Words of Comfort: Thirsty?

It was love that drove Hagar to cry out to God for the child. How can love not compel us to lift up our voices and weep, given the impending deaths of multitudes around us? God has opened our eyes to see the wells of salvation in Christ, so we must lead sinners by the hand to Him who cried, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). Words of Comfort: Real fear.

There is no worse state for a nation or the Church to be in than to lose the fear of God. Someone once said, “I fear God, and next to God I chiefly fear him who fears Him not.” Those who do not fear God will lie to you, steal from you, and even kill you if they think they can get away with it. It is the fear of the Lord that causes men to depart from evil. Jesus said, “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body i...

Words of Comfort: A rare message.

This is the message that we must preach: that all humanity flee from the wrath to come, that they are to be saved from this wicked and adulterous generation through repentance and faith in Jesus alone. Sadly, these words are rarely heard from the lips of popular preachers. Every time we enter a pulpit or open our mouths to preach in public, we should be mindful that there are more than likely unsaved people listening to our words. Their blood will be on our hands if we fail to warn them (see...

Words of Comfort: Remember the thief.

It can be a difficult situation if someone you are witnessing to asks about the fate of a loved one who died and was not a Christian. Simply say, “Only God knows the eternal destiny of the person, and the Scriptures assure us that He will do what is right. So we can take consolation from that.” Some may be tempted to say that the loved one went to hell, but the truth is that we don’t know what happened minutes before their death. Remember the thief on the cross.

Words of Comfort: Decision vs Repentance

Keep planting and don’t be tempted to revert to using the methods of modern evangelism to get “decisions for Christ.” That may make you rejoice because you think you are seeing fruit, but keep in mind that while we may rejoice over “decisions,” Heaven reserves its rejoicing for sinners who repent (see Luke 15:7), and repentance is God-given (see 2 Tim. 2:24–26). Sow in tears, and you will reap in joy—in God’s time.   From, The Evidence Bible

Words of Comfort: Germination.

There may be times when you do not see any fruit for your evangelistic labors. You are planting seed in the hearts of sinners but it seems that no one is being born again. If that is the case, consider this verse: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58).

Words of Comfort: "What's wrong with Catholics?"

“What's wrong with Catholics?” Carlo Benniti
We love them. Jesus said that everyone (Catholic or Protestant) needs to be born again to enter Heaven (see John 3). Many Catholics don't know that--a tragedy beyond words.

Words of Comfort: Mark Twain hated God.

"The best cure for Christianity is reading the Bible. ~ Mark Twain.”  Cindy Martin
Mark Twain wasn't as atheist, but he hated Christianity and the God of the Bible because he was sexually immoral. He instead made up his own god to suit himself. Sexual sin almost always ends up in idolatry. Some embrace the foolishness of atheism to try and rid themselves of moral responsibility, but not Mark Twain. The man was brilliant and extremely witty.

Words of Comfort: Feminists and the Bible.

Feminists bristle at the Bible’s statement that God made man in His image. This verse doesn’t mean that God is a man, or that He looks like man (see John 4:24). It means that when God made man and woman, He endowed them with a mind, emotions, and will. Humans are rational, moral beings with an inherent God-consciousness. However, in revealing Himself to mankind, God describes Himself in the male gender using terms such as Father, Son, Bridegroom, etc. Those who consider God to be fe...
