Scout (Cape Dory 25) gets wet in Sedgwick Maine

After a week of prep, Scout was launched at the Sedgwick Town Landing on the Benjamin River yesterday. Bill Grant in charge. I have been tuning rigging today, and various other chores. With any luck, we'll sail up Egeemoggin Reach to Center Harbor, and our mooring, tomorrow.

1952 Chevrolet truck from Classic trucks

Found it on Classic Trucks Magazine facebook page. Mostly low riders there. But I couldn't resist this one. Except them whitewalls. First time I went to Texas, from Alberta, it was a long slow drive in a 1952 Chevrolet 3/4 ton grainer. Best truck. Ever. I think the photo is Deer Lodge, Montana.

The West Texas Ford F-250 Man: Roy's Shop in Marfa

from Don Culbertson, in Marfa Texas:"Roy, known as Popo to the kids in town, has been tuning up cars and trucks for 5 decades. Originally from Ft Davis, he set up shop here in Marfa. Roy drives  a 1975 F-250. He keeps my 1978 F250 on the road. Roy reluctantly rebuilt my allis chalmers 50/50 tractor. It's not a Ford, but he fixed it. Here's a sample of what's parked on his lot. Roy's is the place to pump up the tires, have a cold beer and bask in the presence of the old timers... "The black truck is for sale."--DGC

Cape Dory 25

Scout getting ready to go in. Bottom paint, some topside, a coat of varnish. Motor tuned up. Need a patch on the keel and we're ready to go in, maybe Friday.

Rat Rod, Swift Current Saskatchewan

 from Alex Emond:
"For sale in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Ride around, make people grin, and confuse the constabulary. A tall driver would have to be flexible to get in and out of this thing."-AE

Frank Gehry Flips

They are building a 70-foot Frank Gehry-designed sloop at the Brookin Boatyard. (Gehry designed the interior. See the windows, below.) Hulls that size are always built upside down, and at a certain point in the process they are flipped. Flipping a big boat is always a social event here in Brooklin, and on Friday it seemed half the town was down at the boatyard to watch. Slow motion fun. Launch date is a year from now.
