Educators Relaunch
Greetings friends!
My team and I have spent the past few months redesigning the Educators section of our website. It now contains a host of Eragon-themed projects and materials that teachers, librarians, and parents can use to help spark a love of reading and writing in children. These are exactly the sorts of activities that got me interested in books in the first place, and I’m excited to share them with you now.
The main part of the Educators’ section is the new Teacher’s Guide, which is packed with activities to get kids excited about reading, writing, research, math, and expanding their critical thinking skills through the world and characters of Eragon. Students can discover how soap is made, write a letter from a dwarf child’s point of view, help Angela the herbalist calculate her recipes, learn dwarven runes, design a menu to celebrate the werecat Solembum’s birthday, and so much more!
But that’s not all! I’ve also uploaded a series of short videos where I speak directly to students and answer their questions about writing, fantasy, and the Inheritance Cycle. We’ve included articles with advice for young readers and writers, tips for homeschooling parents, and a whole bunch of multimedia content: a crossword puzzle, word search, and high-quality printable images of the different book covers (for posters, art projects, and social media headers).
As a child, I was lucky to have been surrounded by people who encouraged me to do projects similar to those on our site. I made booklets about topics I was interested in. I wrote letters to characters and fiddled around with invented languages. And it made a huge difference; those projects fed my imagination in ways that more traditional lessons never did. If even one young person can be similarly inspired by the material here, I’ll be delighted.
So! Come visit the new website section and let me know what you think on Twitter and Facebook!
Wishing you a great summer!
Christopher Paolini
p.s. Yes, I’m still hard at work rewriting my sci-fi book. I’ll send you an update soon.

Latest Update on the Sci-fi Project!
Hi guys!
Immanuela here, Christopher's assistant. He asked me to post the latest update on his science fiction project, #TSiaSoS. So here goes!
Because Goodreads doesn't appear to allow embedded videos, the first thing you'll want to do is check out Christopher's video here.
We are all anxiously awaiting news of a publishing date and a link to pre-order, but we're not quite there yet.
Christopher is in the middle of working through the story to refine and improve the plot, develop the characters further, and generally make the book the best it can be. Revision can be the hardest part of writing a novel—after a year or more crafting each paragraph with care, finally typing “The End,” and printing out the manuscript, it’s done, right?! Nope. Now it's time to review, reflect, and revise.
So when do we get the book? Well, once Christopher has finished the first go-through, trusted advisors will read it and offer their thoughts, and then the book will be sold to a publisher—who will also propose changes. Between editing, designing, printing, and marketing, the earliest #TSiaSoS could be available for purchase is next year.
Rest assured, you won't be bored during the wait! We'll have awesome behind-the-scenes content, updates on publishing dates, and themed exclusives for fans on Paolini.net throughout this process. And check out the video here where Christopher details some of the brainstorming necessary to write a good science fiction book.
As always, thank you for your support and stay in touch!
Cheers,
Immanuela

2015 and Looking Ahead
Kvetha Fricaya! Greetings Friends!
As 2015 draws to a close, I again want to thank all of you for reading the Inheritance Cycle and for supporting our content on paolini.net. None of this would be possible without you!
This has been a big year for me. I don’t talk too much about my private life, mainly because it’s pretty boring day-to-day. I sit at my desk, press various keys, dream of far-off peoples and places, and every now and then go lift heavy things. That said, 2015 was a year of changes for me, both personally and professionally, and I feel as if they’ve made me a better person and, hopefully, a better writer.
As many of you know, I’ve been working on a sci-fi novel for quite some time now. If all goes well, the first draft will be finished in the near future. Fingers crossed! As with all my books, it’s ended up somewhat longer than expected—hey, what’s a few hundred pages here and there?—but so far the results are pleasing. I can’t wait for people to read it!
Looking forward, 2016 is going to be an exciting year. I have lots of new projects lined up, and my team and I will continue to provide a steady stream of new content for paolini.net (including more prints of Inheritance art, if folks are interested).
Hopefully 2015 has been a good year for you as well. Spend some time with friends and family, raise a mug in celebration, and in the immortal words of Bill & Ted: “Be excellent to each other!”
Atra esterní ono thelduin,
Christopher Paolini

