The 2011 World Series display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., featuring items from "The Cardinals' Comeback." Look closely in the corners and you'll see four editions of The Post-Dispatch. We were proud of our coverage during October, and it's a nice nod from the Hall to include the paper with game-used bats, game-worn caps and one game-torn jersey (David Freese's No. 23 in the center).
Comic trailblazer Claremont donates archives to university
Chris Claremont, the renowned comic book writer who made The Uncanny X-Men one of the industry's strongest titles and helped launched the modern literary style in comics, is donating his archives to Columbia University. According to the above link:

I just added 38 baseball-related books to my Amazon wish list, but I wonder if you have any recommendations for must-reads. I want a more sophisticated understanding of the game. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, I know this is a busy time

I have scores of suggestions shelved and stacked all around my office here, from the history of "Casey at the Bat" (The Night Casey was Born) to fiction (The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings) to college ball (The Road to Omaha) to the big, important books (The Echoing Green).
