Daughter of the Forest wins Prix Imaginales

Daughter of the Forest has won a major French fantasy award, Le Prix Imaginales, in the 'novel in translation' category. The French edition came out in 2009, published by L'Atalante and translated by Helene Bury. More information on the website:

The Book of Faery Magic

Au Contraire in Wellington

New Zealand readers and anyone else going to the Au Contraire speculative fiction convention in Wellington in August - a draft program is on the website. I am presenting a writing workshop on Friday August 27, from 10-12. The topic is Finding Your Voice. You'll need to sign up in advance for that. I am also very likely to be on the panel Myth and Fairytales in Fantasy, Sunday Aug 29 at 10, since I suggested the topic.

Voting in this round goes until March 31. You must be registered on the BSC Reviews site to vote. Once registered, log in and click 'View Active Topics.'  Go to 'Rosemary and Rue vs Heart's Blood.' Name your choice and, for a bonus point, give a good reason why you chose it.

DABWAHA Tournament

Do you like a good love story? Want to be in the running for some great prizes? Check out this link to the 2010 DABWAHA Tournament, in which Heart's Blood is one of the books on the list of 64.

The voting process is based on a basketball tournament. Basically the list gets cut down week by week until there is only one book left. You vote week by week to keep your favourites in the running.
