Kiki and other LULZ October 2010

Hot damn, how is it almost the end of October all ready? Here are some pics as I have not uploaded any in a long while.

This is one of those reusable grocery bags. Kiki claimed it for herself long ago.

When I try to look sexy it comes off arrogant + geeky.

She is on my shoulder as I type this post, I'm not kidding!

Poses like this are how she earned the name Demon Seed.

Vegan Muenster Cheeze

Vegan "muenster" cheese. I made it from the recipe last night and it turned out as it should, but honestly the jury's still out. For any of you that are familiar with a. Monty Python or b. authentic medieval cuisine I've got one word: blancmange.

Fast forward to about 3:10 to see a man lose to a blancmange in tennis.

Here's the recipe:

1 1/2 cups water

5 T. agar flakes or 2 1/2 t. agar powder (agar is seaweed based gelatin substitute)

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup raw cashews
1/2 c...

Almost cuter than my Kiki . . . I said almost.

The person's finger is kinda stubby to begin with . . . that's one tiny little baby pygmy marmoset.

Must . . . continue . . . the cute!!!

This one is marmoset with Daddy!

From Wiki: The Pygmy Marmoset or Dwarf Monkey (Cebuella pygmaea) is a New World monkey native to the rainforest canopies of western Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, and northern Bolivia. It is one of the smallest primates, and the smallest true monkey, with its body length ranging from 14 to...

My Little Photoshop of Horrors

I've been taking life a little bit too seriously and I need to lighten up for sure. Last night my hubby and I laughed our fool heads off when he googled "Photoshop mistakes."

Photoshop, in the hands of a careless/tired/overworked designer, can yield unimaginable horrors that would make even H.P. Lovecraft shudder. Whether it's disembodied hands that appear out of other dimensions to grope unwitting victims or malproportioned or missing limbs, Photoshop can render chillingly innocuous...

Delicious Easy Black Bean Soup, Date-Lemon Squares

After a long day @ work I made a bunch of comfort food, didn't even eat any of it, and then cried like a baby over an ancient 1995 vegetarian video on YouTube. So damn PMS today. Sigh.

Maybe if I give you the recipes something good will have come of it.

Black Bean Soup

2 cups water
1 big can black beans (frijoles negros) or 2 small cans
2 chopped carrots
2 teaspoons of onion flakes
2 cloves chopped garlic
3/4 cup approximately salsa, homemade or store bought
1 veg. broth cube
1 tablespoon olive oil

. . . August . . . is hot.

August is always the same. 90+ degrees of wet heat. It's hard to eat, but once you start eating, you're ravenous. I've been living on cucumber gazpacho from a recipe I learned at Veggie Fest by my chef idol, Louise Hagler. It's yummy. I will provide the recipe soon.

August is the season when I think all women want to cut their hair off. Probably because it is so hot. In this weather, the split ends get worse and there is tons of frizz. I am resisting haircuts because my hair doesn't ...
