Hello Priya Prithviraj, I'm sorry it has taken so long to answer these questions. I missed your post somehow!

I'm glad you enjoyed 'Finding Aubrey', that story is close to my heart.

In terms of how much or how little a project needs editing can vary. Sometimes a tale will simply 'work', while other times, careful backtracking is necessary.

I find writing short stories trickier than crafting novels. The compressed nature of a short does not allow for dallying. Keeping unnecessary extras out of a short really helps one stay focused.

Short and sweet, as they say!(less)

“You know, Dorothy, you can’t let people bring you down so easily or you’ll have your nose in the dirt for the rest of your life. From what I make of it, for every person with a good thought, there are about fifty who’d try to spoil it. We have to guard our good ideas, our happy thoughts, and fight for them. Because if we let those others snuff them out, well, we didn’t after all deserve them.”
J.M. Lavallee, The Wishing Stone and Other Myths Learned on Gull Cliff Island

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

“You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you odd.”
Flannery O'Connor, Flannery O'Connor: Collected Works

“The latter's boast that he had never read a book for pleasure in his life did not predispose me in his favour.”
Anthony Powell, A Question of Upbringing

“Imagination is the golden-eyed monster that never sleeps. It must be fed; it cannot be ignored.”
