Simple Things is so excited that i’m offering up one printed copy of Skydreamer. Here’s a little bit about it..
Excerpt:
“We won’t need another Travel Sphere,” he says. “I know a short cut. Everyone on board.” He reaches for Adania and she takes his hand, clutching her handkerchief tight to her chest with the other. Seriosu blue eyes watch his every move. “Need help getting in?”
Draven doesn’t wait for an answer. He picks her up and tosses her high in the air before catching her and placing her in the front seat. Her infectious giggle rings out like bells. He surprises me by spinning me around before sliding me down his hard body. His kiss brushes my lips just as my feet touch the ground, then I’m in the air again and plopped down next to Adania with a resounding whoosh.
“Now,” he says, grinning, “this is the most important thing to remember.” He reaches over my shoulder to ruffle Adania’s hair. “Don’t fall out.”
Draven disappears toward the back. For a few moments, all is quiet. Then, the wagon lurches forward and my stomach drops to the souls of my feet.
“The ground is moving!” Adania screams. “We’re in the air!”
Above us is the smooth underbelly of a huge black dragon and all I can do is stare in awe. When Adania squeals to be set free, I realize that Isla is clutching her arm so tight, the delicate flesh is turning red. “Isla, ease up on your grip, Adania isn’t going anywhere.”
In truth, we’re packed so tightly into the narrow front seat, there is little fear of any of us moving so much as an inch. I lean over the side to absorb the never-ending view.
My gaze follows the long, winding river stretching across the mass of greenness, which is the Plains of Ovlur beneath us. While over our heads, directly above us, is my husband.
Flying.
I’m married to someone who can change his form with a single thought and can fly.

When worlds COLLIDE
Today, I have a special guest.
She’s someone I admire. She’s strong, fearless, caring and above all, she is the author of COLLIDE. One of the most exciting books i’ve read in a LONG time.
With every guest to this blog, I want something different. A little bit of the “YOU” inside the powerful writing machine! So when I asked for a Playlist, Melissa didn’t disappoint. And since I am re-reading (yes, it’s that good) Collide, I was doubly excited. Now I can match songs to scenes, I can just that little bit of something to the story i’m reading about.
Don’t forget to read scroll down a little further and read all about Collide By Melissa J. Cripin.
Melissa J. Crispin’s playlist for Collide
• Just So You Know by Jesse McCartney
• I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz
• Ever Dream by Nightwish
• Fight Song by Rachel Platten
• Starts with Goodbye by Carrie Underwood
• Mad World by Michael Andrews (feat. Gary Jules)
• Your Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
• Bring Me to Life by Evanescence
• It Will Rain by Bruno Mars
• Lover Lay Down by Dave Matthews Band
• Let Her Go by Passenger
• This by Ed Sheeran
• Everlong by the Foo Fighters
• My Immortal by Evanescence
It’s an eclectic mix of genres, but I listen to all different music so that’s how it turned out. I also had Landslide by Fleetwood Mac in there, but cut it at the last minute because it seemed too depressing.
Kayla has a plan. She’s moving to the city after graduation and Luke’s coming with her. He’ll eventually become a doctor, she’ll be a ballerina—and they’ll live happily ever after. That is, until dark forces, led by a sister she never knew existed, start hunting her down for a power she never knew she had.
When Kayla starts working with a boy named Alec to learn how to defend herself and to stop the evil from eliminating the worlds, she finds herself falling for him. Hard. Torn between two loves and struggling to do what’s right for Earth and Afterlife, Kayla must decide if she’s fighting to keep her life together, or letting it go to save everyone else’s.

Did you have a particular scene that inspired you to write this book
I’m a big fan of westerns. While I have a nice collection of older ones, two that I drew
inspiration from were Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven and 1993’s Tombstone. Val Kilmer just
kills it as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. One strong theme was explored in these movies—
redemption of some sort. William Munny in Unforgiven is portrayed as a man with a vicious past of criminal activities. “Killer of women and children” being one of them. I suspect, like most legends, it’s unfounded in any amount of truth. However, by reputation alone a person can do great things. Whether by good or bad deeds, something legendary can make a person pause. By using what whispered rumors had given him, he avenged not only the woman he’d been paid to help but his friend Ned who was tortured and killed in the process.
While he got paid, he took the job because what it entailed—justice for a woman who was
disfigured by a man. In Tombstone, three men with the Cowboys—McMasters, Texas Jack,
and Jack Johnston—join forces with Wyatt Earp after their gang targets women. While based
in history, this showed that morals did exist. Fun fact: an actor named Wyatt Earp is in the
movie and he’s related to the legend.
When I first wrote this story, I didn’t have any type of confrontation with guns except for
one particular scene. The Wild West, in fact, didn’t have that many shoot outs. In an age
where internet and phones didn’t exist, you could make yourself into some puffed up
gunslinger on swagger alone. Not to say that shooting didn’t happen but it had more to do
with protecting than to gain a reputation. However, in rewrites and such, I added a few
areas.
One thing you had to be in the west was strong to endure the environment, especially when railroads hadn’t laid any tracks down. Everything came by stagecoach or supply wagons and you hoped the guards on them did their job. I wanted Ellie, the female main character, to overcome many obstacles. Each time I sat down with this manuscript was an opportunity to let her shine through adversity. A strong female lead was important to me. Westerns are usually about men and rarely show that. Though I’ve seen a few good female characters, they’re always in the background. All in all, I had a blast writing this one and hope to write more historical westerns in the future

Can their attraction defeat prejudice? Which will rule—duty or desire?

