Flooding is not new to the Philippines
Flooding is not new to the Philippines. But current flood control projects afflicted by “kleptosirosis” is!
A description of flooding can be found in the 17th century Jesuit account of Pedro Chirino. This photo from the early 20th century shows Pinoys wading in a flood, what is new today is catching leptospirosis from floodwaters.

Here we had breaded frog legs, ham duck rice, and “Bomba Soup.”Araling Panlipuna taught me that Tomas Pinpin was the “Prince of Filipino Printers.” When I asked who are the King and Queen of Filipino Printers? From page 35 of the 1938 Catalog of Paintings, Sculptures and Historical Objects (Left), we know that "Bonifacio's Bolo" was once in the National Museum.
The bolo (photographed in Sun Studio--Right) is believed lost or destroyed after the 1945 Battle for Manila. I hope it is still extant, and will be lured out of hiding someday, by the astronomical amounts paid for such at Leon Gallery.

Third of five lectures this History month done. “Cultural Casualties of World War II” at the Ayala Museum took 45 minutes, but the book signing took two hours. It was an afternoon well spent meeting readers, doing Q&A.

Ayala to Cubao usually takes less than 20 mins. Today it took almost an hour and this is what Cubao station looked like at 8.47 am today.
In Tokyo, train and subway operators apologize for even a minute delay and issue certificates for those who will be late for work school or appointments. Efficient public transport is a human right and citizens should demand it.
