The World lost a great soul last night
One of our most revered Indians, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam breathed his last breath last night doing what I suspect was his most cherished love, igniting young minds.
Not many know of this great Indian, one of the few idols I personally harbour, Dr Kalam constantly inspired me with his words and most importantly, his thoughts and actions.
India’s favourite nuclear scientist and former president, I would go as far as to suggest that he was India’s version of Einstein. A beacon of hope for all, who continuously displayed how someone who had so much knowledge about a potentially devastating field, used it so humanely.
Dr Kalam is an example for so many of us, a symbol of religious tolerance, the epitome of how socialism and politics truly can work hand in hand and most notably, an inspiration for so many poor who dream big. A son of a boat owner, extremely impoverished in childhood waking before dawn to make some money for his close knit family, his sister pawned jewellery so she could help put her brother through school, and India is immensely grateful for her sisterly love.
Thank you Dr Kalam for awaking and igniting all of our minds, you will always be cherished in the soul of every Indian who dared to dream and care.

Every so often, you awake to Magic …
… At least, I did on Friday.
Winter magic. There’s something so special about waking up to everything being bathed in white.
The kids were up all through the night skiing on the roads and building snowmen (and some snowgirls by the way. We don’t discriminate on gender)
I live in a town of golf courses so you can just imagine the fun we had. People were outside from around about 10pm on Thursday up till Friday afternoon. It only goes to prove, you rarely need money to create your enjoyable memories.
Hope all of you are creating your stories wherever you are! :) :) :)

Why you matter
If it’s been done before then you can do it too. If not, you can be the first. Nothing’s impossible!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to do something or I’ve started a discussion about doing something and I’m met with that blank, “what the hell is wrong with you?” stare.
Inevitably, this is followed by the “what can one person do?” question, which is what gets me thinking. What can one person do?
Have you ever witnessed a cup filled to the absolute brim and then you pour just one, single drop of water and it overflows? That is what one person can do. You can be the catalyst for change, change in your broader community, change in one person’s mind-set but change nevertheless. It’s up to you to make that change positive or negative.
My mum directed my attention to this wonderful initiative called GetUp over the weekend and let me just say I’m hooked! Not to mention slightly envious of the two people who thought this wonderful concept up, damn, why didn’t I? :D
It’s really brilliant and if anything, it warms the heart to know that there are others (A LOT more than one single drop in the ocean) that feel a similar way that you do – they care.

Do you enjoy pushing the envelope?
There’s something so exciting about writing outside your comfort zone. It’s like learning how to story tell all over again and coming across all those wondrous side alleys you can’t remember forgetting along the way on your creating journey.
I’m 50,000 words into my novel now, yesterday it was a little over 57,000 actually and I’m still loving how this book is evolving into a story on its own. The writing path is still truly fascinating at this stage and so very cathartic.
I hope to tell you all a little more about my Un-Belonging as and when it chooses to reveal its intrinsic, interwoven novelties to me!
See you around my beautiful fellow lovers of the written word!

Selfie Definition:
People really need to stop hating on Selfie enthusiasts.
C’mon now.
They have to take photos of themselves because they’re so self obsessed, they never make any real friends to take some for them.
Seriously guys, what is up with these Selfie sticks everyone is carrying around everywhere? Besides being fundamentally and embarrassingly narcissistic, they are liable to take an eye out. Then you’ll really be worthy of a Selfie snap -_-

I spent the whole of last week editing and fixing up 40,000 words of my next novel.
Basically, if I was “getting jiggy with it” when I started last week, I am not any more -_-
My brain is mush, even more so than usual. I hope that I can electrocute it into picking up the slack and continuing with the remainder of the book.
Wish me luck guys and if I don’t see you soon, know that I love you. It’s been good. :P

I’m getting Jiggy with it!
Because I am half way there folks. Half way there! Woo hoo!!!
Finished 40,000 words of my manuscript for my new novel on Friday, worked the weekend in my job and am now hoping to spend the remainder of the week editing.
Fun times, huh? I’ll let you know how I go soon … you know if I’m still sane and all.
Oh, shush guys. You know what I mean, as sane as I can be. Geez, spread the love already! :D

Uh-oh :/
I just read back on some of my writing and realised I haven’t been able to find a Chapter Break for ooh, about that last 150 pages!
I guess it’s back to the Editing Drawing Board for me.
Why oh why, oh the humanity! Ugh!

Where – are – YOU – from?
My dad passed this along to me over the weekend and now I have permanently bookmarked the page on my phone for every single time I’m asked the loaded question!
It’s only been used a couple of hundred times so far :D
Check out the Help Me Find Parents YouTube channel for this wonderful video by Ken Tanaka & David Neptune :D :D :D
