A.S Chung was born in 1974 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Chinese by race, she was educated in the British system and spoke predominantly English at home with a colourful mix of Cantonese colloquialism. She had a wonderful childhood and showed early signs of being a passionate reader with hours poured into books and learning the art of skipping chores and meals, just to finish that extra chapter! Her earliest literary influence was Enid Blyton, the one author that could completely immerse her into a wondrous world of books. Her current bookshelves are filled with Enid Blyton classics, in hope that one day; her daughter would enjoy them as much as she did.

Her tastes in books as she became a young adult turned to Fantasy and this genre would keep her occupied for the next two decades. David Eddings became her first love and the start of a deep addiction that at times led to tears when the series would end!

Marriage and parenthood followed which unfortunately ended in a sad divorce but start of yet another literary journey. She turned to Paulo Coelho’s spiritual words to get her through this difficult phase in her life and in many ways allowed the slow minutes become beautiful days. This turning of events however, also ignited the need to write and hence the commencement of a very new chapter in her life.

The most important thing in her life is her young daughter and essentially everything that concerns her. One of the many endearing qualities of her daughter is her love for food; even from a very young age. She has an incredibly adult palate and A.S Chung was very passionate about her eating well, healthily and engaging her in the kitchen at all times. When co-author F.A Scifo created the Supreme Kitchen Team and asked A.S Chung to join the project, she jumped on board immediately. What a wonderful way to engage young children to discovery home-style cooking.

Amidst this project, divorce ensued and became a very tumultuous time. A.S Chung was most concerned about her young daughter and wanted to shelter her from the unavoidable difficulties. At the time, she was too young to really understand the ramifications of divorce but old enough to know something was amiss. A.S Chung was then inspired to create Pigeonhole Books, which is a gentle resource to deal with life challenges. These picture books are designed for young children who come from divorce, same-sex, blended and multicultural families.

She certainly hopes readers will find joy and lots of fun in the Supreme Kitchen Team series of books and that Pigeonhole Books will help families see the beauty in otherwise challenging situations.
