Book 3: Into the Sunlits Nameless has lost nearly everything when the Web Mother rewarded his work, and now must rebuild from the ashes of his victory. With only his trainer, he journeys to another realm in search for new potential Silks to honor the oaths he gave to Her.
Developing a stable of potential fighters around an unusual group of captives, teaches Nameless some of who and what he is outside his rank and goddess’ living avatar. His single-minded self-imposed quest leads him into trouble that pulls him away from his new captives, leaving their care in the unstable hands of his trainer. When the group is reunited, the resentment expressed by one of the captives drives him to the edge of sanity. There he is tempered and forged into a new force. But is he a force of balance, or a force of chaos?

A little bit about the series:The series started as a role play back story for Nameless about 10 years ago. When the group I played with drifted apart, I thought I was done with him. In August of 1014, the story decided it was not done with me. I was enrolled in college with a daunting schedule of twelve graduate level hours when the story caught up to me. I was given the ultimatum: Write the story, or I wouldn’t be allowed to sleep.I tried, I really did try to wiggle out of the clutches of my writing bug. Obviously, it won, and I lost. However, despite being a little overwhelmed at times, I’m grateful for where this story has taken me. It is a dark fantasy, yet I also feel that it provides a little hope for those suffering from mental illness. In researching for both Nameless, and one of the support characters who is introduced in Into the Sunlits, there are a wide range of issues I wind up touching on. From being ostracized, exiled, and neglected to being accepted despite having a mental disorder, or looking different.Yes, some of the actual facts are well hidden – this is fantasy after all – but at the core of each character that is introduced, there is something there that today’s society finds reason to hate, fear, or distrust. And, yet, through it all, Nameless and his captives grow as people, and find acceptance among themselves. As an author, I have taken up the challenge I offer to any other writer, blogger, or fellow published author – be a beacon of hope. It does not matter which genre you write in, you can still show the world and influence your readers, that being different does not mean you cannot find and make friends.

Snippet for #WeWriWa from WIP Grand Master's Mate

Today, I’ll continue the horrid wedding scene from my WIP, Grand Master’s Mate, Book 3 in the trilogy. Violet and her Grand Master, Athanor, are at her friend’s wedding when the Red Queen, Morrigu, drops in, explosively.
You can read last Sunday’s snippet here:

Blue psi streaked from Athanor at his enemy. Whirling to face his threat, Morrigu flung a red curtain to block the blue ray. The two opposing Grand Masters were evenly matched, but Athanor was expending his energy to protect the unpowered people. Shaken and helpless, Violet bit her lip. Who would weaken first?
Bells chimed and a pillar of white light appeared next to Lira. The scent of roses wafted through the room. The bright pillar resolved into a tall lady with long, golden hair and a flowing pink dress. “Amarylla,” Violet cried, recognizing the flowery scent of the Grand Master in spite of her human disguise.

An Interrupted Wedding 5 - Snippet for #WeWriWa from Grand Master's Mate

Today, I’ll continue the horrid wedding scene from my WIP, Grand Master’s Mate, Book 3 in the trilogy. Violet and her Grand Master, Athanor, are at the wedding of her friends when the Red Queen, Morrigu, drops in, explosively.
You can read last Sunday’s snippet here: http://auroraspringernovels.blogspot.com/2015/09/an-interrupted-wedding-4-snippet-for.html. Steeling for combat, Violet called to Athanor, “Fetch my sword. I’ll divert her attention.” Sensing him teleport the Sword of Tyr, she opened her hand to clasp the hilt. Purple fire swept from the pommel to the tip of the blade. Jumping out of Athanor’s protective envelope, Violet aimed the sword at the Red Queen. Insane hatred beat into her mind and Violet staggered under the impact of Morrigu’s fury. Firming her mental shield, she took a step forward and thrust the blade at the Red Queen. Psi blasted her backwards, a chair slammed against her leg and she fell. Holding the sword steady, Violet twisted aside and landed on her outstretched palm. Bouncing back onto her feet and swiveling to face the Red Queen, Violet was blocked by the horrendous psi pressure.

