Quantum Telecommunication and Teleportation - Fact or Science Fiction?
Quantum Telecommunication and Teleportation
Would you like to chat to a friendly alien on a distant planet, or even pop through a portal to explore an extraterrestrial world?
A common event in science fiction, but physically impossible in the real world of today. In current physics theory, nothing can travel faster than light. This limitation means that even if you could travel at the speed of light, you would take more than four years to reach the nearest star, Alpha Centauri.
Nothing can travel faster than light speed, except for quantum wave/particles. Entangled quanta can communicate at a distance by teleportation. This effect is real. Experiments have demonstrated quantum teleportation of quanta separated by a distance of several hundred miles. Quantum computing is also feasible and is becoming a practical reality. Consequently, quanta can exchange data or communicate at a significant distance. These advances mean we can envision a future where we can transmit data in the form of digital messages, voice or images to an extraterrestrial location.
Remember the live holographic images in decades-old science fiction like Star Trek? In my opinion, such communications are within the bounds of current physical knowledge. Future technical advances might enable us to chat to an intelligent entity on the far side of the galaxy.
Our dream of visiting this alien entity is still impossible in the real physical world because a human is not a quantum-scale object. If we could perform quantum manipulations on an object the size of a human, and if such operations would not injure a live human, we could blithely teleport to an alien planet. But, it’s not possible in current physics. Sorry! We cannot jump through a portal to one of the planets near Alpha Centauri.
We must rely on our imaginations to explore the galaxy and interact with alien lifeforms. Hence, I create adventures in space to vault over the bounds of reality, and often invoke teleportation as a means of interstellar travel in my science fiction stories.

Dragon Scales - Snippet from COSMIC WARS for #WeWriWa #SciFi Fantasy

This weekend, I’m continuing snippets from Cosmic Wars, Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy. I’ll probably skip the next two weeks since I’ll be away in California.
BlurbViolet and Athanor Griffin reunite with their baby son after escaping from the world beyond the fiery Cosmic Rift, but they find no respite from troubles. The Council of Grand Masters has declared Athanor dead, and are fighting for the leadership position as Chair. Hordes of bloodsucking Ixioth slavers threaten galactic civilization, and a new enemy has emerged from the alternate universe, an enemy immune to psychic forces. The dynamic couple are soon swamped with pleas for help. Athanor’s vow to crush the insectoid Ixioths and expel the Nulls hits the major obstacle of locating the enemy. The teleportal web enables their allied enemies to make rapid strikes and escape to an unknown base, somewhere in the galaxy. Violet has a different perilous challenge. Her promise to rescue the children captured on Cinerea means she must brave the dreadful Rift and lose her psychic powers. Can the two Griffins reconcile their divergent promises, or must they separate for the tasks of rescuing the prisoners and defeating the slavers? Join the psychic superstars on this epic adventure, meet aliens of all stripes, and of course, the fabulous dragons of Sythos.
Stimon, the Master Smith, runs a forge inside the crater of an active volcano. He makes various devices for the Grand Masters, and perhaps for others. Continuing from last week, Violet and Athanor Griffin have commissioned new wedding rings from Stimon, the Master Smith. “Show me the damaged ring,” Stimon held out his callused hand. Violet eased the ring off her finger and indicated its cracked orb. Pointing his forefinger at her ring, the Master Smith asked, “What caused that fracture?” “The trolls, the same ones who trapped Athanor, have a sonic weapon. It broke the casing and the silver fluid dripped out, leaving me vulnerable to the anti-psi black stones.” “I remember the repulsive stones,” He lowered his bushy eyebrows in a frown. “Can you devise a better container?” Athanor asked. The Master Smith stared down at the roiling lava, “Grand Master, I used the toughest material available. Only one substance is superior; the scales of a dragon might possibly be impervious to the trolls’ weapon.”

Athanor tilted his head in greeting, “Indeed, we are happy to be reunited.” Quickly coming to the point, he said, “Master Stimon, I have a commission for you, and I wish to consult you on a related matter.” Stimon rubbed his hands together, “Business is slow; invasions threaten. Customers have retreated to their homes with their minds attuned to defense.” “Defense is precisely my goal,” Athanor growled. “Violet and I need new rings with the protective silver fluid. Mine was lost and her ring was damaged.” “Do you have the gold and the psi-enhancing liquid, Grand Master?” “Here is the silver liquid.” Athanor pulled a vial from under his robes, “I’ll fetch as much gold as you require for the rings, and more to pay for the chain you made for our son.”

