If I do, it's rarely because I can't think of anything, but rather I'm entertaining too many optio…moreThankfully, I don't find myself blocked very often. If I do, it's rarely because I can't think of anything, but rather I'm entertaining too many options. To get past it, I might sleep on it, or run some errands. Sometimes it takes writing and rewriting a scene, or even writing multiple scenes then picking the one that best moves the story forward. If all that fails, then a glass or two of wine usually gets things moving right along.(less)

This can be a difficult hurdle to overcome, especially for new authors. Most writers are sensitive creatures, and naturally we want people to love our stuff. But readers have every right to love, hate, or be indifferent about a book. Have you loved every book you've ever read? There are millions of books out there, and a reader chose yours. Be gracious and thankful that they took a chance on you.(less)
