How Do You Know if Your Tweets are Working For You?

Twitter Analytics: How do you know if your tweets are working for you?

twitter iconPlease note. These are my personal thoughts and are by no means the “right” way to use Twitter.

Almost everyone uses social media in some form or another. It’s important to remember to choose sites you’re comfortable with, and to set limits on how much time you waste spend on any of them. Also, different people use these sites in different ways, for different reasons.

I’m not a huge fan of social media, but I do have Faceb...

Sneak Peek at Deadly Engagement

With about two weeks before launch, here’s a sneak peek at Deadly Engagement.

Sneak Peek at Deadly EngagementDeadly Engagement will “drop” on February 2nd (give or take, because I’m at the mercy of the various book channels as to how long it takes for the book to go from an upload on their site to the e-store.) Meanwhile, here’s an excerpt. Enjoy!

They strolled the Promenade. “Let’s check this out.” Angie led Gordon into the alcove where the Morgan was on display. She noted the teddy bear had been replaced with a mann...

WCW – Crock Pot Mexican Meatball Stew

Really quick to put together. From freezer to pot. The turkey meatballs might be Italian seasoned, but the Mexican stewed tomatoes add the punch.

Mexican Meatball Stew

 Mexican Meatball Stew

Ingredients:
2  14 oz cans Mexican stewed tomatoes undrained.
24 oz package frozen Italian-style turkey meatballs
1 15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 14  oz can chicken broth (the recipe called for seasoned broth with roasted garlic, but that’s too ‘exotic’ for where I live. I just added some garlic to the recipe.)

When the Writing Slows Down

When the writing slows down, or comes to a halt, what do you do? Here are 4 tips from my “bag of tricks.”

When the Writing Slows DownI’m working on my next novel, the 8th in my Blackthorne, Inc. series. I have a ‘date’ with my editor, so there’s a deadline I have to meet. While it’s not threatening, I’d rather be ahead of the game, so I’m trying to stick to my daily word count goals. Often, I’ll hit speed bumps, roadblocks, or detours. Sometimes it’s because I need to research a point. Sometimes it’s because I’m not su...

Researching Deadly Engagement – It’s About Flavor

Researching Deadly Engagement – It’s About Flavor

Researching Deadly EngagementAs I mentioned on Monday, Deadly Engagement, a Mapleton Mystery Novella, is at the starting line, eagerly awaiting the bell to ring and the gates to open. Today’s post is about the research process.

It might be a chicken/egg thing as to which came first, the research or the story idea. My son leads photo safaris, and he was organizing one to the Caribbean. We’d been on Caribbean cruises before, but thought seeing the trip from a photography st...

Preparing for the Release of Deadly Engagement

Preparing for the Release of Deadly Engagement

Deadly EngagementThe publication date for Deadly Engagement is approaching, so I thought I’d give you a few sneak peeks. I decided to release it on February 2nd, which just so happens to be the day I got engaged a whole lot of years ago! (Would you like to read Deadly Engagement before release date? Keep reading!)

Today: How Deadly Engagement came to be.

Everything began with Deadly Puzzles, and the possibility of what Ed Solomon called his “Deadbeat Dad Killer.”...

Submitting? Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

Don't Sweat the Small StuffI know a lot of writers participated in the NaNoWriMo challenge (I wasn’t one of them, and here’s why), and many of them completed their 50,000 word goal. Now what? I imagine they’ve spend much of December finishing and polishing, and now they’re eager to submit.

When I started writing, there was no Kindle, no indie publishing. Everything went through agents and publishing houses, although some Digital First publishers were showing up on the scene. But even those r...
