Monday Night Gaming: Discworld Reprised
Back on January 19th, I reviewed Discworld Ankh-Morpork, which is not only an excellent game, but set in Sir Terry Pratchett‘s Discworld. This was before his passing, and postmortem, I wanted to post it again.

Image of Terry Pratchett from GeekTrench.
This past weekend, my husband and I played this game with a friend in honor of Sir Pratchett. I never had the honor of meeting the man, but being a geek, I know what he did for the SF/F community. It’s tough when we lose a great one, and when it c...

Flashforward Friday: Unknowable Innovations
For this week’s Flashback Friday post, I’m happy to have science-fiction author, G. S. Jennsen, here again for a guest post on Unknowable Innovations.
As I understand it, Flashforward Friday is about looking at recent technological advances or discoveries and considering how they will impact the writing of science fiction. It’s a relevant question, as many people say science fiction, no matter how far into the future it looks, is always about the time in which it is written. But the aspect of...

Book Cover Throwback: Myth Directions
This week’s Book Cover Throwback: Myth Directions by Robert Asprin. (I also did a Flashback Friday on this series, which you can read here.)
What I Love about this Cover: When I first saw it, I was 12 and very much in love with fantastical creatures like unicorns and dragons. This had both.
What I Don’t Love about this Cover: The main character (Skeeve) has an odd face–not the expression but the art style on it.

Flashback Friday: Foundation
For this week’s Flashback Friday post, I’m happy to have science-fiction author, G. S. Jennsen, here for a guest post on how the Foundation Series influenced her as a writer.
When asked if there is a science fiction novel, author or series that I read when I was young which impacted my life and my journey as a writer, there has always been only one answer for me: The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov.
Foundation wasn’t the first science fiction novel I ever read, and it was probably about the f...
