Sali the LSW here, I am posting Dry Bones Golden Oldies in the fond memory of Yaakov. Not much in terms of Israel and the rest of the world changes, Here is a Dry Bones cartoon from 2012. I did not intend to post more than twice a week, but there are so many thousands of good cartoons to chose from, that I keep posting more.

But it is very depressing for me to look at all of them, both because of the memories that it brings to me of Yaakov's greatness and his humanity and his absence from my life, and of our depressing status as Israel to the other nations. Thanks to all of you so much.

 I hope to be posting old Dry Bones cartoons to you a couple of times a week. Maybe I will post more often as it becomes easier for me. There is certainly plenty of wonderful and still relevant cartoons. I will try to keep his legacy alive and as I learn to use the Blog program. 

Yaakov gave me the nickname of LSW back over 10 years ago when we were doing and marketing the Dry Bones Haggadah and I was doing most of the marketing work and all of the shipping and handling and I was super frazzled. He meant it both as true and as a loving way of connecting me to the Dry Bones brand. So I will keep the name here, although my actual name is Sali Ariel and I am a painter, an artist by profession. We were together for 50 years and it was a second marriage for us both. I am not used to this widow thing, and am just learning how to live without him being a constant and full time, overriding presence in my life. So I want to thank you all for going along on this journey with me. Sometimes I am fine, and accomplishing all the administrative and housekeeping chores with so many changes, and sometimes I burst into tears of grief for no real reason, or with minor reminders of him.

It has been 10 days since Yaakov (Dry Bones) passed away

Sali, the LSW Posting for Yaakov. I was not able to make a blog posting till now. Our dear beloved Yaakov Kirschen passed away on April 14, 2025 at the age of 87. I am so devastated. I will try to eventually post some of his old but still relevant cartoons, and keep his blog alive. Thanks to everyone who have sent me condolances and memories. Thank you also so much to everyone who donated. I will try to keep you all up to date and with some oldies but goodies. If anyone feels like donating to help out the LSW, here is a link. Happy Passover! Dry Bones and the LSW could use your help this year

Dear readers and supporters, Sali, the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) here. First, wishing everyone a joyful, healthful and peaceful Passover holiday from Yaakov and myself. We are so very grateful for the many supporters who have given funds, prayers, help in many ways. I apologize for not quickly thanking you all personally. I have been very overwhelmed and am now sick myself.

Yaakov was taken to the hospital with pneumonia last week. He was sent back to the rehabilitation after intense treatment and testing. He was also having strong hallucinations and confusion. It seems to have been caused by both fever and medications. He still has lingering pneumonia but is off the meds and getting slowly better again. But he is very weak. 

I however, ignoring warnings to rest, as there is just no one to replace me, got very sick with sinus infection and pneumonia. I wish that I had a wife!!!! I ran a 38 degree plus temperature for 5 days and finally my doctor changed the antibiotic and it has seemed to help, so today finally my temperature is down to normal, but now my back is having painful spasms. Probably I was in bed too much. 

We are having to find a new caregiver for when Yaakov is able to come home. I rented an electric crane from Yad Sarah (a wonderful organization by the way). and now we have the electric wheelchair that I bought, so with a strong caretaker, we should hopefully be able to get by. I am told though that we might need to hire 2 caretakers to be able to lift him. He is scheduled to come home on May 5th.

In any case I will have to pay double salaries for 2 months as our old caretaker of almost 6 happy years, has to be paid a very large pension and an extra month salary. I have most of it saved up, but it is coming out to more than I expected. But I am sure that I will be more optimistic and cheerful once I am feeling better physically. There is a lot of paperwork and computer work to do that seems very daunting at the moment. 

Yaakov is keeping on occasionally doing his cartoons. We have the help of our graphic design friend S.Kim Glassman and she has made the doing of the cartoons possible. He feels the calling to be able to help fight for the cause of the Jewish People with his satirical  cartoons. Please help if you are able, and I totally understand if you are not able, then please help with your good thoughts and prayers. I, and we, appreciate it all and are very very grateful. Here is a Passover cartoon to enjoy! We pray for the hostages and our soldiers too. Much love to all!
