Contrary to popular belief, Rizal didnt use a goose feather to write his novels. Quills were in use in the Middle Ages not so much in the 19th century. Rizal used a dip pen made of wood with a metal nib. This pen was used for El Filibusterismo, I wonder where it is today.

The Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit still preserves the pickled appendix (alcohol dried up a long time ago and wasnt replaced) removed from him in 1919 as well as a part of the towel that was left inside after the appendectomy that required a second operation. We did not have malpractice suits in those gentle times. specimen bottles are marked "my appendix" and "the mysterious gauze from my entrails."

The greatest threat to built heritage is not war or the environment. The real threat is the ignorant or inconsiderate human.
