let’s go, summer reading!!

Summer isn’t technically here for another three weeks, but if I have to live with these temperatures, I’m counting the start of June. 😉 And with summer (fortunately) comes summer reading!! Here’s my list of four books I hope to read in the next few months… Better than the Movies by Lynn Painter (it looks...Continue reading »

my bookshelf tour (2024 edition)

It’s chaotic and lower quality than I wanted (I ran into tech issues), but it’s here–my bookshelf tour! I kept the videos short and sweet, so here’s a part two as well. 😉 Feel free to comment here or on my channel! (And good luck if you find my old videos, lol) 😉

i unpacked *most* of our books

With the help of a new little bookshelf for J’s collection of old books, I unpacked and organized our books with more brought in from the storage closet. This time instead of separating age groups, I alphabetized all the fiction, then grouped miscellaneous and nonfiction in its own section. I’m super happy with how it...Continue reading »

Kate’s writing and Kiki’s Delivery Service

“Flying is my only skill.” These words stood out to me when I watched Kiki’s Delivery Service for the first time last night. I feel this way about my writing sometimes. Sure I have other jobs and hobbies and “jobbies” I’m good at, but the main skill and the one I feel most called to...Continue reading »

my favorite fiction with Jewish characters

It’s frustrating to look for Jewish fiction. The options are either Old Testament retellings, Holocaust stories often centering non-Jews instead, or cynical contemporary stories with themes I don’t prefer. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed many WWII books, but until recently it’s felt like Jewish fiction has been all about struggle, struggle, struggle. In honor...Continue reading »

last, now, next reads

Yesterday, I finished reading Cog by Greg Van Eekhout, one of the books I featured in my book haul. It was really cute, clever, and important, and I’m glad I read it. ❤ (Also it takes place in Arizona at least partially and there’s a character with a Jewish last name. *heart eyes* ) I’m...Continue reading »

my recent book haul <3

Our used bookstore had a Star Wars Day deal going last weekend, so I snagged a few books. 😉 I jokingly asked J to pose with my stack and he obliged, so that’s the picture you’re getting. XD First up we have Uglies by Scott Westerfield, a book I’ve been looking to buy for forrrreeeeever....Continue reading »

off the top of your head book tag

I stole this tag from JessetheReader’s YouTube channel (you can view his video here) because it looked like so much fun. 😉 The goal of this tag is to share the first answer that pops into your mind, so this will be rather rapid-fire. 😉 What was your favorite picture book as a child? Goodnight...Continue reading »