It wasn’t my Star Wars
It wasn’t my Star Wars.
I didn’t feel the emotions of the rest of the crowd.
Halfway through, I found myself thinking of a book I’m writing.
I was bored.
I know, I know. You’re going to tell me about a small robot with half the charm of R2D2, and you’re going to tell me how the lead character was a girl. That interracial leads don’t happen (I saw Lethal Weapon people!)
And I just have to say. I left the theatre with no feeling for that movie at all.
In contrast, I walked into a theatre when I was a child. I read every word on the screen as it scrolled down. I remember thinking that it was a brilliant eye-catching way to capture my attention. Deep thoughts for a kid who still played with Barbie dolls.
I walked out of that theatre with an entirely new concept of storytelling. I believed the characters. Luke wasn’t just a whiny boy; he was a kid who looked sad while everyone else talked at a table because he missed his aunt and uncle. He was a kid who was scared and didn’t want to leave home. He did it anyway, not for a princess but for an old man who was a friend.
I walked out of that theatre knowing I’d watched the greatest movie ever. (and I had, I was only eleven.)
So when I went to see, well that movie.
I was excited.
I was happy.
It was my star wars.
When I walked out of that theatre, sadness tugged at my heart.
It wasn’t wasn’t my Star Wars.
When a director or a writer places a mark on a movie. His thoughts do more than go into the page, more than direct the movie, they direct the theme of the movie.
I miss the young George Lucas and despite the flaws of the last three Star Wars movies, I will always be grateful for the first three. For his thought process, his youthful excitement and his love of the unknown went into it.
So thank you, George Lucas, thank you so much for my Star Wars.

Trouble in Paradise
TROUBLE IN PARADISE & LONDON SAINT JAMES!

Trouble in Paradise
A Paradise Ranch Novel
Contemporary Romance, Erotic, Western
by London Saint James
Publisher: Roane Publishing
Release Date: February 15, 2016
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go back to Dallas.
Since coming home Sutton has inherited herself a heap of headaches, two bossy men who want her for their own, threatening notes, and a whole lot of trouble in Paradise.
Having Doc McNab as competition, being ten years Sutton’s senior, and under her employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning the sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him, but that wasn’t going to stop the man from trying.
With the exception of the pretty as a picture, Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab’s childhood sucked. He’d been jerked up more so than raised by his ex-convict of a father, eventually leaving the girl and West Texas behind. Now, he’s all grown and back in Sutton’s life, willing to do whatever it takes to stay there.

Excerpt:
After propping up the hood, Sutton stood on her tip toes, waved a hand about in an effort to keep the smoke from her face, and glanced at the guts of the truck—as if she would know what she was looking for. She supposed the doing made her feel as if she were taking proactive measures about the situation, until the coughing started. Perhaps sticking her head beneath the hood hadn’t been the best idea.
Covering her nose with one hand, still swiping the foul air with the other, she took a step back. The breeze kicked up and blew another puff of nasty at her. She coughed yet again and stomped a booted foot on the pavement, irritated.
* * * *
Kale’s morning had royally sucked. He hated when he had to put down an animal, and as a result, he’d pretty much been in a mood when Flint called him about Maeflower. He sure hoped he didn’t have to put two horses down in the same day, a fact he’d been grumbling about under his breath when he jumped in his truck. But after leaving his office and driving down Main Street, he saw something with the potential to vastly improve his afternoon.
The corner’s of Kale’s mouth turned up into a smile as he pulled his F-150 dual cab into the parking lot of Dunning’s, watching Sutton Callaway doing the hippy, hippy, shake in tight daisy dukes, a faded turquoise T-shirt, and turquoise cowgirl boots.
God bless Texas.
What people are saying about Trouble in Paradise:
“Holy hell in a hand basket! Whoo! What a twisting turning, one hell of a cliff hanger, roller coaster ride that was. Oh, I also forgot the not one, but two hot Alpha males, hot kinky sex, and spankings. This not one of those books you want to miss. It’s literally got it all!” – Goodreads 5* Review
“5 sexy stars!! Whoo I may need to be hosed down after reading this sexy, sexy book!!” – Goodreads Review

Diets and other things
A friend asked me how my diet was going, and I told her the truth.
I crashed and burned Sunday night and ate everything in the house.
Her sad silence did not bother me, neither did the sudden, “oh no. We’ll get you back on track.”
And to her getting to your goal weight is the successful rough. To me? Changing a lifetime of bad habits is the goal. I don’t need to get back back on track. Why? Because I’m older now, a wee bit wiser. I know myself better than I did a few years ago. I’m not going to pretend that I’m not an emotional eater. I’m not going to pretend that I got this way by eating clean every day of my life. I didn’t. And i’m not going to pretend that I have ruined my diet by a one day slip.
The fact is. I’m human. I cry, I make mistakes, I eat brownies after calls from my Mother-in-law.
I also know that eating badly for one night isn’t the end of my diet. It’s just going to take me longer to get to my goal. That of being a healthy eater.
It takes a while for a person to change bad habits but beating yourself up over slips in life is pointless.
Change, grow, be yourself, take your time getting there. It’s the journey I’m undertaking. And for once, I’m ready to take it.[image error]
