Wondrous Willow Debuts Six Years After Daughter’s Cancer Diagnosis During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Dayton Literary Peace Prize Nominated Author Pens First Children’s Book
Wondrous Willow debuts six years after daughter’s cancer diagnosis.
DAYTON, Ohio — “Tell me a story,” Christine’s daughter, Victoria, requested one night several years after the mother and her then 11-year-old daughter spent an intense seven months in and out of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Diagnosed with a germinoma brain tumor, Victoria underwent surgery, chemo and radiation.
One night after Christine spontaneously made up the tale of Willow, her daughter told her the story had made her cry—in a good way. Christine knew she had a winner, recording it in her writing journal so she wouldn’t forget it.
Willow is about an Old World Swallowtail butterfly born into the mountains of Colorado who marvels at her existence, but begins to doubt she has a special purpose, when a man-made fire changes her life and her mountain home forever.
“September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Wondrous Willow is not only dedicated to Victoria for what she courageously endured, but to families around the world who have, or currently are braving the illness of a loved one. I wanted Victoria to know that though life is challenging at times, everything is purpose-filled, including her,” says Horner.
17-year-old Joey McGrellis, the book’s illustrator, also came by way of Victoria when she mentioned a friend’s doodling had become so popular, he regularly received requests. Christine was pleasantly surprised to find out Joey was head of his high school’s art department, and quickly asked for a sample of his artwork.
The book includes a special message from the author and a thank you to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Wondrous Willow comes on the heels of Christine’s summer non-fiction release, Awakening Leadership: Embracing Mindfulness, Your Life’s Purpose, and the Leader You Were Born to Be. Her next project is her first novel, Crystal True, the first in a trilogy based on a screenplay she wrote in 2014 for a writing contest, publishing in 2016.
All proceeds to benefit Joey McGrellis and Victoria Horner’s college education. Yugen Press is a fiction imprint of In the Garden Publishing.

Physicist’s Black Hole Theory Closes in on What is God? Material
Dear Friends,
I am excited beyond belief that Prof. Hawking is coming
closer to validating the work I presented in my book What Is
God? Rolling Back the Veil I wrote over three years ago.
Source BBC: Hawking: Black holes store information
Information is consciousness. The infinity symbol is the 2D
symbol for the 3D looping toroidal energy field that is Creation
creating—its own power source! There is no outside intelligence
or power source. God IS Creation.
Dr. Hawking is also beginning to glimpse the divine paradox
of Creation that ultimately explains infinity.
I did send him my book.

Knowledge for Men Guest Podcast Awakening Leadership
Christine guest podcasted with Knowledge for Men founder, Andrew Ferebee, where they discussed awakening leadership and unlocking your unlimited potential.
Knowledge for Men Guest Podcast
Dear Friends,
I had a lot of fun talking with Andrew Ferebee, founder
of Knowledge for Men, about awakening the leader in
you. We recorded the podcast over Skype. It was relaxed
and open, just like he is.
From Andrew’s website: “A die-hard about personal development,
lifestyle design and entrepreneurship. I’m a lifelong student
of life constantly striving to become the best man that I can
be and to help others along the way.”
A big thank you to Andrew!

Rebuttal to Guest Column Receives Praise
Dear Friends,
The Dayton Daily News recently ran my article, “Character Key
to Unlocking Door of Discrimination.” There was an excellent
rebuttal that had several well-made points. I let it sit on my
heart for a few days, when I woke up at 3am this morning
excited and unable to sleep. What an opportunity! You’ll
see what I mean in a minute.
When we have limited guest column space, it’s difficult to
cover every point that needs to be made. Dr. Melva Newsom
was able to cover additional ground in her letter.
I wrote a reply to her, sending it off to DDN this morning. As
there is no guarantee they will choose to run it, I wanted to
make sure you can find it below.
Love,
Christine

Rebuttal to Guest Column Receives Praise from Author
In a rebuttal to my guest column, Character Key to Unlocking Door of Discrimination, Dr. Melva E. Newsom made several excellent points: “The tone of this piece was that if everyone would just be of good character there would be no more problems.” Her assessment is correct. I am suggesting that if each one of us maintains strength of character, there would be no problems. Exploitation would then cease to exist. No individual is excluded from the call to character.
Dr. Newsom also correctly stated that though you may be of high character, it doesn’t account for those who continue to hold hatred and violence in their hearts. But, it’s a starting point. Maintaining personal integrity, one becomes blameless. We can then open the door to real change as demonstrated by the sea of color that stood on the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston.
Just as the Bible speaks both literally and metaphorically, studying Dr. King’s writings reveals that he also spoke literally and metaphorically. Though he did point the finger directly at his oppressors, he also knew that to continue to hold blame in one’s heart is to poison the soul.
The guest column was and continues to be a call to every single one of us to examine our heart for anything less than brotherly love so that a great transformation of healing can occur. Yes, I am naïve in that I, too, have a dream—that equality and prosperity become a reality for every man, woman, and child on Earth. Yet, it can be achieved if we walk the journey together. Meet me on the bridge? I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
