Please make welcome to the tavern the lovely Heidi Eljarbo! We're celebrating her new book release, Twelfth Cake House. This looks like a wonderful read for the season, so grab a cup of mulled cider and let's take a peek at Heidi's story...

Even a clever matchmaker may need a push in the right direction if she’s to find true love. When she’s asked to find a match for herself, it proves to be the most difficult task she’s ever undertaken.

Friday Feast | Garlic and Cheese Rolls

Welcome to Friday Feast in the tavern!
With the holidays fast approaching (10 days, dear readers), I'm planning our Christmas menu, and the main theme will be simplicity. As some may know, my knight had surgery this week (he's doing well and on the mend), so any plans to bake my own bread, rolls, festive breakfast creations have been tossed aside for a more easier prep. Nothing makes me happier than the scent of freshly baked bread. However, I'll save the baking of bread for another week or mon...

Medieval Monday | Countdown for the Pirate Wolf

Welcome to Medieval Monday!
The countdown has started for the Pirate Wolf and his Lady. With four weeks and 2 days until the worldwide release for STEINAR, book three in the Wolves of Clan Sutherland series, I'd like to share snippet from the story. Like I've mentioned before, Steinar and Inga led me on an epic sea adventure. I'll never look at the seas the same again.
Next Monday, I have a fabulous author sharing her new holiday release. I hope you'll stop by in support. With Christmas and N...

Friday Feast | Festive Peppermint Bark

Welcome to Friday Feast in the tavern!
The festive holiday season is in full swing in the Morgan’s castle and kitchen. Though this year’s holiday baking is getting off to a slow start, I’m planning (well, hopefully) to do Christmas baking this weekend. Now years ago, I started my holiday baking in September. Yes, you’ve read correctly. September started with cookies, candy, and fruitcake. Cookies and candy were stored in the freezer, and the fruitcake in the pantry, where I would pour generous...

Medieval Monday | Ancient Word for December 2023

Welcome to Medieval Monday in Mary's Tavern, and the month of December!
Please, someone pinch me! I can't believe we're in the last month of 2023! For the season, I thought to present an ancient word celebrating this joyous month. I'm certain some of my medieval author friends might know the meaning of this word, so let's get started...

The Coffee Pot Book Club Presents "London Tales" by Tim Walker

Please make welcome to the tavern the phenomenal author, Tim Walker! We're celebrating his new release, London Tales. Grab a cup of mead or cider and let's take a peek into Tim's new book...

This collection of eleven tales offers dramatic pinpricks in the rich tapestry of London’s timeline, a city with two thousand years of history. They are glimpses of imagined lives at key moments, starting with a prologue in verse from the point of view of a native Briton tribeswoman absorbing the shock of Ro...

Thanksgiving Blessings and Tavern News

Hello, dear friends,
With the sudden death of my uncle this week, I'm closing Mary's Tavern until after the Thanksgiving holiday. My uncle truly loved Scotland (it was in his DNA), and was proud of my accomplishments as an author. Whenever he'd send me a text, he managed to always include an emoji of the Scottish flag at the end of his messages. His life stories were detailed and immense, and he will be greatly missed in our family.
Recently, I was looking for a recipe and came across the one...

Medieval Monday | Traveling the Seas with Steinar

Welcome to Medieval Monday in the tavern!
Over the next couple months, I’ll share some of my research while writing Steinar. In this story, most of the adventure takes place on the seas. Steinar and Inga are both leaders who regard the water as their home. In previous books in the Wolves of Clan Sutherland, Steinar is mentioned as becoming sullen and withdrawn when he travels on land. Obviously, his power is connected to the sea, and he requires no set compass or instruments.
Besides relying ...

Friday Feast | Crazy for Dill Pickles Part 2

Welcome to Friday Feast in the tavern!
During the colder season, I lean toward hearty soups and chili recipes. Nothing too involved either. While I’ve confessed in previous posts about my love of pickles—hot, spicy, or sweet, I thought to return to the topic again with a soup. Yes, you’ve read correctly, dear friends. A dill pickle soup that’s absolutely delish! My apologies if you’ve turned away in horror, or if you do not like pickles. However, it’s what the tavern is serving today, so why n...

The Coffee Pot Book Club Presents "Times of Turmoil" by Anna Belfrage

Please welcome back to the tavern the lovely and talented author Anna Belfrage! We're celebrating her new release, Times of Turmoil! I'm definitely intrigued with this time-travel novel. Grab a cup of cider and let's take a peek at Anna's new story...
