Inspiration in desolation...
It's interesting to me that I find inspiration in old ruined buildings, abandoned towns, and isolated settings. Check out these links and tell me if I'm crazy or if you hear the whispers of the people who used to live there.

Writer's Block
Sometimes if I'm stuck with something I'm working on, I'll come up with three items and just write about those random items.
My last set of three:
Boston
Umbrella
Sean
It sometimes not only gets you going, but gives you the start of a story you didn't know was ready to be told.

Early Frost
Well with the chill settling in Cincinnati, it got me thinking about the impending winter, which in turn got me thinking about story ideas.
Always intrigued by the way the snow seems to insulate sound and keeps it from coming to us. It's like a perfect sound proofing blanket to hide whatever sounds might be there...screams...the rending of flesh...
Something about being outside with a thick cover of snow at night is chilling to me. The idea of something dark moving from a distance, making its way toward me is a little unsettling.
When I find foliage that peeks through the snow, flowers, berries something colorful it makes me wonder what is underneath making it bloom...something dark and sweet...something fetid and foul...
Well, now that the idea factory is churning I'm going to crack open the laptop and get to clickety clacking...

Once, Twice, Thrice
Once, Twice, Thrice; A Trio of Tales is online and available for purchase through Amazon.
It has three novella length tales. The Shaker, The Omega and The Unheard Cry.
In The Shaker, Everett has stumbled upon a most unusual item at an antiquities store. He discovers something incredible about himself and what he ultimately wants
The Omega is the last outpost in the solar system. A young boy's penchant for ancient folklore and myths proves invaluable against a deep space discovery.
The Unheard Cry chronicles a struggling author with writer's block and how he handles it. Taking a chance on a change in scenery, he realizes far too late that it was a mistake.

Is it really wrong?
So is it wrong if a tough cop likes potato salad? I had an editor once tell me that was a terrible detail to use to describe a cop...what do u think?