FREE mini eBook Oct 2-3 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T0TOZYO
Excerpt from Book 2, Grand Master’s Game:They popped into the central ring of Moon Station by the row of portal cylinders, finding an eerie silence and none of the usual bustle of travelers entering and exiting the portals. No lights or buzz of machinery from the inner hub, housing the air handler and climate controller for the station. Sunlight filtered through the transparent dome overhead, and the sensors on Violet’s suit indicated the air was breathable without leaks in their segment of the Station. “Hades, we’re stuck here!” Athanor swore in a flare of rage. To Violet’s astonishment, his eyes were dull and his disguised face had reverted to the grim hawkish features. “I’ve lost power.” His explanation was unnecessary. Closing her eyes, Violet assessed her senses. Nothing! She gasped, “So have I.” Athanor said, “We are fortunate the atmosphere was retained in this section.” Kondric pulled off the headpiece of his suit, wrinkled his nose and nodded. Following his example, Violet rolled off the headpiece and sniffed cautiously. She identified the stale smell of recycled air. The workmen placed their toolboxes by the nearest portal cylinder and swung the door open. Kondric watched them with interest. Shaking back his long hair, Athanor wandered over to the transparent barrier separating the inner ring from the outer terminal. Violet gazed beyond the outer ring of the station to the crater pocked surface of the moon. Nearby, she spotted the blue-tinted dome of the low gravity sanatorium, and in the distance, the cranes and towers of the mining operations. The hiss of air alerted her. Rotating towards the sound, Violet saw the air-locked door to the next section of the ring slide aside. Massive creatures bounded through the door. Twice the size of a man, they were a nightmare cross of spider and wasp with eight legs, stubby wings, yellow and black stripes, and huge mandibles like a pair of scythes. They were inhumanly fast. One hurtled straight at Violet, jaws open like giant scissors. The giant striped spider leaped at Violet and she dodged aside. Too late! Her attacker jammed her neck in its pincers and dragged her off her feet. She swung from its mandibles, her hands and feet struggling for purchase on its hard carapace. One small part of her mind wondered how she could still breathe. The rest of her brain searched for an escape. In the background, the yells, screams, thudding blows, and the muffled boom of an explosion told of her companions’ battles. An acid odor filled the air and the enormous head loomed over her face, eight giant eyes next to hers. Energized by terror, Violet grabbed hold of one pincer and scraped her fingernails across the nearest eyes. She’d hit a sensitive spot. The spider-wasp jerked violently, flinging Violet’s body from side to side. Her legs thumped on the floor. Biting back the pain, she clawed at another eye and twisted her legs, bracing her knees against the base of its fore limbs. The jaws held firm on her neck. She was stuck. Something grabbed her arm. A large hand thrust a dagger into the monster’s eye, twisting deep into the head. A blood stained hand in a familiar black leather sleeve. Green blood spouted around the blade. The monster jerked and stilled, its jaws still clamped on her neck. Athanor had stabbed into its brain. His grim face hovered over her startled eyes, his teeth bared in a fierce grimace. He grasped the ends of the horrid mandibles, gritted his teeth and exerted his full strength to open the jaws. Violet toppled onto Athanor’s knees. In the background, the stump of heavy footsteps preceded a shout of command and the zap of heavy weapons. The cavalry had arrived, belatedly.

New Release - Stranded with the Cyborg by Cara Bristol

Blurb:Penelope Aaron, the former Terran president’s daughter, regrets how she got Agent Brock Mann booted from the security force. But now that she’s an interplanetary ambassador about to embark on her first diplomatic mission, she still doesn’t want him tagging along. Especially since he seems to be stronger, faster, more muscled, and sexier than she remembers. And pretending to be her husband? This mission couldn’t get more impossible!
Ten years ago Penelope Isabella Aaron had been a pain in Brock Mann’s you-know-what. Much has changed in a decade: “PIA” as he code-named her, has grown up and is about to attend her first Alliance of Planets summit conference, and Brock has been transformed into a cyborg after a near-fatal attack. Now a secret agent with Cyber Operations, a covert paramilitary organization, Brock gets called in, not when the going gets tough, but when the going gets impossible. So when he’s unexpectedly assigned to escort Penelope to the summit meeting, he balks at babysitting a prissy ambassador. But after a terrorist bombing, a crash landing on a hostile planet, and a growing attraction to his protectee, Operation: PIA may become his most impossible assignment yet.
Excerpt “Ten years have passed. Penelope is different now,” Carter said.Brock doubted that. “Does she know about me?”“That you’re a cyborg? Of course not. She hasn’t been told anything about the program or even that you’re the one who’s been assigned to her.”“Yeah, spring it on her. That will go over well.” He could envision the tantrum, and, after she calmed down, the scheme she would devise to circumvent the decision. The last time he’d seen her, she’d been emerging from his quarters half-dressed, a triumphant smile tilting her lips. Shortly thereafter, two fellow agents had come to arrest him.President Aaron had exonerated him, the transcripts from the investigation had been sealed, and he’d been offered reassignment. Instead, he’d taken a position with an anti-terrorist investigative organization. His unit got attacked; his fellow operatives had died. Carter, who’d been working with Cy-Ops all along, had swooped in and saved his ass.“I’m not saying I’ll do it, but, hypothetically, if I had a computer meltdown and agreed, what would be my cover story? I couldn’t tag along as her bodyguard because that would unsettle the Xenians.”Carter poured another shot of Cerinian brandy and downed it. He met Brock’s gaze dead-on. “You’d accompany Ambassador Aaron as her husband.”“Oh, hell no!”

