B is for Bring Back Firefly!
In today’s continuation of the A-Z Challenge, I give you:
B is for Bring Back Firefly! If you’re one of those people who wants to tell me to let it go, I will proudly wrap myself in my Browncoat pride and aim to misbehave. Not even my husband gets away with saying that.
Realistically, I know that the actors are older and many have steady work on other shows. It would probably be nigh impossible for them to reprise their roles in the timeline right after the movie Serenity, but weirder things ha...
Book Cover Throwback: Get off the Unicorn
This week’s Book Cover Throwback: Get Off the Unicorn by Anne McCaffrey. Cover art by Paul Alexander.
What I Love about this Cover: The original title of this book was calledGet of the Unicorn–Get being the main character–but the publishers thought it was a typo(at least, that’s the story according to Anne McCaffrey). The book is a collection of short stories and slightly longer works. Knowing that backstory, I love the dragon on the cover that’s exploding out of an egg.
What I Don’t Love about...

A is for Amos
Today kicks off the A-Z Challenge, which I’ve decided to take part in because I’m insane like that. (Though I believe most authors are!) If you’ve not heard about this challenge, it’s similar to NaNoWriMo, but instead of writing an entire book in a month, I will be posting short bits up on this site every day for the month of April (except for Sundays, because I gotta sleep sometime).
If you’re new to this site, welcome! I’m a Seattle science fiction & fantasy author. Feel free to explore, lea...

Review by SFCrowsnest
Andy Whitaker of SFCrowsnest in the UK reviewed Class-M Exile.
Of my upcoming novella, he says “There’s a nice twist to the end of this story…It’s well worth reading.”

After Party Interview
The wonderful folks at the Seattle Comedy Group’s ComedySportz Improv group had me as the guest of their After Party Podcast late, late Saturday evening (as in 11 PM late).
We played a version of the old Match Game with two members of the audience, several members of the improv group, and me, followed by an after party interview with me.
The whole thing wrapped up around 1:30 AM and was loads of fun.
Fair warning that this podcast is not PG rated at all. There is a lot of swearing and adult cont...

Monday Night Gaming: Dominion
This week’s Monday Night Gaming: Dominion.
Publisher: Rio Grande Games
# of Players: 2-4 players
Best with: 3 players
# of Expansions: 8 (as of 2015)
I absolutely love this game. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it is my favorite deck builder tabletop game. We took a wooden craft case and converted it to storage for our Dominion game and all the expansions (something I’ll have to take pictures of later). What makes it fun is that like any good deck builder, each game is different depending up on w...

Scrivener Saturday: Multi-Book Projects
This week’s Scrivener Saturday: Multi-Book Projects & Using Binders to Contain Them.
When I finished Amaskan’s Blood, Book I of the Boahim Series, I didn’t want to start a new project for Amaskan’s War (Book II). Too much of my research, character notes, worldbuilding, etc. are in that first project to begin again with a clean slate.
I didn’t want to have to copy and paste or even import in certain parts and not others, as that would be time-consuming. I’ve got better things to do with my writi...

Flashback Friday: Hobbits, D&D, and King
This week’s Flashback Friday: Hobbits,D&D, and King.
I’m happy to have fantasy author, Erik Buchanan, here for a guest post on how The Hobbit, Dungeons & Dragons, andStephen King influenced him as a writer.
I started reading when I was two years old. And I read a lot. I did all the usual kid things–baseball, hockey, playing with my friends–but whenever I wasn’t doing that, I could be found curled up in a patch of sunlight with a book in my hands.
Now I was born well before YA was marketing tool,...

Book Cover Throwback: Childhood’s End
This week’s Book Cover Throwback: Childhood’s End by Aruthr C. Clarke.
What I Love about this Cover: There is a simplicity to everything being central on that cover, yet a complexity in what is on the cover. This is one of my favorite books as far as classic sci-fi goes.
What I Don’t Love about this Cover: I’m not a fan of the off-white Ecru looking background. I’d rather it was a black background.
