Blog Challenge
I have a new post live today. Weekly Blog Challenge--What I learned from my Worst Review.
What did I learn from my worst review?
Laughing. I remember the worst one or the one I think was the worst so very well. It was a one star and I had had to read it twice. As I read through the second time, I frowned. I thought they gave me a back-handed compliment.
Why would I say that? Well, my take on the review was that the reader liked the story but not certain aspects of it. As also all I really ended up hearing from those words was that I had a vivid imagination or too much of one.
Yes, I laughed my butt off. When you write fantasy I think, I think you should bring it. Sometimes it’s a swing and a miss and some people won’t get it. Others will not only get it but enjoy it.

Second Chance Romance
Today's Second Chance Romance excerpt is all about Caroline's Choice to move past her parents control.
“Caroline,” Margret called. “Caroline.”
Lucky pulled up short and released her. Caroline turned to her mother who strode toward them and slapped her.
“How could you do this to me?” she demanded. “I told you not to embarrass me.” Margret moved in closer, and Lucky was between them in a heartbeat. “Get out of my way, you cheap imitation of a man.”
“Take it down a notch,” Lucky ordered.
“You don’t tell me what to do,” Margret snapped. “I’m not a pathetic little girl you can manipulate like Caroline.”
“I guess that’s why you’re so upset,” Caroline said, fighting back tears. The sting of the slap still burned her cheek. “I’m not allowing you to control me anymore.”
“You don’t know what you want, and you never did. I always had your best interest in mind and still do. You’ll come back inside with me now and apologize for your behavior toward your father and me.”
“Not tonight and maybe not ever,” she said softly. “Lucky, take me home, please.”
Lucky backed away from Margret whose cold glare caused a shiver to run up Caroline’s spine.
“You’re going to regret involving yourself in my family, Kane,” Margret said and turned and strode back the way she’d come.
Caroline pressed her fingers to her lips and Lucky wrapped her arm around Caroline pulling her close.
“Caroline,” Margret called. “Caroline.”
Lucky pulled up short and released her. Caroline turned to her mother who strode toward them and slapped her.

Second Chance Romance
This week's Second Chance Romance is Caroline's Choice. I had a few reasons for choosing it.
Caroline’s Choice qualifies as a second chance romance because as Caroline’s Heart ends Lucky and Caroline are just starting to get back together good. So now they’re navigating their second chance which is a struggle with everything going on in Caroline’s family.
Caroline is still on her personal journey of self-discovery. She’s breaking away from her family in this one and she’s learning how to trust herself even though it’s hard. She’s making mistakes but certain of what she wants she’s going for it for good or ill. As a result, it’s sort of like Caroline’s second chance at a life of her choosing.
Isn’t that partially what life is about at times? Making choices and choosing again when things don’t work out? Caroline’s allowed chances at living her life according to her slip past so many times but now she’s taking a chance on herself and Lucky.
There is so much uncertainty in the relationship with her parents and so much that can go wrong and send her running back to them. She’s really just starting to come out.
Lucky is also struggling with her own feelings. These two women know what they want, but trusting their hearts isn’t easy in the climate rife with bigotry, danger and conspiracy.
In some ways, this story isn’t for the sensitive. No one’s groveling and there is very little sugar coating.
