Hey Mary, thank you for inviting me to your blog to chat about my new release SECURITY FORCE OF TWO, and companion animals in our books and homes.

Do you have companion animals at home? I do and I don’t know what I’d do without them. When I’m feeling low,...

Medieval Monday | A Hero in a King

Welcome to Medieval Monday in the tavern!

With the month of March, I tend to think of my Irish roots, which I've shared on a recent Friday Feast. This led me on a path to recall one of my heroes who are not from my stories. Ever since I read the Lion of Ireland by Morgan Llywelyn many decades ago, I’ve had this fascination for the great Irish King, Brian Boru (941-1014).

The youngest of twelve sons, Brian would eventually become king of Ireland, and the founder of the O'Brien dynasty. In 1002...

Friday Feast | Kiss Me I'm #Irish

Welcome to an Irish Friday Feast in the tavern! Can you hear me above the music? Though only 36% of my DNA is Irish, I can feel the blood of my ancestors and the land calling out to me during this month. Perhaps it has to do with St. Patrick's Day, or that spring is arriving next week. I don't really know, but I sure do welcome the feeling.

It's been another busy week with a couple days of computer glitches, so what better way than to end it with an ice cream float made with Guinness, aye? The...

Medieval Monday | Ancient Jewelry

Welcome to Medieval Monday!

Recently, I read about a fascinating find by a Dutch historian. With a metal detector, he uncovered a treasure trove in the Netherlands over 1,000 years old! Not only did he find coins, but also exquisite gold jewelry. Here’s a snippet from the article in Artnews:

A 1,000-year-old Medieval treasure trove, including four golden ear pendants, two strips of gold leaf, and 39 silver coins were found by a Dutch historian, according to the Dutch National Museum of Antiq...

Friday Feast | Irish Stout Dip with Blue Cheese and Shallots

Welcome to Friday Feast in the tavern!

We’re celebrating all things Irish this month! My Irish ancestry flows heavily within my veins, so the recipes reflected will lean toward the beautiful isle of Ireland.

To start the celebration, I’ve chosen a dip I love to make. You’ve heard my confession numerous times for my love affair with Guinness. Obviously, this is my chosen ingredient for the dip. However, feel free to swap out with one of your favorites.

“The light of illumination often is foun...

Medieval Monday | Word for March 2023

Welcome to Medieval Monday! The word for March is Demesne.

From Merriam Webster Dictionary:

The word actually began as "demayn" or "demeyn" in the 14th century, when it was borrowed from Anglo-French property law. At that time, the Anglo-French form was "demeine." Later, the Anglo-French spelling changed to "demesne," perhaps by association with another term from Anglo-French property law: mesne, meaning "intermediate."

I see this as another opportunity to weave this particular word into one ...

Friday Feast | A Decadent Chicken Meal

Welcome to Friday Feast!

My apologies for the lack of recipes in February. Between celebrating my 40th wedding anniversary and tending to a family member who had surgery, there was little time to create and/or share anything new in the tavern.

As we are now in the month of March, my thoughts drift toward recipes with an Irish twist. Yet I couldn’t resist sharing this delicious chicken recipe. And I’m going to warn you right now this recipe is decadent and high in calories. So plan on an extr...

Let's Test our #Medieval Knowledge

Welcome to Medieval Monday! I'm keeping it simple today with a few interesting bits of trivia from the medieval time-period. Give a shout-out if you know any of these facts.

Shrews' Fiddle

A shrew's fiddle or neck violin is a variation of the yoke, whereby the wrists are locked in front of the bound person by a hinged board or steel bar. It was originally used in the Middle Ages as a way of punishing those who were caught bickering or fighting. This way they were forced to resolve their differ...
