Activ8Me Launches its unique nutritional foods platform

A little while ago, I updated you all on an event I attended regarding spreading awareness about Millets. Health food has gained a lot of traction off late but witnessing people in action taking initiatives is a great feeling. Continuing with the remain healthy spirit, I recently got acquainted with the team at Activ8Me who have launched an online and offline campaign to promote healthy foods.

Activ8Me is a unique platform which has been developed to serve niche health and nutrition based foods and drinks across India. I specifically liked their offline approach. Herein they plan to serve people through healthy vending machines. At the launch, Mandira Bedi unveiled the machine which looks quite impressive. These machines can be placed in areas like gyms, offices, entertainment complexes etc.

Activ8Me's machine has a wide variety of hand-picked, nutritionally beneficial snacking and drinking items. These are not only fulfilling to the hungering stomach but also a bliss for your soul. The vending machine can easily take currency notes, plastic cards and top - up cards.

The guests at the launch included actress and model, Mandira Bedi who spoke about the need to stay healthy and fit. Vinay Sangwan is a Kettle Bell professional who shared his experiences on a healthy lifestyle. Himanshu Malhotra is a famous actor and Dr. Vaibhav Garg, a certified nutritionist also shared insights on eating the right food. Snacking is something which incorporates the maximum junk food we eat. If we opt for healthy snacks, it is not only nutritionally advantageous but also gives us the feeling of being full.
The only thing I felt missing from the product line up was tea and to some extent, millets. Let's hope as they expand their product line, Activ8Me will get more quality brands on board including tea ones.
it is creating a revolution of sorts by passionately bringing health food alternatives under one umbrella.

Lokarpan - Rediscovering the Miracle of the Millet with Miraculous Millet

Millets are the wonder grains of India. They had been with us, since more than 5000 years but left ignored for long. Let’s come together and accept these Millets for the prosperity of Indian farmers and our good health. The Miraculous Millet is bringing the lost glory of the wonder grain back to our daily lives.

The event Lokarpan focussed on the healthy grains and a panel discussion was held wherein points discussed ranged from Culinary and Nutritional aspects of millets to importance of millet to farmers, economy, and society in general.
This was followed by the official launch of the product range of Miraculous Millet with great enthusiasm and optimism that a great step has been taken to promote a healthy alternative to all the processed flour and grains we are consuming on daily basis.

Post the event, Chef Sabyasachi Roy treated us all to a scrumptious meal, using Millet as a common ingredient. I especially loved the Ragi Halwa.

Miraculous Millet is a social enterprise that aims to provide economic security to small and marginal farmers through conservation and promotion of indigenous crops.

Amavas Se Amaltas - A play about relationships and love

Sunday evening I went to watch a play at the India Habitat Center's Stein Auditorium.  It was an inspirational performance and left you with a deja vu. I also loved the name of the play as Amaltas is such a pretty sight to watch in its full bloom.
The play produced by Aganpakhee and Sakshi and presented by Aartwo Entertainment focused on raising children in extraordinary circumstances. It looks beyond the usual mother-son, mother-daughter relationship and explores the theme of mortality. I think this was the second performance of the play as the first time the show was featured, it was at Gurgaon's Epicentre.

Sprinkled with humor, the play lets you on to the life of a retired judge and her children, whom she has adopted and not born herself. The conflict she faces when her daughter asks her to make a difficult choice. It is also well portrayed and so well crafted that the play moves you, stirs your soul.

However, I liked the fact that they ended it with a happy song. The cast came down from the stage and encouraged the audience to sway to the rhythms of the music they played to celebrate the zest of life.

The cast included  Jayati Bhatia, a veteran television artist who played the role of a retired juvenile justice judge, Shikha.  Ankita Bhargava played the character of Sonali who is a corporate lawyer and someone who did not follow her mother's footsteps for social upliftment.Ssumier Pasricha played rather well I must say the difficult role of Jai, the autistic son with a remarkable memory. Chitrashi Rawat enters this family as Khushi, a 16-year-old sex worker who was married off as a kid to a much older man for money. This tumbles up the emotions and truths at Shikha's home..

