everything else is much easier. If you did only a few easy exercises in the morning to warm up your muscles, you would feel much more energized for the rest of the day; and maybe you could even try some Yoga. Even if you don’t have the time to join a class, you can find some step-by-step guides and try incorporating them into your daily routine. By repeating some of these exercises for a week, you will get used to it very quickly and it will become a habit.

staying fit

Every day is a new opportunity and a gift which you should take with gratitude and make the best of it. Stick to your decision to stay healthy and be positive. Keep in mind that your goal should not only be looking perfect, but living a long and healthy life as well. The best way to achieve this is to make small changes to your lifestyle, which will definitely pay off in the long run.

It also limits neuronal damage in the brain in patients suffering with Alzheimer’s disease.

Lettuce contains a substantial amount of folates and vitamin C. Folates are essential for DNA synthesis and play a great role in neural tube defects in the baby (fetus) during pregnancy. While vitamin C being a natural and powerful antioxidant, helps the body to develops resistance against infectious agents and the harmful free radicals.

Why Healthy Eating Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

When it comes to doing the weekly shop, many of us believe that healthy food is expensive. It’s not surprising that we believe it costs more to eat healthy when we go to the supermarket and we see that all of the unhealthy processed foods are as little as £1 but healthy and fresh food is much more. However, it is possible to eat healthy on low budget, it just takes preparation and you may also be surprised to find that a lot of the expense actually comes from your shopping habits.

Here are some ways in which you can buy healthy food without spending a fortune; you’ll be surprised at how easy it can be.

Change your shopping habits

First of all, don’t go food shopping when you’re hungry – you’ll be tempted by all of the unhealthy food on offer and you’ll buy more than you need to. Here are a few tips:

-          Choose products from the back of the shelf as that’s where the best dates are;

-          Avoid food in too much packaging, because it’s the packaging that you’re paying for;

Plan your meals before you shop, work out what you’re going to cook throughout the week and then make a list of what you need to buy. This way you won’t get side tracked because you’ll know exactly which food you need and where to find it.

Frozen is just as nutritious

Frozen fruit and veg is just as good for us as fresh, and it means that you can keep it in the freezer until it needs to be added to a meal. You may find that you get more for your money too. Tinned fruit and veg is also just as healthy, try to look for 100% fruit juice or no added salt – some of these tins cost as little as 30p so you can always stock up.

Buy cheaper brands

Many of us believe that cheaper brands don’t taste as good as the more expensive and well-known brands. This isn’t always the case; Money Saving Expert found that you could save 30% on your shopping bill when you buy a supermarket’s own brand products, and they taste just as good.

Save money on meat

Meat is the main ingredient in many meals, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be the most expensive. Try buying the cheaper cuts of meat, it will still taste just as succulent once you’ve slow cooked it in a slow cooker, or a range cooker such as a Rangemaster. It’s also cheaper to buy a whole chicken as you’ll get more for your money – you can freeze whatever you don’t use.

Freeze everything

If you want to buy fresh fruit, veg and meat then you can simply chop them up and store them in the freezer until they are needed, this ensures that you always have something healthy to add to a meal. When you make meals you could also make double the amount and then put one half in the freezer

or eat it the next day for lunch, this will prevent you from nipping to the supermarket to buy a quick unhealthy meal when you have no ingredients at home – it also saves you cooking time in the week.

Healthy Eating Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive

Add herbs and spices

Healthy food doesn’t just mean carrots, apples and broccoli; you can experiment with it too. Try adding some kidney beans and other pulses and herbs to your diet, they are very cheap to buy and they can be added to a variety of meals too. Fruit and veg that are in season are also cheaper so keep an eye out for those, don’t forget about herbs and spices too, they last for a long time and they provide added flavour to any meal.

Grow your own

You may have to invest a little in the beginning but it will be worthwhile when you have fresh and organic vegetables whenever you need them. You don’t need to have an allotment either as some fruit and veg, such as tomatoes and cabbage, can actually be grown inside.

Shop online

Shopping online allows you to price check food before you commit to buying. It may also prevent you from buying food just because it’s on offer.

Healthy alternatives

Try swapping your usual ingredients for a healthy alternative, it’s a fun way to mix things up and as you’ll already have plenty of healthy food in your house from your new food shop it’ll be cheaper. Here are some examples to get your started:

-          Chocolate chip cookies for raisin cookies with almond flour instead of wheat flour;

-          Frozen chips for home cooked sweet potato chips;

-          A frozen or takeaway pizza for a home-made pizza cooked and crisped to perfection in the oven;

-          Sugar cereal for low-fat yoghurt with fresh or dried fruit;

-          Salt for herbs and spices.

While buying healthy food may seem expensive at first, once you’ve altered your shopping habits and cut out the processed food you’ll soon reap the benefits – better health, tastier meals and a healthier bank balance. How do you eat healthy while on a budget?

While it wasn’t immediately clear who was behind the late morning attack, French officials viewed it as a blatant act of terrorism. And there were fears things could get worse, with the assailants still on the loose.

“We need to find the actors of this terrorist act,” French President Francois Hollande said. “They must be arrested and brought before judges and condemned as quickly as possible. France is shocked today.”