I’m continuing snippets from my WIP. Cosmic Wars is Book 5 of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy, and continues the adventures of Violet and Athanor Griffin, the super psychic Grand Masters. Once I finish this round of edits, I plan to put it on pre-order.
Draft BlurbGrand Master Athanor Griffin has escaped from beyond the Cosmic Rift and he is eager to tackle his enemies - after he has relaxed with Violet and their baby son. Their peaceful family reunion does not last for long. The Council has declared Athanor dead and its members are fighting for his position as Chair. Hordes of bloodsucking Ixioth slavers threaten galactic civilization, and a new enemy has emerged from the alternate universe, an enemy immune to the Grand Masters’ psychic powers. Soon, the dynamic couple are swamped by pleas for help. Athanor swears to crush the insectoid Ixioths and expel the Nulls from the galaxy, while Violet has vowed to save the captive children of Cinerea. Can the two Griffins reconcile their divergent promises, or must they separate to rescue the prisoners and defeat the invading armies?
I’m continuing the first part of the story (unpolished and may change.) Any suggestions to improve my blurb and initial lines are especially welcome. I’ve skipped a couple of chapters to introduce the mythical blacksmith in this series. Stimon, the Master Smith, runs a forge inside the crater of an active volcano. He makes various devices for the Grand Masters, and perhaps for others. Violet and Athanor Griffin have taken their son, Varan, to visit the Smith. Athanor has a commission for Stimon. The Griffin family emerged on the rock ledge protruding from the precipitous side of the volcanic crater. The repeated thud of a hammer came from the forge at the back of the ledge. Athanor’s deep voice boomed above the crackling lava, “Master Stimon.” The hammering ceased. In a moment, the Master Smith walked out of the forge. His long gray beard hung over his brown leather apron; a true dwarf, he was even shorter than petite Violet. Stroking his bearded chin, he said, “By the hammer of Tubal Ilmarinen, the Griffins have survived against all odds.” He bowed to each Grand Master in turn, “You are a welcome sight, Grand Masters and your baby son.” A shower of hot sparks arced over their heads like fireworks, hissing as they dissipated in the cooler air. Safe in his mother’s arms, Varan gazed openmouthed at the fiery fountain.

Sapient Species in the Books of the Grand Masters’ Galaxy #SciFi #Aliens
The Grand Masters’ Galaxy is home to myriads of different species, some of which claim to be intelligent.
Comments: This list is by no means a complete accounting of the species in the stories. In some cases, Violet encountered individuals of undetermined species or questionable sapience. For instance, she met several entities in the oceans of AguaSalva, including one that claimed to be the sole member of its species.
Aman-ellans: Bipedal feline/humanoid entities with soft fur of various colors and patterns, and cat-like ears.
Brululians: Crustaceans resembling man-sized lobsters with triangular heads bearing eyestalks, ocher carapaces and many legs. Five genders; two compatible genders are required to produce offspring.
Dragons: Winged reptilian species inhabiting the planet Sythos.
Elyrians: Bipedal, slender humanoids who communicate by telepathy. Each Elyrian bears a colored crystal on its forehead.
Flia: Flightless avian entities with brightly colored feathers, beaks and clawed arms. Only females travel off their native planets.
Humans/humanoids: Inhabitants of Terra or the many planets colonized by humans over thousands of years. Occur in a variety of sizes and colors.
Ixioths: Giant insectoids with six red eyes, six legs, and a hump-backed carapace with vestigial wings.
Jangalorans: Monkey-like inhabitants of Jangalore with six eyes, six legs and a puff of a tail.
Maanaans: Giant “metal mushrooms” with a domed hood and short foot/stalk. They communicate by vibrating wires under the hood.
Thoss: Bipedal, tailless reptilian or lizardman.
Umloa’s Brood: Giant amoeba-like entities that can assume protean forms and engulf food or enemies. Communicate via smelly bubbles.
Wistralians: Plantoids resembling giant flowers with three petals, a short stalk, and trailing roots. Communicate by rustling leaves, or emitting scents.
Yelliasts: Entities resemble serpents with three round eyes and three pairs of transparent wings.

A column of pink mist formed in the middle of the room, and quickly resolved into the flower Grand Master, Amarylla Threeleaf. The Wistralian’s three giant petals were tightly furled in a long bud above her short stalk and tangle of brown rootlets. She opened her petals, wafting the scent of roses. Their translators rendered her greeting, “Griffin Grand Masters, your brilliant presence sweetens sap of Brightness Amarylla.” A courteous host, Athanor stood to give a formal bow, and waved his hand in a cordial gesture, “Welcome to my castle, Grand Master Threeleaf. I am grateful for your generosity in guiding the Council during my absence.” Her petals paled, and Amarylla’s leaves rustled, “Absence of Griffin Chair sprouted thorns on Council.” Sparking blue fire from his eyes, Athanor grunted, “Hades, I guessed as much. Tell us the bad news.” “After Grand Master Violet blew into the Cosmic Rift, not fifteen Terran days passed before Council declared Griffin dead.”