Day 3 of India Runway Week - Thyagraj Stadium - Delhi

Sunday was quite fun as I visited the Day 3 which was also the finale week of India Runway Week at Thyagraj Stadium. My love for fashion is not known to many but you all know my love for stories. So in hunt of new stories and for a greater insight into the fashion World, I headed to the IRW, which is an upcoming name in the Indian fashion scene.
Of all the shows listed on the schedule chart, the one which caught my eye was Akassh Aggarwal's theme. So Akassh is a famous jewelry designer and his show's theme was  “Changing Phase Of Feminism”. Interesting, I said to myself and went ahead to the show. Must say, the room was jam packed. Such was the buzz for his show.
The showstopper at his show was none other than actress Swara Bhaskar who stunned us all with a heavy jeweled look from Akassh's new collection. I liked its name, "Tribe Vibe Collection."
The philosophy behind this was Bohemian Self Love, a portrayal of women standing up the society which has always looked down upon them. Even the designs somehow gave you that rebellious, upright feel.
Akassh himself was all beaming and I must say, his vision is truly commendable. To put up with such theme for story sake is much easy. To put it into an art form like jewelry is much tough. But his expression of his social beliefs through his work was quite impressive.
The collection is Vibrant that goes well with the depiction of PEROI's Old Tribal Art and Jadaufine techniques in filigree motif, stamped lightweight metal sheet work, embossed 3D and Metallics Gold & Silver with ORGANIC Gemstones like Turquoise, Coral, Pearls and Lapiz Lazzuli. An assortment of Multiple Accessories variety gave the collection a versatility to be worn on ethnic as well with modern wear.

Indian women are now defying old age traditions and establishing their name in the society. If Akassh'smotive was to pay tribute to these bold and fierce women, he definitely succeeded in that. The thunderous applauds at the conclusion of his show clearly stated that.

All in all, it was a great show and an experience in itself. The hard work put in by the designers and the team showed and essence of fashion with a meaning was clearly shown.

Storm (2.0) is back in town - East of Kailash - Delhi

Storm Bar & Grill has undergone a fabulous transformation and is launching in a new avatar to be called Storm 2.0. I had lunch at the place, which was superb on all counts.

Drinks

The Green Apple FoaMartini is the best cocktail they have. It looks so beautiful and tastes so good I say go for this one if you are visiting this place.

Appetizers

For starters, we ate Maggi Arancini, Singh Ching, Pao Bhaji Brushetta, Butter Chicken Tart, Kadai Vegetable Tart and Udta Punjab and Amritsari Fish and Chips. Amritsari Fish and Chips were well fried but they didn't serve any tartar sauce with it. Fish tastes best with tartar sauce.  Udta Punjab is a name they have given to your tandoori chicken which is served in a skewer dish. I would recommend this one. But the best dish they have on the menu us the Butter Chicken Tart. It was I think last week I was talking to someone how Butter Chicken experiments were just not the done thing. But Storm proved me wrong with those tarts. They had the right sweet crunch with cheese on the top.  But they are little sweet to taste which I love but if you are looking for something spicy or less sweet go for Udta Punjab thing.

For vegetarians the best thing they have is the Maggi Arancini which are basically your maggi koftas. Full marks for creativity and taste. Kadai vegetable tart is your veg version of Butter Chicken tart and Pao Bhaji Brushetta was okay. Singh Ching was also okay not over the top.

Salads

We ordered Chicken Tikka Salad which was okayish and Desi Thai Bel which was good. I am not a big fan of salads so it was okay for me.

Pasta with Makhni Sauce - This was penne tossed in your usual North Indian gravy. Awesome idea.

