Today’s stop on the blog tour is First Page to the Last. This site was created by Kathie, someone we’ve been fortunate enough to meet twice in real life. She is a good friend and someone who knows a good story when she sees one. Although we have known one another for quite a while now, this is the first time our mutual sites have crossed paths in the Author/Blogger relationship. We were thrilled when Kathie signed up to spotlight Exposure on the blog tour. Having her valued support for our debut novel means a great deal to us personally. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Morgan and I are happy to announce that you can now request a digital autograph for your ebook of Exposure by visiting the Authorgraph website. We’ve added a widget here on our blog page. Simply give it a click and it will take you right where you need to go.

Thanks and Take Care,

Morgan and Jennifer

Exposure Blog Tour: Sydney Logan

sydneyloganoriginalbannerbyjada (2)

Sydney Logan:

Sydney Logan is an Amazon bestselling author who may or may not have an unhealthy obsession with music (seriously, she loves everything from Eminem to Johnny Cash). She also has an amazing husband and a ridiculously spoiled cat, both of whom join her in soaking up the stunning views from their East Tennessee front porch.

Find her on Amazon, iTunes, B&N, and TWCS Publishing House.

Visit her online at www.sydneylogan.com.

Twitter: @SydneyALogan

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SydneyLoganAuthor

Today on the blog tour, we’re stopping by the online home of fellow author Sydney Logan.  We’ve known Sydney for several years and Jennifer has even reviewed several of Sydney’s stories during the past year.  She has been wonderful to us with her personal encouragement as we’ve prepared to launch the novel. We’re thrilled Sydney has chosen to spotlight our book today. Having her enthusiastic support means a great deal to us personally, so be sure to stop by and say hello.

Exposure Blog Tour: My Book Filled Life

my book filled life

My Book Filled Life:

I’m Nicole, married to a police officer and we’ve got two school age children. I’m currently employed as a graphic designer when I’m not reading. Both my husband and I are veterans of the US Air Force; I served for 9 years before moving on to something new. I’m currently obsessed with my Kindle and Godiva truffles (the Tiramisu is my favorite!)

I’ve been reading forever (at least since the age of 4), and while I don’t stick to any one genre, I prefer to read books from the Paranormal, Romance, Mysteries, YA/NA and Erotica categories. I like to review fairly, tell what I liked and didn’t like about a book, but I don’t believe in just flat-out bashing the book or the author; I have much respect for anyone who has the fortitude to create characters and stories from their imagination.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit!

Review teaser for Exposure: “4 1/2 stars – “Quick, witty dialogue with a few twists and turns…”

Our second stop on today’s blog tour is My Book Filled Life, where you can read both an excerpt from the novel along with Nicole’s review of the story.  We are grateful for her participation on the blog tour.  As new authors, every word of mouth recommendation is important and valued, and we’ve been continually pleased this past week as Exposure has received one positive review after another.  Having Nicole’s enthusiastic support for our debut novel means a great deal to us personally. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Exposure Blog Tour: About That Story

About That Story

About That Story:

Hi everyone! I’m Gretchen, wife, mom, avid reader, and blogger. I decided to start a book review blog to share my love of reading, books, and what I think of them. I strive to write “real people” reviews and not reviewer reviews where the synopsis is rehashed.

I like to read a variety of books: Paranormal – Romance, Vampire, Fantasy. Young Adult Dystopia. Science Fiction Fantasy. New Adult. Contemporary Romance. Adult Fiction/Romance. I’m currently on an Adult kick. ;-)

I post my reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, my blog, Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook.

If you’re all about the books, welcome! Happy to have you!

And just for fun…

10 random things about me:

I love Mondays… seriously!
Mexican food is awesome.
I’m a huge fan of Diet Coke.
My favorite color is lime green (which also happens to be the color of my office).
I love my elliptical!
I’d probably be lost without my Kindle.
I’ve got a thing for Classic Rock.
I made Lemon Chicken once… once… it’s an incident my family will never let me live down.
I talk a lot.
I’m a morning person (my husband is not… to bad for him I talk a lot!)

