This weekend, I’m continuing a scene from my latest release, Cosmic Wars , Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy. The Griffins, Violet, Athanor, and their son, Varan, are at home when their dragon friends visit with their baby, Istros. Excuse my misuse of semicolons.
While the baby dragon and boy splashed in the shallow water of the stream, Violet described the planet of Gorland and its inhabitants; she concluded, “The Nulls, like dragons, are immune to our zyzost powers.” Athanor growled, “They have joined forces with the Ixioths in our galaxy to invade remote planets and capture new slaves.” “The fate of Vrons lies out of the claws of dragons,” Ythris hissed, rattling his scales in displeasure. “The scales,” Violet sent. “You phrase the request, my persuasive wife.” She rolled her eyes at Athanor, and turned to face the Black Dragon, “We have a question for you, Ythris.” “A Zyzost Vron may ask,” His great golden eyes glinted in sudden interest. “Master Smith Stimon suggested dragon’s scales might be impervious to the Nulls’ weapons.” Ythris rattled his scales, while Istrelle stilled. The dragons’ flare of emotions made Violet hesitate; had she overstepped a boundary?

This weekend, I’m continuing a scene from my latest release, Cosmic Wars , Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy. The Black Dragon croaked, “We promised to bring our son to meet your Vron child.” Her large emerald eyes gleaming, Istrelle chimed, “We wish to learn of your exploits in the peculiar lands beyond the Rift.” “You are welcome in the Griffin’s Eyrie,” Athanor said in his most gracious tone. Crouching on one knee, he propped Varan on his thigh and offered his hand to the small dragon. “Dragon,” the boy squealed in excitement and clapped his hands. Istros hissed and retreated a step, swinging his thin tail in alarm. Her musical voice full of laughter, Istrelle sang, “Little Vron will not hurt you. We are friends with the Griffin family.” Athanor curled his lips in gruff amusement, proclaiming with pride, “My son does not fear dragons.”

The Black Dragon - snippet from COSMIC WARS for #WeWRiWa #SciFi Fantasy Adventure

This weekend, I’m continuing a scene from Cosmic Wars, Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy. Cosmic Wars is due to release on Tuesday, 17th.
The Griffin family, Violet, Athanor and their son Varan, is at home, and you can read last week’s snippet HERE. Note, the Jacksons are caretakers and look after the castle. The final lines were: “Hades, we’re under attack!” Athanor’s shout resounded in her mind. Instantly, he appeared at her side, bristling with psi flames.
“Shield,” Violet warned, erecting a protective barrier around the Jacksons. Athanor followed her advice, strengthening his link with her and enveloping their son in a secure screen. Familiar presences, fierce and solicitous, coiled into her senses. Crying, “It’s Ythris and Istrelle,” she raced onto the patio. Blue fire flickered as Athanor ported to her side, carrying Varan in his arms. The Black Dragon, his iridescent onyx scales gleaming in the sunlight, furled his huge wings and descended onto the flagstones. Clasping their son, golden Istros, in her claws, Silver Istrelle glided down to land beside her mate. She folded her shiny wings and released her grip on the little dragon. Half a man’s height, Istros was as slender and skittish as a foal. He flapped his short wings, blinking his golden eyes in astonishment at the strange new place.

Coastal Flora - Photos from California #WildFlowers
We traveled from Ft. Bragg to South of Big Sur, and found many different flowers as well as gorgeous scenery.

Multicolored Wild Radish in Tule Elk ReserveWe also saw wild animals, although they were difficult to capture on a cell phone. We saw elk in Tule Elk Reserve, Pt. Reyes, and elephant seals in the south of Pt. Reyes. Other natives included Californian quail, acorn woodpeckers, and sea otters.
Note, I was only able to identify some of the flowering plants. If you recognize any of them, please feel free to leave a comment with the name.

I’ve returned from California and you can see some photos on my Blog Post.
This weekend, I’m posting a different scene from later in Cosmic Wars, Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy.
The Griffin family is at home.
I apologize for minor misuse of punctuation to fit into 10 sentences.
Violet was in the nursery, cleaning her son’s messy face, while he squirmed and giggled. She idly tracked the other inhabitants of the castle with her empathic senses. Athanor knelt in the library, his mind focused on the task of programming a drone to watch over Yellia. Rascal padded around the book shelves, idly swishing his tail; the cat was intrigued by the surge of activity since his master’s return. The Jacksons were heading for the vegetable garden, trailed by the lone fluffy. Violet smiled; her family was at peace, engaged in their normal routines. A crack of thunder rattled the windowpanes. Varan bawled in fright. “Hades, we’re under attack!” Athanor’s shout resounded in her mind. Instantly, he appeared at her side, bristling with psi flames.

Zorin felt fingers on his wing and spun around, clasping the man’s wrist, stunned at the alarm on his face. “You see me?”
The man nodded and glanced back at the woman, who mimicked the gesture.
This caster was as stronger as the woman and his power flooded the gap between them. Using every measure of control he had not to absorb it, Zorin grunted, shoved the man backward, and tucked his wings close to his shoulders. Shocked and grateful they had the ability to see him, yet curious what they actually saw, Zorin opened the mental crystal bond and frowned as the word crossed the man’s mind.
“I’m not a gargoyle,” Zorin spat, huffing and clenching his jaw to calm down so he wouldn’t scare them further. The wide-eyed woman, dressed like a true survivor, held a lonely sai in her shaking hand, determined to protect herself. A quality he admired. He met her eyes. “Where did the wraiths come from?”
“The, uh, crazy lady,” she began, glancing over toward the bushes and furrowing her brow. “They were right there.”