September Update
Hey guys!
Just a quick update.
Writing the new science fiction novel has been going well, and I hope to finish the first draft within the next two months. Whoop, whoop!
My website, Paolini.net, just had its one year anniversary. To celebrate, my team is highlighting some of the best articles and videos (click here to check it out). But we still needed something special to mark the occasion, so for the first time we’re offering two limited edition art prints of my drawings of Brom and Aren! See them on my Etsy store.
That's all for now, folks. As always, thank you for your continued support!
May your swords stay sharp,
Christopher

What happens in Alagaësia after Eragon and Saphira leave?
Hi guys,
I've just released Jeod's Letter—originally published in the deluxe edition of Inheritance —on my website, Paolini.net. This description of life in Alagaësia nearly a year after the departure of Eragon and Saphira gives you a peek into the future of your favorite characters. Check it out! If you missed previous deleted and deluxe scenes, you can access all of them here.
Work on my new scifi novel continues apace. As you can see below, it's not a short book! (Don't worry, when I’m ready, I will return to Alagaësia).
In the meantime, for those of you who have submitted questions about the Inheritance Cycle and my current project, I've answered some in my Q&A series. (If you'd like to ask me something, post your query on Twitter and I'll do my best to respond.)
Over the years, I’ve sketched many of the characters and locations in Alagaësia. If you’d like to see how I imagined a place or character, visit my art desk series page and art galleries.
I've also interviewed a series of esteemed authors and artists for my website. Recent guests include Tony Diterlizzi, John Stephens, and Bradley Trevor Greive. These conversations, which you can view here, contain lots of fascinating tidbits, along with practical information for writers.
If you happen to be in Montana this month, drop by my reading of Dr Seuss's new book, What Pet Should I Get? at Barnes and Noble in Bozeman. I'll be happy to sign your books!
Well, that's all for now. As always...
May your swords stay sharp!
Christopher
p.s. Do you like crosswords and word searches? My team put together a couple of challenging Inheritance Cycle themed puzzles.

April 2015: the Sci-fi Book, music, Q&As, and More!
Hi folks!
It's been a while since I've updated this blog, so I thought it was high time to catch you up on the latest.
First, the most important news: I've been hard at work on my new science fiction novel and hope to finish the first draft fairly soon.
Last month, I took a break from writing to visit Murray, Utah to attend Brandon Mull's launch party for his latest Five Kingdoms novel, Crystal Keepers. Other guest authors included Brandon Sanderson, Richard Paul Evans, and Chad Morris. Then it was off to Orem, UT for a book signing alongside Rachel Hartman and Arwen Elys Dayton. Great fun all around. (If you're ever curious about future events, keep an eye on my website, Paolini.net, and related social media for the most up-to-date news.)
I also just released a deleted scene from Brisingr that, previously, only appeared in the Deluxe Edition. It was cut from the story to quicken the pace. Hope you enjoy it!
More than ten years after the release of Eragon, it's impressive and exciting how many of you continue to share your love of the series. So, during the month of February, my family and I decided to host a celebration for fans on Paolini.net. We hosted giveaways, interviewed first-time author Karen Bao, published your stories on how the Inheritance Cycle affected your lives, and solicited pictures and videos from readers around the world. Cool stuff!
Music has always played a huge role in setting the mood while I craft a scene. The month of March on Paolini.net was dedicated to all things music and writing. We started things off with an exclusive interview with Rachel Hartman, author of Seraphina. In addition, Eleanor Glewwe guest blogged about nearly becoming a musician and the effect it had on her novel, Sparkers. Then Karen Bao, Stefan Bachmann, Brandon Sanderson, Rachel, Eleanor, and I all contributed book playlists. Fans also submitted song collections that remind them of Alagaësia or that they listen to while working on their own stories. If you need inspiration for your latest project, it's definitely worth your time to check it out.
Many of you are curious about the new science fiction novel and what will be in Book Five. I held a live Twitter Q&A, answering over 130 fan questions, a few weeks ago. The complete transcript on my website. If that's not enough, you can also peruse the archive of other recent Q&A sessions.
Finally, I launched this month with an interview with Arwen Elys Dayton. Aspiring authors will find some great tips in the video; we talk about editing and writing techniques, her new book, Seeker, and its film adaptation.
Well, that's it for now. As always, thank you for your support and I hope to see you at a signing some time soon!