One of the stops on today’s blog tour is About That Story. We were delighted when Gretchen opted to make a promo post on her blog and are honored to have Exposure spotlighted.  Gretchen has posted one of the many humorous moments we included in the story, so be sure to pop over and wave hello.

Wordslinger: Bookseller

With the exception of a short story called Pirate’s Booty that I posted on this site in 2012, I have stuck to topics that revolve around the writing and editing process. I seldom referred to my own work by name; however, last Tuesday my wife and I had our first novel published and I would like to write about our experience.

Exposure was my wife’s idea. She wanted the story to be sexy but funny, and she wanted a villain you’d love to hate. She approached me with the outline and asked if I wanted to put my zombie book on hold (again) and co-author the story with her. I liked that it took place in and around a movie set and jumped at the chance to work with someone who had already proven herself as a keen writer and a ruthless editor. (I used to call her Darth Beta).

Once we were accepted by Omnific, (our first choice of publisher, and not just because they initially published Gabriel’s Inferno), we were contacted by the managing editor who immediately asked us to find fifteen thousand words to cut. Challenge accepted…we cut twenty-two. Once we got the hang of it, it was easy to see what was unnecessary versus what was supporting the story.

After our big “cutting” edit, we were assigned an editor who worked with us for the next four months to prepare the story for publication. He had us re-think almost every aspect and pushed us hard to explore all avenues, but always treated us with respect and an open mind. As a result, we are much happier with the final result than we had been when we first submitted the manuscript.

The most amazing thing about the whole process to me is the realization that only six weeks ago we added a small scene to the middle of the book. This was done to better examine a character’s response to something. The fact that some passages are two years old, while others are less than two months old, is mind boggling to me. It reads seamlessly, of course, but I’ll always know and it’s just a bizarre feeling.

Now that the book is out we are in full PR mode, but have spoken to each other about the importance of not letting our Facebook and Twitter pages become one endless plea to buy our novel. We have all had that author in our timelines who does nothing more than program “gremlins” to give themselves a shout out every thirty seconds, and it’s not an account you usually wish to continue following. That’s not to say that one shouldn’t use their social media to remind fans and friends of their projects, but it’s possible to do so without drowning them in links to Amazon.

Writing professionally is like playing poker – it’s not a single pot that keeps you in the game; it’s consistent winning. We are both already working on solo novels for publication and hope that one day we will be able to devote ourselves to the profession full-time. If not this book, then maybe the next. But, if nothing else, we are growing closer as a couple by working together, and we’re growing as writers by listening to the good advice given to us over the years.

I hope that Wordslinger has been dispensing such advice, and now I am in the position of putting my money where my mouth is. Exposure is the result of two years of work by a dedicated married couple who just wanted to produce a fun and funky read with super steamy bits and more pop culture references than an episode of Robot Chicken.

If you’ve read this column and always wondered if I follow my own advice, or if any of it will work, I urge you to let Exposure speak to the success of discipline and dedication. (As well as having a wife that writes half the book).

In closing, I’d like to share an excerpt from our novel…

Exposure Cover Final 2

Acknowledgements

We wish to begin by thanking Becca, Elli and Sue, all of whom volunteered their valuable time and talents. They read this story and provided feedback at nearly every stage in the writing process. From the beginning, their commitment and enthusiasm for this novel has been nothing less than amazing. They invested as many months into this story as we did, and did so from behind the scenes. This is why Exposure has been dedicated in their names.

Thank you to Nina for her guidance and support. She has been instrumental in the publication of this story and we extend our heartfelt appreciation. Thanks also to Mina Vaughn for generously providing advice early in the submission process. She steered us in the right direction, and we are grateful for her assistance. We also thank Carmen and Chris for their friendship and help during a critical time.

We have enjoyed our collaboration with Omnific and especially wish to thank Nina, Lisa, Elizabeth, Colleen and Kimberly for their hard work. Special thanks go to our editor, Sean, for taking us on and showing us the ropes. We consider ourselves fortunate. We’ve enjoyed working with him and everyone at Omnific and look forward to doing so again in the future.

Writing has brought us closer together as husband and wife, but also required much of our time and attention. Our friends and family deserve more thanks than we can adequately provide. Over the past four years, there were moments when those closest to us raised an eyebrow or two, but no one ever discouraged us from the journey. For that, we will be forever grateful.

