[info:] toliver asked: What do you do (I asked this on my blog if you don't mind me repeating it here) when everything about your story falls apart? The characters, the plot, you are just so dissatisfied with all of it. Is that the middle doldrums? Or maybe you are still friends with your characters but it's just stuck, nothing seems to work. what do you do when you are stuck?

It can be the middle doldrums, but when that happens to me (and it does frequently) it's probably because I've tried to take the

[info:] supurnuva asked: What are some good online writing resources? Specifically, I think it'd be helpful to do short, daily prompts to get into the writing zone. It helps not to dive into an existing project cold. I guess I'm asking for the writing equivalent of warm up exercises or stretches? But if there are other online resources you like, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

I've never used it

From the home page, it looks like the Brenda Novak Auction for Diabetes Research raised at least $268,250. That's awesome. My three autographed books went for a total of $132, so thanks to everyone who bid!

A&E has a new documentary show on called "Obsessed" about anxiety disorders, like OCD. I've had OCD since I was a teenager, and there are a lot of people who think it's a) a hilarious joke or b) that you can't possibly have it unless you're turning a light switch off and on a hundred tim

If, like me, you were expecting to get your fix of Kenneth Brannagh as a depressed Swedish cop again tonight but your PBS station is inexplicably showing something else, the Wallander episodes are online on the show's website here. The third episode won't be up until tomorrow, though.

There's also a nice picture of David Tennant, who's taking over as the host for Masterpiece Mystery.

I think it's supposed to get up into the low 90s today. The heat and humidity isn't quite the crushing weight it will be in July and August, but it's definitely revving up for it. Even when you drive around outside of town in April and it's in the 70s and everything is starting to bloom, the countryside still has that sharp-edged look to it, like it's waiting for the real summer.

Made in San Antonio - Interview with Scott Cupp. This is a new site hosted by John Picacio, Sanford Nowlin, and Paul Vaughan and it covers science fiction, fantasy, and horror-related events, things, and people in San Antonio, Texas.

Had a really nice dinner last night with friends from out of town and in town, which has improved my outlook enough to get me through the weekend. Even though I can't bid on Cheeses of the World or go to DragonCon.

Help the Economy - Sponsor a Writer: Act now: For less than a dollar a day, you could sponsor a struggling author through the HopeWriter Initiative. Think of it. For about the cost of a used paperback at a library rummage sale, you could offer a ray of hope to one of the millions of scribes living in wretched apartments with five roommates or down in the cold, dusty basements of their parents’ houses.
