In this scene I want to point out that Anne’s size is only an issue because of her own problems with herself. There are no right sizes, no wrong size or wrong bodies. I know numbers can cause a ton of stress and self loathing, but they’re arbitrary, no indicator of worth.

Recently saw a pal and fellow webcomiker post about taking the summer off (cartoonists.. On vacation?! Madness), and I’ve been thinking about it since. I’ve been having a very hard time with the update format for months, but I still work really well in batches - something I can’t keep up when I have to change gears constantly to stay updated. Why is this a problem now when it hasn’t been for years? Your guess is as good as mine!
I’m going to try an experiment, and put Meat&Bone on hold until the end of August, while still working on it.
Kind of shitty and I don’t feel great about it, but something’s got to change for now. Hope everyone understands!

Gonna stick to lineart only updates for a little while. I bit off way more than I can manage this month and I’ve been in a rut since January…rather than struggling through colouring, I’d like to keep regular updates, even if it’s lines! Will update in colour when I’m able.

Meat and Bone Page 243. You say that like it’s bad news.
Thank you to everyone who came to see me at TCAF! This was a real breakout year for me, just lots of people coming up to say hi & talk about comics, getting to see zine’s folks made with my guidebook, and meeting SO many of people I’ve known online for a while! It was cool. Also, cha-ching, I made enough money to get a nice bike and I feel really good (wait, is it tacky to talk about money…)
I’ll be updating my store with Meat&Bone pins and some neat patches shortly!
I also like…fortified, and talked way more openly about the subject matter in Meat&Bone than I ever have before. It’s still really hard to stand up with people and say ‘yeah, this comic is mostly about eating disorders!’. I did the queer mixer interviews with Anne Ishii, and got a little too emotional (buddies told me it was IMPASSIONED, and I’ll go with that). On Sunday I was on a food in comics panel and thought that went really, really well!
I don’t have confirmation on future panels yet, but I expect a couple Toronto and Montreal zine fairs.

When did this comic become all about sex, whaaat. I keep ending the week on these semi cliffhangers! ….and this weekend is TCAF!! My favourite show of the year! I hope if you’re attending you’ll come find me at table #154….I’m easy to spot, I’ve got a big banner. I’m selling books, patches, and pins…including pins made from Meat&Bone drawings! They turned out really cute.
