What’s Your Most Cherished Earliest Memory?
I read this wonderful blog piece earlier today for work, and there was this interesting suggestion for Blog Writer’s Block that caught my eye (among the mammoth 150 or so odd suggestions for overcoming it).
The writer, Devin Burglund, suggested that you write about your earliest memory. So I thought I’d improvise … naturally. Because I like making things a little more difficult than they have to be, obviously.
One of my earliest, most cherished memories was when my very first crush, this absolute hottie (I was six by the way), a Colorado native at the British Continental School we both attended in Jeddah, Middle East told me he liked me. Trust me, even till this day, I still (as embarrassing as it sounds) get butterflies fluttering in my stomach when I think back to that hot sunny afternoon.
Had I known then that age and maturity would bring the awkwardness and fear of rejection, consequences and all the other unimportant and insignificant attributes it does, I would have savoured that innocent childhood moment when we didn’t care about what others thought about us, or before we had the experience and knowledge of annoying adult idiosyncracies so much more.
I lost touch with Jerome Douglas Noble but I’ve never forgotten the joy he gave me that day. I hope it was as sweet for him as it was for me and I like to flirt with the fantasy that he seldom thinks of me and that my memory brings a hint of a smile to his slightly twitching lips.
What about you? What’s your favourite memory?

Dear Sweet Tooth,
Why, pray tell, do you have this morbid aversion to common sense?
You know that you’re going to get my hips in trouble, you are also aware that you overwork yourself to the brink which means I need to visit my childhood dentist, Dr. Har into, well adulthood. And no, his limited English does not make it any more comfortable under that sickening drilling thingy as his eyebrows burrow and his piercing black eyes bore into me while he silently admonishes me for your poor decisions.
As much as my taste buds love you, it really is an unhealthy relationship, one that has been tumultuous and agonisingly torturous throughout the years. I wish the two of you would just have a clean break without the numerous tear jerking love letters going back and forth.
My enforced gym trips are not worth your existence. I did try to convince Dr Har to remove you but he shook his head like I was a lost cause (not entirely sure what that’s about). Anyway, please leave the rest of me alone … I beg you. My hips have a long way to go before they forget you entirely.
I have an ice cream craving right about now … damn you sweet tooth, damn you.

I’ve been in a writing coma … sorta
Okay, so firstly I absolutely need to apologise for being absent for so long. It’s disgustingly pitiful and I am thoroughly ashamed of myself but my brain just decided to no longer push out any words.
Work has been agonisingly (not to mention rather rudely) busy lately and the Witches from Ronal Dahl’s wonderful adaptation felt like the Fairy Godmother when compared to my work schedule. Seriously. Though I tend to have this vague slightly acute tendency to exaggerate, I kid you not. Not even a little bit. Okay, so maybe a little bit.
I have had a number of articles published all over the Net the past few months (all work related), so I managed to be slightly guilt free about consuming my literary ice cream by telling myself that this sufficed. Excuse me while I put the fire out started by my pants.
In all honesty, I really have had quite a few articles published and my company was even on Foxtel for a week, which was very exciting. If you don’t believe me (I take offence because I really am the most honest person you are ever likely to meet. In your dreams or fantasy land), you can check out my Business Facebook Page here. Please don’t be afraid to share either, I’ll send you a Chocolate Chip cookie that I just stole from my Cookie Monster (Pic below to display the lengths I can go to).
Anyway, I promise to be more present here, if for nothing more than to read all of your wondrous fantastical crumbles left behind by your awesome creative brains.
You are my sanity, with all the insane bits being wholly owned by moi :)
See you soon my lovelies!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
It’s that wonderful time of year again.
My favourite month is just around the corner, summer holidays for us Aussies! Yay!!!
I know I probably say this every year, but man am I ready for a break. I go on unofficial leave in about 2 1/2 weeks time and official leave in 3 1/2 which means that there’s a lot to do before I officially hang my socks up for the year.
It also means you lucky Bloggers get a much needed break from moi till about February, 2016 unless I sporadically post in between now till then because I absolutely have to. Just to check up on all of you mischievous followers. But, you’re my mischievous lot so I love you :)
Anyway, have a wonderful, magnificently marvellous festive season with the people you care for and who love you back (because that’s important, just saying) and I will see you all in 2016.
Thanks for the laughs this year, you helped me get through many a dreary day. See you soon xoxo

It’s always about the food, isn’t it?
Or, is that just me?
Eh, who cares! :)
We had a brilliant Diwali last Wednesday, cooked till 2am in the morning last Tuesday so I just thought I’d share some of our delectable delights with you and keep the calories to myself.

Sound like a fair bargain?
Anyway, I hope you’re all wonderful and happy!
Enjoy and see you soon :)

Congratulations are in order … for Me that is!
Okay, I don’t want you holding back on the applause, I have achieved a feat I am extremely proud of.
Ready? Drum roll please.
After five and a half weeks I was finally, finally able to sleep on my right ear! Ta-da!!! I know, right? How amazing, what an accomplishment.
Now before you creep away making that “she’s completely bonkers” face, just remember that I got an industrial piercing in my right ear a couple of weeks ago, okay?
I am absolutely positive you are more amazed at my achievement now and if you’re not, what kind of a human being are you?
It’s everyone’s basic right to be able to sleep on their right ear, you don’t know how much you miss something until you can’t have it anymore. This is big. No, this is HUGE. This deserves to be discussed at the next UN meet.
Okay, now you can walk away with that “she’s completely bonkers” face.
I won’t judge.

Why I Hate being an Immigrant (sometimes) …
In your Country of Adoption:
Adopted Country’s Passer-by: “Where are you from?”
Immigrant’s Answer: *sigh – “Country of Origin”.
In your Country of Origin:
Country of Origin’s Passer-by: “Where are you from?”
Immigrant’s Answer: *WTF?! – “Country of Adoption”.
I can only imagine the plight of poor surrogate babies “from” wherever down the line:
Everyone : “Where are you from?”
Surrogate person: “Well, I didn’t come from my mummy’s tummy … and I don’t really look like her … but then, I’m not really sure whose tummy I came from … or if I even look like her. Hang on, where was I again?”
And I think I’m confused.

Do you ever just stop?
To take a look around yourselves? To witness the wonder and beauty this amazing planet we’re all renting out at the moment has to offer?
Every so often Mother Nature takes my breath away. Literally.
I live about 15 minutes away from this amazing Apple Orchard and it feels like I’ve stepped back in time. Hot Cider and Freshly Baked Homemade Apple Pies in the freezing cold winter, can it get any better? Unlikely.
Just thought I’d share some of the beauty we have this way for you to feast your eyes on while I feast my taste buds on some apple. What? It’s fruit and doesn’t an apple a day keep the doctor away? Or maybe 2 or 3?
Quit your snickering, I’m keeping the calories to myself! :D Enjoy!!!

Proverbs I do not get – #1
You can’t have your cake and eat it too …
Why would I buy a cake if I didn’t want to eat it. Really? What would be the point?
“X” will happen when Pigs Fly …
Okay, do you really think that I’m going to be caring about “X” when there are pigs buzzing around my head?
Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me …
This saying couldn’t be further from the truth. Whoever came up with this one clearly didn’t understand the power that words can wield or meet my High School’s version of Mean Girls. Words can butcher your soul in a way sticks and stones never could.
Any proverbs you wonder about?
