1955 International Harvester 3/4 ton; Erskine Truck
From Alex Emond, in southern Saskatchewan:
"Here is an Erskine truck. I'd never heard of the make but it was built by Studebaker and there were mostly cars in their line. I think that this truck must be pretty rare. I give really high style points.
"And a bonus shot of what, I believe, is an International Harvester pickup . I took this picture at a slow roll because their dog was getting chuffed at my dogs and I never did stop. I'll go back sometime and take some more pictures, because this is my idea of all things truck. You simply can't improve it."-AE

1932 Ford Woodie, redux
The Struggly Buggy has been in TW's family since new. His grandfather used to drive it from Lawrenceville NJ to Blue Hill ME every summer. Lives in Blue Hill now. Came across another woodie of the same era down in Freeport last year. Maybe a slightly earlier model...
I'm fascinated by Woodies of all eras---if you google autoliterate and woodie you'll see we've posted a bunch over the years...never have owned one, but was lucky enough to see Nick Alexander's amazing collection in Los Angeles before it was sold off.
More Struggly Buggy....

Deer Isle Bridge, Paul Sullivan, and the ferry across Eggemoggin Reach
The Deer Isle Bridge across Eggemoggin Reach turned 75 this year. Paul Sullivan is composing music for a show to be performed at Stonington Opera House in August.
Above, another of the last car ferries across the Reach in 1939. Below, BB herself at the wheel heading to D.I. for a "Christmas" photo shoot.

Jane Hilberry poem "The Plymouth Valiant"
The Plymouth Valiant
Rain made the windshield wipers work hard to keep up as someone shouted, or cried. All fights happened in the car. In those days when the front seat was one long benchone of us girls would climb over, wiggle intothe middle, and watch the wet dark hit the windshield. Those days are vanishing, rearview mirror, rainon the road, water in the wheel wells. We will never be, again, the family in the car.It is already gone, my mother passing, a door, even our memories of it vanish. We sangSwingin’ Along the Open Road andDona Nobis Pacem, in a round. One car,a Plymouth Valiant, beyond rust now, in a junkyard, the seats long gone, rain-soaked sponge and torn vinyl.
