A free PDF download of the SF/F anthology The Lone Star Stories Reader is now available. It was a collection of stories from the free SF/F webzine Lone Star Stories.

Leonard Nimoy hosted a suprise screening of the new Star Trek movie in Austin, Texas, at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was supposed to be a screening of Wrath of Khan with a ten minute clip of the new movie.

More bad news: Baker & Taylor is identified as a company at high risk of default or bankruptcy. Other than Ingram, B&T serves as the primary distributor of books in the U.S. and the world.
Yet more bad news for Buffy and Angel fans: I saw this link on Facebook: Andy Hallett dies of heart failure. Andy Hallett played Lorne in Angel and was only 33 years old.

Time for another book recommendation list:
This time I'm looking specifically for recs of science fiction or fantasy with characters of color. Old books or new books are fine. As long they're SF/F (no mystery, no general or non-fiction) and the characters are POC (human or human-analog POC; no green merpeople please -- we'll do the green merpeople thematic rec list later). It's for a reference I'm helping to build.

Amazon Kindle Edition. I don't know if the publisher will make Reliquary available that way too, or if they'll be doing other ebook formats. Hopefully, they will, but I haven't heard anything.
