I got these books as freebies and started reading the series withough any great expectations. I was thoroughly enthralled by the series – the story, the writing, the characters. I am attracted to series where the characters are people who become my friends. Lainey and the others in the books have definitely become people I want to spend more time with...

Losing a friend | author’s note

I’ve been working hard on my latest book over the past month, and the end is definitely in sight. I hope to have it finished within the next week. Sadly, just as this new book is coming together, I’ve also had the heartbreaking experience of losing a very dear pet. He was ill for some time with an infected tumor, and went downhill very quickly beginning the middle of last week. He stopped eating, and something in his eyes changed. Saturday I took him to be euthanized.

I haven’t been spending much time on my blog lately, because I’ve become deeply involved in writing my next book. What began as a tiny spark of an idea has turned into 42,000 words and counting. In fact, I’m raring to get back to it right now so this is going to be pretty short.


What I love about writing is the way it takes me to another place. A place where my imagination connects directly to the blank page through language, through my fingers. It feels like magic when it’s happening—even if...

The Writing Itch | author’s note

MP900309617[1]It’s beginning again: the itch. I’ve started to play around with a tiny baby kernel of an idea for a book.


“If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” ― Toni Morrison


When I say baby kernel, I mean there’s no plot yet, nor is there a main character, and I only have the vaguest beginning of a notion where it might be set. I’m holding several possibilities very lightly in my mind, knowing that if I don’t look at them directly, if I dream side...
