Purging to a Good Cause
I was tired of tripping on them to get to the promo items in the office closet, so I donated 82 research books today to the Veteran store and my 9 + bookshelves are still full, lol. Really hope I don’t end up needing one of those. Also a bunch of clothes, my office chair that’s a great chair if you’re not a writer sitting on it all day, and like 26 old board games we never play anymore, computer programs, Rx eyeglasses, etc etc. Whew! Now I have room on my closet floor for more books!
Tip: Call your local Goodwill, DAV, various veteran thrift stores and see if they do donation pick ups in your area. It’s better than trashing things you don’t need anymore that some else could use.

It is truly an amazing time to be an author. Hard, but amazing.
What works for me as an author might not work for everyone else. That’s why pub options are great. I love having control over my books. I’ve had really good luck as an author with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and affiliated programs like Audiobook Creation Exchange: ACX.com and CreateSpace. As well as other vendors (you know the ones, I won’t list them all here)
Indie publishing lets me feed my inner control freak. LOL Which is one of the reasons I love it.
I’ve done big NY publishers. I’ve done small press. I’ve done Indie/self pubbing. I’ve seen all sides of the publishing industry. I guess they’re calling us Hybrid Authors now.
I have also enjoyed working with the publishers I have. Sometimes, it’s nice to have that extra help. But I’ve also turned down contracts in favor of other options. However, the route I decide will be what’s best for me at the time I’m making the decision. Right now, Indie is making sense for majority of my books.
To me, the main thing is that readers can get the books they want in the format they want. I find many readers don’t care how that happens.

The Dragon’s Queen has officially zoomed past it’s original word count allotment on my schedule. Will be working extra hard to fit this surprise expansion in, but no complaints–rather have a book be what it needs to be.
Normally, I’m pretty good at estimating stories out. This one surprised me.

DRAGON LORDS AUDIO UPDATE
Narrators – Those of you contacting me wanting to read Dragon Lords series for the audio books–THANK YOU for your interest. I will be holding the auditions through Audiobook Creation Exchange: ACX.com . Look for them to open up THIS SUMMER 2014!! The plan is to host auditions, then narrow them down by committee of me and a few others, then have the readers vote. From there the audio books will release on a steady schedule.
FUTURISTICS UPDATE
There is so much planned on the schedule. Watch for announcements for not only brand new books, but brand new series installments in the futuristic worlds. I have a lot planned.

20th Dragon Lord Universe book!
OMG readers, I just realized, if you count the 4 shorts (Galaxy Playmates) Dragon Lords 8 (Feb 2014) will be 20th Futuristic in the Dragon Lords universe. How awesome is that!
