You wouldn't normally find this instruction in a history exam, yet such eccentric stories—passed on from a friend or through posts at the Overheard at the Ateneo de Manila University 2.0 Facebook page—tell how much influence one history professor has had on how students perceive Philippine history.

EDITH TIEMPO (1919-2011) National Artist for Literature. This is how I remember her chuckling and reminiscing. She co-founded the Silliman Writers Workshop with her husband. I was accepted in my lost youth but wasnt able to attend, that is one of my many regrets.
Photo was taken by the artist Sid Hildawa who passed away in 2008. As the only one left standing I wondered about the Pinoy superstition about misfortune resulting from being photographed in threes.

This is the most wonderful birthday cake in the world! It had a small black Macbook with my FB Fan Page as well as some of my books (check out the other pix) all were edible! Inside the Ateneo-blue icing was a moist butter cake. Oc's Little Kitchen makes one of a kind cakes on any theme to order.

Pre-war Philippine cigarette labels are worth serious study because of the wonderful designs on them that express the temper of the times. These ones even had the most prominent politicians: Sergio Osmeña (top) and Manuel L. Quezon (bottom) shown in their youth before they became benign and elderly icons on our banknotes. These labels used to be part of my collection.