An Interrupted Wedding 4 - snippet for #WeWriWa from Grand Master's Mate

Today, I’ll continue the horrid wedding scene from my WIP, Grand Master’s Mate, Book 3 in the trilogy. Violet and her Grand Master, Athanor, are at the wedding of her friends, when another Grand Master, the Red Queen, Morrigu, drops in, explosively.
You can read last Sunday’s snippet here: http://auroraspringernovels.blogspot.com/2015/09/an-interrupted-wedding-3-wewriwa-from.htmlThe snippet ended with:Grimacing in fury, the Red Queen zapped red rays at Athanor, again and again.
Her attacks were futile. She was unable to penetrate his shield, strengthened by his link with Violet. An impasse. Ruby lasers reflected from the translucent blue envelope around Athanor and the people he shielded. Morrigu roared her frustration. Raising her red arms to the ceiling, Morrigu blasted the intact windows. Glass panes crashed down and Athanor tightened his screen over the helpless people. The roof trusses creaked and snapped, tumbling onto the sizzling blue bubble of Athanor’s shield. He pumped energy into the defensive screen, leaving nothing for a thrust at their devilish red attacker.

The Planets Eden and Vkani and Their Inhabitants - Plus Freebie

ATRAPAKO PHYSICAL APPEARANCE AND CULTURE
Physically, the Atrapako are bulky humanoids because of the heavy gravity on their native planet. They are covered in thick scales with protective ridges down their noses and along the length of their torsos. They have crests of stiff spines and curved claws on their hands and feet. They rarely wear shoes and their toe claws click when they walk on hard surfaces. The Atrapako have a rigid class system and their scales are colored according to their class. Blues are the dominating leaders. They scheme for power and expect instant obedience from the other classes. Greens are the technologists, scientists, and mechanics. Reds are strong and massive. They are soldiers and laborers and rarely speak. They have no names as far as the other classes are concerned. Yellows are the children and anyone not included in the other three classes. For instance, an artist would be a Yellow since art is an unvalued talent, unnecessary for survival on Vkani.
Book 1, The Lady is Blue, is FREE September 24-26th. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K1N951Q

The story of what happened when the Atrapako first meet humans is told in Book 1“The Lady is Blue”. A spaceship of Atrapako escaping from the hostilities on their native planet is forced to land on the planet of Eden. The Atrapako are sick and their ship is falling apart. The friendly human colonists on Eden are thrilled to meet aliens, while the Atrapako believe the humans are weak and emotional. Eden is a true paradise and the human colonists have peaceful lives and enjoy parties and a variety of intellectual and physical pursuits. They are sure to clash with the rigid Atrapako. Dr. Lucy Stannis, one of the top scientists on Eden, befriends the Blue, Sa Kamizan Veedak, who led the Atrapako in the spaceship. He is surprised frequently by her intelligence and fighting skills. After combatting assassination attempts and rebellions, Lucy and Sa Kamizan find a solution to the conflict between the two cultures.
THE PLANET OF VKANI
The continents on Vkani have arid deserts and rugged mountains. Sandstorms scour the dry lands and thunderstorms blast the mountains. The larger life forms are reptilian, such as the dragon lizards and pterodactyl-like flying predators described in Book 2 “Dragons of Vkani”. No life can survive in the lethal Deadlands. Atrapako life is barbaric and ruled by the threat of attack by marauders or a major battle. There are few cities, full of miserable slums, because of the almost constant wars. High ranked Blues live in fortresses in the mountains or underground. The history and origin of the Atrapako are probed in “Dragons of Vkani” when a human spaceship brings a mixed group of human scientists and Atrapako to rescue the relatives of the Atrapako on Eden.