Mains

After all the experiments in the appetizers and snacks, we had typical Indian food. Dal Storm Version 2.0 is your usual Dal makhani. Panner Khatta Pyaaz is tangy but mostly how your kadhai paneer should taste like. Chettinad Chicken was surprisingly good, given that it did not look Chettinad et all. Bhuna mutton is again your standard Mutton dish. I had Malabari Paranthas with the meats and the paranthas were as flaky as they should be.

Desserts

Storm fried ice cream is a specialty and a must try. But the star attraction is the Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake. They have embedded gulab jamuns in the cheesecake and needless to say, it tastes heavenly.

5 reasons why a trekking trip to Mt. Everest is a must on your bucket list

All of us have a bucket list. A list of things we really want to do in life. For some it is sailing a boat, for some, it is winning a reality show. For others, it could be a desert safari or a jungle expedition.  There is no limit to how many items we can include in our bucket list. While mountaineering and trekking are part of many people’s bucket list, not many include trekking to Mt. Everest as something that they would do once in life.
At the peak of the World - You are going to the World’s highest mountain. That’s a reason itself to conquer the height and the thrill of being at such a summit is a reason in itself.
A sense of achievement – How many of us live in this perpetual under confidence that we have not achieved something substantial in life? Well, just deciding to take the plunge to go the Everest is an achievement in itself. It shows your mettle to your inner self.
Meet the Sherpas – Even Edmund Hillary could not have done it without these great people of the hills. Sherpas are natives of the region and very friendly people. Immerse yourself in their simple and calm culture and feel the harshness of city life melt away from you.
Visit the local landmarks – The local landmarks are places to visit in themselves.  The Tengboche and Thami monasteries may feel isolated but are a great spiritual experience in themselves.  There is also a school nearby in the Khumjung village which was established by Sir Edmund Hillary.
You are in Nepal – Nepal is a beautiful country with loads of options for tourists and adventure seekers. A visit to Mt. Everest gives you the option to explore the beautiful environs of Nepal and its most important places.
There are several other reasons to visit the Mt. Everest apart from the sheer thrill of being 16,000 feet above the sea level. It is an experience which can change your life and bring positivity into it.  It is a tough trek, no doubt but the reward is great too. Enjoy the bliss and comfort of the Himalayas and feel at peace with your inner self.

Why you should go overboard with Hashtags on Instagram

Instagram today is becoming the medium of choice for marketers, bloggers, and social media enthusiasts. As the attention span of our viewers and readers is decreasing visual is the right choice to spread the message across. But how do you make sure that those amazing pics you clicked and shared are not lost amongst the sea of pics shared by the 700 million odd users of Instagram, Worldwide?
The right answer apart from generating quality content lies in using the right Hashtags. I say right hashtags for just adding a hashtag in front of any word does not guarantee good traction. You have to be prudent in choosing the right hashtags.
Number of hashtags
Instagram restricts the use of hashtags to 30 per post. This gives it an edge over micro blogging site twitter, which restricts your post and limits the use of hashtags. Every expert you talk to will have a different opinion on how many hashtags you use but I say use as many as you can.
Make sense
And by as many, I do not mean that just spam the post unnecessary with any random hashtag. It should be relevant to your post and should make coherent sense. Recently I saw a picture of someone eating a meal and using hashtags lunch, then breakfast followed by dinner. The person was either enjoying his lunch, breakfast or dinDefinitelyately not all three in the same pic.
Research
Instagram might not be a college essay but that should not refrain you from doing proper research. When you browse through pictures of different accounts and people, take notice of the hashtags others are using. And check if you are able to if you can gauge their engagement viz-a-viz hashtags.
Go local
Many people ask me, what hashtags to use. There is never a right answer as it depends on pic to pic. However, if running out of ideas, use local or regional hashtags. For example, if you had that amazing street food from the local market, you can use the name of the market as the hashtag. If doing touristy stuff at another city, tag the city name as well.

I recommend using as many hashtags as possible. It leads to better discovery and wider reach. Don't take 30 as a target as even if you use 15-20 good and relevant hashtags it will lead to great engagement.