Finally, we wish to thank E.L. James and Sylvain Reynard. Their stories sparked our own creativity while their friendship and support have enriched our lives. Many thanks for all they have done for us.

And of course, no list of thank you’s would be complete without thanking those of you who choose to give our book your time and attention as readers. We’re excited to finally share Exposure with you and we hope you’ll enjoy the story.

Your Pal,

Morgan

Exposure Blog Tour: FicSisters – The International House of Fanfic

FicSisters

FicSisters:

FicSisters are a group of dedicated readers of fanfiction and associated literature. Our friendship is so strong it spins across the world, netting at least three different continents – four, if you count the imaginary landmass where the sparkly vampires live.

Some of us have travelled very far to meet up in Real Life, and some may have intimated to SOs that we spend so much time online because we belong to an international book club. On one such occasion, somewhere in a haze of Pinot Grigio and fond memories, the idea for an International House of FanFic arose. No pancakes are served here; only luscious mounds of fluffy fiction and endless cups of Twific tea.

The FicSister thrill comes from the pleasure we feel in finding and sharing a fabulous fic, and knowing someone else is going to be touched by it too. We thrive on knowing that we can give a little bit back to the authors who share their words, by bringing them readers who may stay with them for years to come.

Website: http://ficsisters.com/

Twitter: @FicSisters

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ficsisters.house

We’ve been open about the fact that our roots as a writing team are well-established in the world of Twilight Fanfiction.  We were introduced to the community by an online acquaintance in late 2009, and six weeks later Morgan began posting his first story there.  We had no idea what we were jumping into, but we were quickly embraced by a supportive and enthusiastic community of readers, writers and beta readers.  In the years that followed, we’ve made countless friends from all over the globe and discovered what corner of the online world was truly ours to call home.

Yesterday, when we received word that the FicSisters had reviewed Exposure, we  were both excited and nervous.  FicSisters are in a unique position compared to other blogs.  They read the rawest rough draft of this story in 2012 and were able to compare that to the version now available as a novel. As previous readers of the earliest version and as members of a community that has come to mean so much to us personally, their opinion is a valued one.

Exposure, by Morgan & Jennifer Locklear, is a sweet, entertaining, love story, set against the backdrop of the everyday reality of shenanigans and backstabbing in the movie industry.

The story leads are Shaunna Noble: a top Hollywood publicist, and David Quinn: an actor whose star is shooting for outer space. Talking of outer space, that’s the setting for the blockbuster movie that bring our cast of characters together, pardon the pun. We discover that sometimes there is a much acting going on off set, as there is while the cameras are rolling. And, fans, the media, the stars, and their publicists, spin the truth so fast, it’s hard to know who is leading whom on.

David is sexy, romantic, and humble, a delicious combination in a man, while the lady he sets his cap to is Shaunna: feisty, on the shy side, and clever. Their getting-to-know-you phase is unconventional, to say the least, and it, combined with the sizzling passion, witty dialogue, and crazy Hollywood life, will keep you turning those pages.

Exposure is the perfect summer read!

We extend our gratitude to FicSisters for these lovely words.  Be sure to stop by their website or social media sites to keep up with their latest recommendations.  And please let them know we sent you their way!

You can now request a digital autograph for your ebook of Exposure by visiting the Authorgraph website. We’ve added a widget here on our blog page. Simply give it a click and it will take you right where you need to go.

Thanks and Take Care,

Morgan and Jennifer

Exposure Blog Tour: Books & Fandom

Books & Fandom

Books & Fandom:

Fandom lover, reader, blogger, and reviewer. All around fan, part time stalker of my favorites. I love the mythical world and all the stories that put a smile on my face. I love the authors and the creativity they inspire. But most of all, I love how the stories make me feel, make me think, make me believe.

I initially started the site to promote the amazing under appreciated stories that I personally loved. Starting out small doing reviews, quickly blossoming to promoting the contests and causes that make up the fandom.

We now have a multitude of segments that include author interviews, spotlighting, guest reviews, book reviews, blog tours, and new story promotions.
